    Default Barby-Oh achievements (BYOH Barb)

If you were looking for anything with the phrase "Epic Elite", this is the wrong thread. In fact this is almost an anti-accomplishment thread. It is an attempt to demonstrate that what many people consider unworkable is in fact trivial.

The Barby-Oh project is to provide a proof of concept that pure meele builds are not incompatible with BYOH. The project won't be a success until I can BYOH my way to level 20 and then grind enough epic destiny exp to have a healing option. This is my first barb, so I'm learning as I go which means I'm not comfortable writing up the conclusion before I get there.

But in the meantime, I did want to start sharing what I have so far. This thread was the best I could come up with.

The build is an 18 Barb/2 Fighter with max str, high con and a generic barb build set of feats: Stunning Blow, Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave, Toughness, Improved Crit Slash, THF, ITHF, GTFH.

The equipment is for the most part worse than what I expect from a random pug member. I'll provide the equipment list in each video post since it changes from level to level. This toon is on my secondary account, so I couldn't uber twink this character even if I wanted too.

Crafting - The build does make use of Cannith crafting, mostly for the weapons. The crafting shards can be made with a skill in the high 30s or even bought as unbound shards. I do not consider this out of reach for the average player.

lvl 9 Barby-Oh v.s. Elite Tears of Drakaan (First part only)

No ship buffs, no potions. I went in to try out my new falchion and was quite pleased with the test drive.

    Gear is nothing amazing:
    Head: Helm of frost
Eyes: Goggles of secret door detection, should have been +1 attack/blindness ward but I forgot
Armor: Life shield battle half plate of spear block
    Wrist: Bracers of wind
    Ring: Acrobats ring
Ring: Feather falling of false life
    Boots: Anger's Step
    Hands: Ogre Power +5 Gloves
Belt: Spare hand (lvl 8, teir 1)
    Cloak: Envenomed Cloak
Trinket: Bold trinket (not greater, just bold trinket)
Neck: Healt +4 necklace of natural armor +1
Sword: Bodyfeeder falchion of lesser vampirism (with master crafting)

lvl 11 Barby-Oh v.s. Normal Cabal for one

    Again, no potions used.

My guild Brotherhood of BYOH has a set of entrance tests to demonstrate a basic level of BYOH ability. Though very loosly enforced, I thought it would be a good idea to take the level 11 Barbyoh through the level 11 test to be a member. Although Cabal is a level 14 quest, it seemed much easier than a lower level quest on elite. Final answer: Cakewalk.

    Gear still mostly the same:
    Head: Random underwater breathing junk
    Eyes: Crafted +1 attack/blindness ward
Armor: Life shield battle half plate of spear block
    Wrist: Bracers of wind
    Ring: Acrobats ring
Ring: Feather falling of false life
    Boots: Anger's Step
    Hands: Ogre Power +5 Gloves
Belt: Spare hand (lvl 8, teir 1)
    Cloak: Envenomed Cloak
Trinket: Bold trinket (not greater, just bold trinket)
Neck: Silver Flame teir2 (the one with death ward)
Sword: Bodyfeeder falchion of lesser vampirism (with master crafting)

Should do elites, normal is not going to "convince" people who you are hopefully "trying to ".

Will do. I had already planned to do most of the videos will be on elite (the first one was). The Cabal video was three levels under and on normal since that was as specified in our guild test. Future videos will be on elite. When leveling, I'm running on elite. My elite streak is up to 50.

Look at those chubby dwarf legs move! ;p

Looks like a pretty interesting idea.
I've been trying to figure out the best way to make it through my Barb/Fighter lives myself.
Will all be AA's probably, but the lack of inherent self heals has been bothering me for heroic levels.
End game will be fine with UMD maxed, and Destinies, but heroic levels will be rough I'm guessing.

I've been thinking just maxing my heal amp and using lesser/vampirism throughout most of the levels..
But that would really kill a lot of my DPS, so I just don't know. lol

lvl 14 Barby-Oh v.s. Elite Relic of Sovereign Past

Almost 30 minutes of questing... 11 CSW potions used.

My second account didn't own many packs in the 9-12 range, so I had to grind my way up to 14 on scraps and repeats. Gear is still mostly the same although the Bloody Cleaver is a huge upgrade for my weapon. Basic plan the same, CC with stun/trip, cleave when you can. I just got supreme cleave and I'm getting used to it. I try to use it when either 1.) Health is topped off anyways, or 2.) I'm facing at least 3 opponents so I'm likely to break even on the health.

    Gear at level 14:
    Head: Minos Legens
    Eyes: Crafted +1 attack/blindness ward
Armor: +4 fearsome magecraft half plate
    Wrist: Bracers of wind
    Ring: Health +6 ring
Ring: Feather falling of false life
    Boots: Rock boots(lvl 12, teir 1)
    Hands: Ogre Power +5 Gloves
Belt: Spare hand (lvl 8, teir 1)
    Cloak: Stormsinger cloak
    Trinket: Voice of the master
Neck: Silver Flame teir2 (the one with death ward)
    Sword: Bloody Cleaver

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to csivils again.

Someone pick up the slack please. Nice work!

    lvl 14 Barby-Oh v.s. Elite Blockade Buster

So I got to thinking... I've never attempted a stealth run of blockade buster. A legitimate case could be made that I still haven't I originally planned on trying this at 15 so the quest would be on-level, but then I decided to give stupid a try, and so with half points in UMD, no +UMD gear and a strategy that could offend both Shade and Ghostie at the same time...

Technically not a flawless run, but healing was not an issue at all.

    Gear at level 14:
    Head: Minos Legens
    Eyes: Crafted +1 attack/blindness ward
Armor: Frozen Tunic (no arcane spell failure)
    Wrist: Bracers of wind
    Ring: Health +6 ring
Ring: Acrobat Ring (I need jump!)
    Boots: Rock boots(lvl 12, teir 1)
    Hands: Ogre Power +5 Gloves
Belt: Spare hand (lvl 8, teir 1)
    Cloak: Stormsinger cloak
    Trinket: Voice of the master
Neck: Silver Flame teir2 (the one with death ward)
    Sword: Bloody Cleaver

    Honorable Mention: Nightforge Armbands

I keep thinking that at some point, there will be a need to call time out and actually pretend I'm equipping this toon... But not there yet.

lvl 16 Barby-Oh v.s. Elite Cabal for One

The first 90% of the quest was very easy, to the point I didn't even bother to buff. 20/20 hindsight, it might have been a good idea to use my shield clicky... but it wasn't too bad. The final fight comes down to getting in quick to kill the adds, the DPS test on the king and then wrapping up. I had intended to use the shrine half way through the last fight, but they just went pretty easy.

As far as gear goes, I reached the point where I needed to grind out some save gear for Barby-oh. The parasitic breastplate seemed like a good idea, although not having that pack on my 2nd account did mean I had to grind favor before I could grind the gear. I also upgraded my spare-hand to the level 16 version. Beyond that, same ole gear...

    Gear at 16
    Head: Minos Legens
    Eyes: Crafted +1 attack/blindness ward
    Armor: Parasitic Breastplate (+10 reflex)
    Wrist: Bracers of wind
    Ring: Health +6 ring
Ring: Acrobat Ring (I need jump!)
    Boots: Rock boots(lvl 12, teir 1)
    Hands: Ogre Power +5 Gloves
Belt: Spare hand (lvl 16, teir 1)
    Cloak: Stormsinger cloak
    Trinket: Voice of the master
Neck: Silver Flame teir2 (the one with death ward)
    Sword: Bloody Cleaver
