I have a L25 first life Cleric that I like run in EEs.
He cant break SR or DCs so he does what hes good at - healing.
Where appropriate (eg when im not likely to get tripped/ stunned etc) I like to stand in with hitters using my Aura and Bursts, saving my SP for those hairy moments when rapid cycled masses are needed.
Whilst Im in with the hitters I like to swing my mace to add my bit of dps and not look like Im piking.
(For reference - I dont have an Epic melee alt so I know nothing about their damage or destinies)
Ive always been happy with 38 damage a swing (and a skull shattering 90ish on a crit) but the other day my delusion was clarified for me..
We were Guild running EE Trial and a Guild Barb announces he is going to start Blitzing. Being ever the Newb I wondered what this was and so asked what it was - an Epic moment that improves damage and such came the reply.
"Damage?" thought I, waving my trusty Forgotten Light at the CR99 Troll that was trying to bash my head in.
The next moment theres a graphic effect and sound Ive not noticed before, and a crit of 95 flashes up with a skull. A kill. "Thats Dps right there baby - living proof that a healbot can be a lethal melee killing machine"
"So, how much damage does blitzing do?" I ask with one eye on the combat log, looking proudly at that crit of 95"
Up flashes in party chat "combat: you hit blah for 8598 damage" or there abouts
Ok, so Ive made the story a bit theatrical but the underlying truth is my melee Dps is poor. But I didnt realise the gap between melee and non melee was so huge.
It make me wonder if I should save some wear on my mouse button by not bothering.
Clerics, what do you do in EE if your Penn and DCs prevent you doing instas and CC?
Meleess, do you want us Clerics up front getting in the way with our awesome dps?
Everyone else, do you care either way :-)
