Default a gimpy paladin. Help is requested

so i have this paladin that was originally designed to be a tank. He has right now about a 100 ac, ok pr, and ok saves.

i have good threat gen with him, but an issue is that while he is very survivable, he takes forever to kill things.

while i do want to tr him, it will be a while before is do so.

so short of a tr, im looking for a way to save him.

this is what i have thought of.

You need DPS feats. I assume you are using a shield, so I would do...

    Khopesh out for Bastard Sword
Cleave, GCleave, OCrit out for THF, ITHF, GTHF
[Stunning Blow or Empower Heal] out for Shield Mastery
[Maximize or Stunning Blow] out for Improved Shield Mastery
-One spell power metamagic is plenty, and arguably too much for a tank: a tank has no meaning if there is no healer.-
(and play with the order a bit, EWP and GTHF are the big ones)

    Ah. Then...

Khopesh, [one of Maximize or Empower Heal] out - THF, ITHF in
GTHF and OC in your Epic slots

    ...should do you fine!

Yeah, Emp. Heal and Maximize both affect your blue bar cure spells, and Maximize has the bigger effect. But only Emp. Heal affects rejuvenation cocoon.

When doing S&B with a bastard sword or dwarven axe you get glancing blows just like you do with a two-handed weapon. Thus, THF improves those S&B glancing blows as well if you're wielding one of those two weapon types. GTHF and Improved Shield Bashing allow a S&B tank to still do some decent DPS. And it has the bonus of also applying to real THF for the times you want to swap to full DPS mode.

    Wow cool thanks!

I was aware dwarven axes grant glancing blows but didn't think THF worked for one hand weapons too.
But shield bashing is effective only for those who attack with the shield while defending, (shift + left mouse button) is it right?

With the improved shield bash feat, regular attacks gain a chance to proc shield bashes without actively blocking, in the same way that doublestrike works.

I have two questions about paladins yet, if the OP doesn't mind.

    1) If i have a divine vengeance, would you suggest to swap THF feats with some other when at level 18? (http://ddowiki.com/page/Itemivine_Vengeance)

    2) Is intimidate worth the skill points or better spend them for umd since the high charisma?

    nice weapon.

wouldnt work for my guy, but if you are going snb or twf its nice.

with my build - your int is 10 starting and you are human.

which gives you 2 skill pts a level

    so both intim and umd.

you can go for something else after you hit 7 and have your int tomes kick in
