    Default Teamwork is overrated....

Saw a group listing in the LFM panel last night. It made me wonder if this is the level of teamwork that Sarlona had stooped to.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for "Be prepared" or "be in good destiny" LFM's when attempting EE's. But BYOH? Lead by a *gasp* CLERIC!?

I must not be the only one that had these thoughts. The LFM was posted for a while as "BYOH". Then, the "BYOH" was taken off, but the class listing was restricted to self hjealing classes (blue bars and no melee). Not a single person was added to the party....

To me, this ranks right up there with the "Eite, know your role, no noobs, know quest, no hand holding! need guide"

Not all clerics are built to be useful at healing.

Sounds like a pair of WF Flavored Souls that used to put up Shroud LFM's. "We dont heal" LOL

I always liked when people do this. At least everyone that "joins" knows what to expect

He posted the LFM. He gets to choose the rules. They may be unpopular, but it's still his choice. Don't like the rules, don't join. And apparently, many people chose that option as you mentioned it didn't fill.

Most of my EE tor's are byoh / I'm on a warforged caster and if you feel that your best option is a fleshie melee then I expect you to heal yourself the best you can I might be able to throw a heal scroll on ya here and there but when where doing the dragons most likely not , either way EE tor is done best with caster/self sufficient builds IMO anyway so I don't think this was a stretch for them to post it let alone what does BYOH have to do with teamwork ? It doesn't mean you don't have to work as a team to complete the quest it just means they expect you to be self sufficient IMO.... Anyway it's there lfm if you don't like keep moving along

It just bothers me when LFM's put up by "role specific classes" do not what to do their "role". For instance, in this LFM, a Cleric (hjealing class) posted a BYOH group. I read that as "I dont feel like doing my job. Do it yourself and give me my loot." But, don't misunderstand me, I totally beleive ALL classes should be self suficient to run EE quests. I just see it as bad "teamwork" when the party leader says upfront "I am not playing my role". I would toss this into a LFM posted by a bard "Play your own songs", a whizzard "Haste yourself", a rogue "assasin don't do traps", a barb "DPS for me so I dont hurt myself", well you get the point.

And yes, I know the "His party his choice. Dont like, dont join. blah blah blah...." My point is, has Sarlona dropped to that level? Every man for himself???

    p.s. No, I didn't join the group.

    Default Hm

At least he was being honest? Sometimes having to heal people even on my more-healing-specced divines is actually counterproductive to the quest getting finished.

Ex: EE PoP last night contained 4 rangers (one a juggernaut ranger/arti) whom I expected to have some sort of Shiradi CC twist. Not only did they lack CC capability via destinies or items, they were terrible at managing their aggro and kiting, so they had about 29 deaths between the four of them when the quest was completed.

I was on a spellsinger and the sixth player was pure wolf druid, and we solo kited the boss. I would have gotten the quest done a lot more quickly and with fewer resources if I hadn't promised to heal the fleshies in my LFM, but unfortunately I did.

Anyway, I promise to always heal you, Yuda! You always deserve it, though. Not everyone does.

P.S. one of the Chinese rangers was amazing in the Shavarath room, though. He fury-manyshotted Princess Aurelia down so quickly that the jariliths didn't even get a chance to trip me before she died. The rest of the rangers were dead, of course.

I didn't see the post but I've seen plenty of byoh posts by divines.

For me, the blue dragon on EE is the most challenging for sure, but self-healing doesn't mean squat if you can't deal with the electric damage. It could also be that I never ran anyone that figured out good placement in there. Placement for white and black are fairly straight-forward.

Several characters on Sarlona all starting with "Rand" in the Guild "Guardians of House Cannith". My main four characters are Randowl (18 rogue 2 artificer mechanic - hope to go back to DC casting some day), Randslar (Bard 14 / Fighter 4 / Rogue 2 Swashbuckler), Randek (Druid CC Caster 17/Fvs 3) and Randomall (Rogue 20 assassin).

The other day I was on my rogue helping my friend who was TR'ing his multi-TR'ed barb. My rogue is a 1st lifer so he was xp capped. We were doing a quest with some traps, not full of traps but with some nasty traps in some key spots.

We had a Fvs in the party who wasn't very enthusiastic about healing. So, as I was standing in front of the trap, it came to my head that disabling that trap did absolutely nothing for me, since ingenous debilitation xp bonus means nothing to an xp capped toon and I was a lvl 17 3rogue with >30 dex, +5 resistance item, action boost: saves IV from human versatility and improved uncanny dodge all ready and available. Just because I have a rogue sneaking around in my icon doesn't mean I have to babysit you; every toon should have some degree of self-sufficiency, and no one asked me if I could/wanted to do traps.

So why didn't I just run past the traps? I didn't because I'm not a jerk, pure and simple.

Don't forget to bring a fireling cleric to help heal yourself during the byoh runs.

I understand it for this dragon, as a divine who sometimes heals, I find that in this room, people get blocked by the pillars or are just out of reach--so they die, had they been able to heal themselves even just a little until I could get to them maybe they would've lived.

    Is dying bad? No.

But in this room if I take the time to raise you, then that means I can't heal someone else, esp if perhaps I had to leave the boss that I was assigned to. And also, I lose my DOT and can't do other DPS if I have to chase someone down. And the key here is to kill as fast as possible ( for people who have never done this on EE)

When pugs die in this room, we tend to leave them dead, as it is actually somehow easier that way Heck my own guildies have left me dead a few times while they finished

IMHO I think that the LFM didn't fill for another reason
