How about info on challenges, currently on the compendium? Where will the info on what you need to do to get stars be posted?
You can check raid timers by /raid timer. Its been so long since i have done raids, i think thats the way to check it.

There is a spreadsheet that pulls the time that you completed the raid quest off of your characters MyDDO pages and then automagically fills in your timers.

I don't have a problem with someone looking up their alt or maybe work it out to get permission from the person first before being able to look up their build, but this is why im glad MyDDO is going away.
While this is already a very pessimistic standpoint, I conquer and say, nothing will change players that bothered before to look someone up on MyDDO/YourDDO. Instead of looking one up now, the player will just ask in guild or party chat if one knows the player and if not decline. So if you aren't already in the circle, you wont join nevertheless. If one look players up for having a giggle, this player will get his laugh elsewhere. Further there is the question if one would even want to join a group, where the player is looking one up for negative reasons.

On the other hand, you can't lookup a player to help him by giving an advice like that certain objects wont stack or that you could look in your bank if you may have a better object for that guy. Sure you can ask, but sometimes it is even difficult to explain a new player how to link an object he currently wear.

One option would have been to put character sheets in a private mode, even unable to retrieve via the API, depending on a checkbox of the UI, like the one that links it to the profile. But despite missing this, MyDDO itself wasn't a bad thing.

So yeah, Nobel created the dynamite to help in mines and the creation of tunnels, just to notice that some people wanted to use it to make bombs. However that didn't mean the discovery of dynamite was a bad thing. But sure, everything can be used for a bad purpose, but it always boils down what people do with something. It's not the tool or object which is bad, it's the people who used it for the wrong reason.

It is indeed '/quest' and '/quest completions', however the last time I checked the output was a mess. Neither it is sorted nor grouped and anything else then readable. I mean, there is a reason why players took up the work to provide tools, and not just YourDDO or the one linked by Phoenix.

But when the data itself is borked, what is the use of player tools? I haven't bothered with any API tools for years because of that.

Checking a player/examine function that shows all the gear and buffs has been used in many other MMO's. When examaning another player, the Onscreen chat reads " Player XXXX is examining you." I always used the come back when a Player you examined gives you a funny emote . "Hey, Don't worry, Im a Doctor"
This function will make the Hud for the examine window larger and we will soon be running out of room with all the item on it already.
We could go back to playing "Wizardry" and texting all our combat, that would save alot of money on video cards.

Not all of it but a significant amount. Which is why I posted in support in another thread to take it down with the hope that some day there will be something useful to work with.

if you are not already in the "circle", than why are these guildies bothering with a lfm? there will always be players trying to use some form of screening process. people don't seem to understand that when you put up an lfm, you are looking to group with a stranger. this player may be a good player or he may not, unless people in the group actually have played with him before and can vouch either way. looking up someones gear to see if they qualify to run a quest falls under the same mentality as knowing how well a player is by looking at his UI hp bar.

if other people can look up my build on YourDDO or MyDDO or any other site, I want the option to be private that I can check on or off. run with me and judge me. don't judge me by looking at what I wore when I logged off last.

    1) I will be sad to lose YourDDO

    2) The Credit Card Info thing does sound worrisome. I'm honestly just not savvy enough with forum scripting to know if it's significantly easier to hack a forum account or an actual account - if the risk is similar then I don't get the hullaballoo - but like I said I'm ignorant on this, and therefore worried by the volume of people who are concerned.

    3) I'm most annoyed by the loss of neg rep though.

I'll give a hypothetical to demonstrate why:
A poster might put a guide in the 'new player section' that pretty much guaranteed any new players who read and followed it would have a bad time in DDO by CON dumping their character. In the past, the community would have responded to this by a mass dumping of neg-rep for Trolling / Awful Advice / Inflammatory Nonsense. It isn't the kind of thing that is actually breaching forum guidelines though, such that "Reporting" would be inappropriate.

    4) I'm pleased Individual Class Forums are back! A spoonful of sugar!

if neg rep was actually used properly like that, than I would probably wish it would stay too, but it gets abused too easily. you could try to be funny with a harmless joke and someone still could neg rep you. someone might disagree with your opinion and neg rep you. if people cant use it properly than it should be taken away.

Why even have rep anymore? If any reputation consequence for being disruptive/trolling/attacking is removed, then positive rep is even more meaningless than it was before and the system loses the last little shred it had of a purpose. Just remove reputation entirely already.

Does this mean the information on what abilities and enhancements each class and race get at each level is going to be removed or changed? Because those items are actually really well laid out and I make frequent use of them when contemplating new builds.

This is awful. Don't remove this functionality - fix it so it actually updates properly! You're going to kill all the great external apps for checking raid timers, leveling order and selections, and any tangible record of the past lives of characters that were actually very memorable.

This seems to me like you're saying "We don't want to bother fixing or supporting this tool, even though it is very useful to a lot of players. So we're just going to kill it and not bother replacing any of its functionality. Now run along and buy something from the store."

This doesn't have to be removed. It used to work in the past. If you really wanted to you could make it work again.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Despite it's flaws, I'm sad to see it go.

The lotteries were amusing when I could enter them. Really enjoyed the way that the event related items were up for grabs when the events came around. I do like the new daily dice but I did a bunch of rolls on silver and gold on Lamannia and didn't see anything event related (Crystal Cove was running when I did those rolls).

The ability to look up your character had only mild appeal but it was there when you wanted it. Used it most when I was out of town and couldn't play, just to ease the DT's. Would like to see something like this come back someday.

Challenge boards are leaving? Permanently? But ...we just got them. And Crystal Cove was just added to them. They didn't inspire me to work for 1st place, but it was interesting knowing where you placed relative to other players.

The API is being reduced? We need more apps, not less.

What does this mean for the DDO Chronicle? That's still going to be around in some form, right?

Compendium gone? Never found it useful.

Blogs gone? I kind of feel sorry for the bloggers and their fans.

    Challenge Boards? Doesn't matter.

Lotteries? Now that's a shame I liked those..

Combined Game/Forum password? Going to buy a prepaid Visa and call it a day I suppose.

Although I am still concerned about account breaches, I find that my best option (seeing as Turbine still has not commented on the matter) was to ask Turbine Support to delete all personal information attached to my account that lingered in the DDO-store (which Turbine cheerfully deleted, and had even gone as far as to offer to delete the e-mail from file).

Also, one could make a "dummy" account that is effectively seperate from the main account (thus, any breach would result in "them" not being able to get into your account).

    Default Big NO! NO!

It will be a disaster combining game password and forum password. There are big reasons why game companies don't do that and with turbine it will cause more problems.. Turbine stores our private information including credit cards inside the game account. If there will be a breach in the forum, that means we are also handling the culprit full access of our credit card.

It is easier to fix a breached coming from 1 source than possible multiple entries/breach.

If I can't attack someone for trying to examine me then I don't want to see the feature in game. They should only be able to see what gear you have ie you have a robe on your using a long sword they shouldn't be able to see what said gear does.

If they dump neg rep they should dump it all a positive rep system only is totally pointless .

The existing API will continue to operate after April 24th, though there may be periodic interruptions of service.

Glad to see that for those who have developed 3rd party apps using it.

Glad to see myddo phased out. The data has always been grossly inaccurate and was often misused. Since there was obviously no chance it would ever be made correct and made private, I am glad to see it gone. I am a bit disappointed to see that the bad data API will be retained. That just means we will be plagued by inaccurate 3rd party apps that some people will continue to misuse. Would have been better to just turn it off for good.

I already miss the lotteries, since they have not worked for my main account for more than 6 months, so no real loss there.

I am a bit concerned about the merging of IDs and passwords. May have to change how I pay for DDO.

Not thrilled about the emphasis on social media. Not even DDO can get me to go there.
