    Default Chronicles of a palrouge

I rolled today a paladin rogue and since its almost my first paladin, I may benefit from useful insight by sharing the build while Im levelling him.

I dont know if this is viable, since Im shooting for a 2HF paladin\rogue with trap skills. I didnt decided how many rogue levels Ill take but at middle levels I hope to have a better judgement.

Race human for the extra feat and skill.

    Engenheira (32 points)
    Strength - 14
    Dexterity - 14
    Constitution - 14
    Intelligence - 14
    Wisdom - 14
    Charisma - 10

Feats I started with toughness and dodge, but changed at fred dodge for least dragonmark of passage to get expeditious retreat and 2 points in balance.

1st level rogue, obviously, with the following skills: balance, bluff, disable device, hide, jump, listen, move silently, open lock, search, spot, umd and 1 point in tumble.

Made a few quests on normal and the wilderness in khortos and levelled.

2nd level paladin and skill: concentration.

Enhancement wise I picked so far:
    Paladin toughness I
    Paladin devotion I
    Human improved recovery I

Next collaborator hard with no difficulty and jumped to harbor.

Im using a non magical greatsword until I loot\craft something. Also bought non magical longbow, maul(undead), 2 greatclubs(ooze and rust).

Ill have to work around healing, so I plan to get paladins levels until 4 paladin so I could have some self healing.

    More suggestions are welcome.

Zerged through harbor on normal: durks, garrisons, harvedasher, information is key, ringleader, lost tome, missing in action, sunken sewer and reached level 3.

Chose paladin so 2 paladin / 1 rogue.

82 hp and doing around 10 damage for swing.

Feat picked skill focus: disable device since i needed it for the rogue feat trapmaking.

    skills: concentration, search, spot.

    Enhancements so far:
    Paladin toughness I
    Paladin devotion I
    Paladin charisma I
    Paladin Focus of good I
    Racial Toughness I
    Human improved recovery I

    Notable gear:
main weapon: +1 shocking touch greatsword
wrists: spear bane (3 / slash, bludgeon)

3 / slash, bludgeon is very useful at low levels especially for a melee always in trouble with ranged combat IMHO.

Im gonna try some harbor hard, start ww, stk and tangleroot.

My advice would be to aim for Hunter of The Dead as Paladin PRE (check the WIKI for the prereqs... I think they are all enhancements...)

Just take the two rogue levels... for evasion... the second at about L6-8 when evasion starts being handy!

The dragonmark with expeditious retreat is not so useful... once things get going clickies are easy to come by...

Dont make the mistake of taking the THF line... you are better off with Power Attack, Cleave... etc.

was thinking in the 2nd tier that grants you dimension door

Hunter of the Dead is very good. The immunity to level draining... and the ghost touch attacking is very nice, especially whilst levelling.

With that intelligence, you have enough skill points (5 per level before tome) to max out search and disable device... and to slowly build up balance...

The 2nd tier of the feat that grants you dimension door cost a total of 2 feats in an already feat-starved build.
For the few quests where DD is useful... there is a hireling (Mikayl the Pious - or something like that... lvl 11 iirc) that you can park at the entrance of the quest and summon when needed. Only costs a few plat... and saves you a couple of feats.

The skill focus feat is not needed for the rogue trapmaking - last time I looked. You just need 4 levels or Rogue or something...

If you ever LR, then dump wis and put something into CHA. With items you will easily get whatever WIS you need to cast pally spells... and CHA helps not only your UMD but also your evasion... and with any evasion splash you are always having to check you have enough reflex!

Or then why not go 2 Pal and 18 Rogue and be a kick @§§ assassin with laying on hands... for the skills?

firts 2 quests from tangleroot and ww on normal, harbor on hard: durks, garrisons, harvedasher, ringleader, lost tome reached 4th level and took 1 paladin.

3 paladin / 1 rogue , 99 hp and doing around 20 damage per swing.

    Notable gear:
    main weapon: +2 greataxe
wrists: spear bane (3 / slash, bludgeon)

gear very poor but my crafting levels are low right now

miss cure spells that ill get at paladin 4 so only 2 LOH as self healing is scarce

    unable to finish harvedasher elite

reached 5th level and took 1 paladin

4 paladin / 1 rogue , 123 hp, doing around 20 damage per swing and finally got cure light wounds

    noteworthy gear:
    main weapon: +2 greataxe
wrists: spear bane (3 / slash, bludgeon)
ring: devotion power II (20 healing spell power, 20 sp)

A point of advice with regards to multiclassing, determine what build split you are going for ahead of time. The easiest way to destroy any character in this game is to multiclass without a plan. Since you want to go with a paladin/rogue split, I highly recommend you take a little time, before you get to far into the character, and decide what you actually want to achieve with this character. Just picking class levels as you come to them will most likely leave you with a character in the high teens that isn't very good at anything and isn't very fun to play.

I already made up my mind for something like 13 pal / 7 rouge or 12 pal 7 / 8 rouge or 14 pal / 6 rouge.... all depends on the skill points I will need!

meanwhile I looted and crafted something

    noteworthy gear:
main weapon: +2 acid touch greataxe of slicing
    hands: strength +2
    waist: constitution +3
    cloak: charisma +3
wrists: spear bane (3 / slash, bludgeon)

took rogue for skills and evasion... so now Im 4 paladin / 2 rogue

feat: lesser dragonmark of passage dimension door at level 6 is great (fast way to get it by dragonmark i suppose)

    meanwhile I looted useful gear

    noteworthy gear:
main weapon: +2 acid touch greataxe of slicing
    eyes: blindness immunity
    waist: strength +3
    cloak: charisma +3
wrists: spear bane (3 / slash, bludgeon)
ring: devotion power II (36 healing spell power, 20 sp)

    enhancements so far:
    paladin toughness II
    paladin devotion II
    paladin charisma I
    paladin focus of good I
    paladin resistance of good I
paladin energy of the templar I
paladin extra lay on hands I
    racial toughness I
    human improved recovery I
    human adaptability strength I

palrouge so far has showed survivality and fun for those who enjoy melee, saves are interesting

side note: its my 1k post..... to celebrate something special: the chronoscope on normal at level 6.... however dont have many illusions to succeed but for the fun!

level 5 paladins get another smite evil for a total of 2 and after doing gwylans I noticed this is a significant improvement in dps.... I think this is more obvious in open battlefields than in sewers like tear.

my adventures ended in the scoundrel's run on hard

    some thoughts:

Paladin splash with evasion is a hard nut to crack but the healing isnt enough..... but paladin + evasion its a good option!

    cheers!
