    Default Please critique - Rng12/Rog7/Ftr1

    Hello all,

I'd appreciate any advice or critiques on the below build. I'd like to reuse my GS rapiers for this life so I am focusing on TWF with this build. I duo mostly with a RL friend and will always either be in a group with a healer or have a hire out. This build is just meant for leveling as I plan on TRing again shortly after hitting 20 so I'm not too concerned with high level content.

I didn't really bother with concentration or the healing as my heals will be very weak and I will very rarely be casting in combat, any feedback? I'm not usually a fan of spending enhancement points on skills but there didn't seem much else for me to take - but I'm open to any feedback there too. Will prob end up dropping Ranger Dex 2 & 3 at 19 and grabbing assassin 1.

And I haven't played a ranger before, are my favored enemy picks ok?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You say you are going to TR as soon as you hit 20, so I'm not sure you will get the full mileage out of those cleaves. People usually take them to get access to the epic feat Overwhelming Critical, I wasn't overly impressed with the cleave feats themselved while leveling and only started using them once i unlocked the legendary dreadnought ED.

Now this would save you 2 feats, and I was thinking maybe you would like to switch the fighter level for something better. 1 barb comes to mind for a small rage, barb power attack I and the 10% movement speed.

Regarding favored enemies: undead is always good while leveling but i wonder how many evil outsiders you will encounter. Other choices could be constructs or giants (works on much more than giants, basicly everything larger than a human is considered giant) but its fine either way you go.

Just one idea, and it's really a preference, if you take Fighter 2 and rogue 6, you trade the 1d6 SA for an extra feat and fighter strength 1.

FE - undead and giants are two I usually take. Giants include trolls and (I think ) ogres.

Rgr DEX II is a pre-req for Tempest II, so you can't drop it. Assassin I is pretty meh - the poisons don't work AFAIK so all you're really getting is +1D6 SA - but you seem to have plenty of APs to spare so it's not like there's anything better.

If you were planning to run epics, I would recommend considering rgr 12 / rog 8; lose a feat and some HPs, but gain Imp Uncanny Dodge and W&S Mastery III. As it is, however, you might want to consider rgr 12 / rog 6 / ftr 2 for the extra feat and +1 STR enh. You miss out on the extra d6 SA from rog 7 @ lvl 20, but since you're planning to TR again right away, who cares?

My standard FE picks for leveling are: Undead, Giants (which inc. ogres & trolls), Evil Outsiders. Again, if this were an endgame-/epic-focused build, I might switch them around so you have, say, Construct for the Cannith quests or elf for fighting drow in MotU.

Setting aside epics & EDs, CL&GC are still the main AoE atks for melee toons. It sucks that offhands don't proc on cleaves, but it's still fun to spam them on TWF builds.

Well yeah, but that's mostly because they are also the ONLY AOE options for a melee. I wasn't impressed before i went into epic levels but maybe this is a typical case of "mileage may vary depending on playstyle"...

edit; OP did you consider quickdraw as a feat? It not only lets you swap weapons much quicker, it also quickens all the various boosts you have available on this build. I know that I can't do without it anymore on Axess (12ftr/7rogue/1barb).

To be pedantic: Whirlwind Atk is also an option and would only cost two feats on a Tempest (CE+WA). Not saying that's a good idea, much less an improvement over CL+GC, but it is possible!

Don't knock it (too much) until you try it. Then you can (a little).

Yeah I was thinking of your build when I said that. The problem with Whirlwind is it still does that double-spin animation, but atks only proc during the first spin, IIRC. So, in essence, Whirlwind takes twice as long as it ought to finish. Turbine should fix it to either do a single spin or proc atks on both spins.
