that's not the point, the RMAH does what is suposed to do... but come on, you got that rly nice item, will you rly sell it for some gold? whenyou can get some money?

that's the problem, it kills a bit of the ingame trading... and this is already happening in ddo

right now to trade for tp cards or ottoboxes, or whatever, you need to stay logged in yelling on trade or post at the forums... it is a bit annoying, now with a ah? hell post and forget :\

and in my opnion, destroying a bit of the ingame trade system (plat, scales, etc) and allowing you to bypass this using real money kinda suck, and removes a lot of the game flavor... but hell... turbine knows better right? at least i hope they do...

I quickly scanned through the thread and didnt see the answer to this question.

Now that I farmed all this gear and auctioned it for a pile of astral shards....

What exactly can I do with these shards?

Buy gear on the Shard Exchange, of course!

    Buy a guild airship?

There are some uses for shards, but few of them are any good.

Trade them to a new NPC that they'll add for exclusive items, such as +100% exp potions, res cakes that can not only be used in raids but can be consumed by you while you're dead, +5 tomes, etc.

I jest, but this seems to be the path we're headed down.

Yes, when players starting asking for ways to trade or sell off Bound itmes.

Using a rez cake while you are dead is different from current rez cakes...how?

That'll be just after 95% of named items were changed to BtCoE, right? For game design/economic balance reasons?

Just a coincidence, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

    I look at it this way;

Players ask and ask and ask and ask to trade/sell Bound items and they finally get it. But it comes with a cost.

Just like reincarnation. Players asked for for it forever. They finally get it and it costs.

Both are not exactly what players wanted in the end, but they got what they asked for.

I don't personally fault the players for asking for these things because at the heart of the requests is a good idea.

It costs them to give us what we want and so that cost is passed on to us. It's the way the world works and yes, that's how it works in online gaming.

Right or wrong, we are dealing with a business that provides us with a leisure time activity - and it costs a lot to provide that.

We are getting what we asked for, just not the specific way we wanted it. All we can do is try to help them provide a better service to us or choose not to use it.

    I choose to do both.

Besides the new ASAH, certain venders are the only things I know of.

It crosses a line and gives game advantage a) to people with more cash and b) where it wasn't possible before (when named items were unbound).

They can sell me all the XP pots and Hearts they like but I don't want them to sell a way to bypass game mechanics that are apparently there for good reason.

That is subjective and you know it. Most all loot related mechanics are there for one reason. To slow people down from getting instant gratification therefore getting bored and leaving. The problem is, as a whole, gamers are demanding gratification earlier due to how gaming as a whole has changed across the board, therefore the mechanics that once were semi psychologically measured are no longer in bounds with reality to make a profit on average.

Exactly. You increase grind to apparently increase longevity but then undo the benefit by allowing a pay mechanism to bypass the restriction. "Good reason" was fairly sarcastic in tone... there's either a reason or not, not a "good reason 'til you can afford to get round it" reason.

I may or may not like th ASAH either, but it is going to be there. Some might even use it - good or bad.

Thankfully, I have surrounded myself with like minded players and this ASAH will not impact our gameplay in the least.

I say let people with disposable cash buy up the over-priced junk loot. Won't hurt us at all will it? A bad player with fancy bought loot is still a bad player in the end right?

We will still Quest and trade with Guild and friends for ours still, that won't change. It won't for me, and from the sound of it, won't for you.

So I say let them buy over-priced trash. It will harm the buyer in the end and lessen their experience by buying their way to some fancy pixilated trash. Fool and his money...

If this will make Turbine some money by some people buying loot vs questing for it, good for Turbine and good for us. More money equals more content for us. So drain that bank account, max that credit card and waste that allowance so I can have more content to run with my Guild and friends.

I see what you're saying. It's the same tack I took with raid timers. I can't really dispute it. The only instance I can think of it hurting is if future end game raids have a high gear watermark (like Shroud did) and AS let people hit that watermark where those grinding their own loot can't.

I guess we all just have a line and this is mine!
