Thread: DR/Evil

  1. #1

    Default DR/Evil

With the introduction of the Ghost-Waking cloak, it's time to sit down and identify exactly what bypasses DR/Evil. After some initial testing, here's what I personally have identified:

    Mobs that DO* break DR/Evil
    Bearded Devil
    Bebilith
    Draegloth
    Dretch
    Flesh Render
    Glabrezu
    Goristro
    Hezrou
    Horned Devil
    Marilith
    Orthon
    Succubus

*For multiple different types (succubus, hezrou and goristro so far) even though their melee attacks do break dr/evil, if they range attack you they do not break it. I have not found a single range attack that breaks dr/evil from any mob, including archers in the desert, orchard, gianthold, etc... Even the ones shooting evil arrows. (See screen shot here.)

Mobs that do NOT break DR/Evil
    Archers shooting evil arrows
    Bezekira
    Drider
Drow (including undead, aka Drow Soul)
    Hag (sora kell, etc...)
    Jarilith
    Rakshasa
Spider (any kind; fiendblood, harrower, terror, undead versions of them, etc...)
    Tiefling
    Vampire
    Wight
    Wraith
    Zombie

I'd like suggestions for what mobs to go test. For those who'd like to join in, the two easiest ways to get DR/Evil in the current game:

    1) Be a paladin and cast the Angelskin spell
    2) Turn in 5 necro3 scarabs for a Kaelth's Touch, a trinket that gives DR/Evil. (You can buy the scarabs from the AH.)

EDIT: So far it looks like DR/Evil can only be broken by evil outsiders, and even then not all evil outsiders can break it.

If you want to test, I'd test current endgame, drow, assorted demons, and driders. As a side note wizking skelle archers do evil damage, and I think the archers in cry for help and the aurum liar do as well.

Read my mind; on my way there next after having just checked rakshasas and jariliths in gianthold.

More specific details would be great. I'd love to find them and see with my own eyes in the combat log. All archers in those quests, or just certain ones? If all archers, does that include mobs that generally melee but also can pull out bows?

Here are a few other mobs that can break DR\Evil:

    Vern Troyer
    Scott Evil
    Austin Powers

Not sure just remember getting torn up by evil damage arrows there on my pally life. I'd help check but I'm sick as a dog ATM and honestly don't have the energy to do much more than use my iPad.

I also remember taking slightly more of a beating than I expected in Litany of the dead, during the ambush section. So maybe something like quells or wheeps might do the job. Or there could have just been those skeletal archers copy pasted in from wiz king.

Here's the plan: We get the Thread of the Weave, and then we hold the world ransom for:

    *dramatic zoom in*

    ONE MILLION GOLD!

Here's a riddle for you: What do you call people who play the game for only a day and apparently know everything?

I've got a great idea. Why don't we name this high HP analysis after a famous DDO legend?

We'll call this call it the Alan Parsons Project.

There definately are skeleton archers in menectharum that do evil damage.

Any tips on narrowing down exactly where?

All the ones in the slayer area definitely. I wouldn't be surprised if all skellies in that pack do it. I'm pretty sure that the gnolls in Mt. Reysalon also hit for evil damage, but I'm not sure about the gnolls in the desert as they rarely last long enough to hit me.

No archers that I can find do evil damage:

    - Desert Skeletons (Eternal Hunter)
    - Desert Gnolls (Windlasher Harrier)
    - Mt Reysalon Gnolls (Mountain Gnoll Warrier)
    - Orchard Elves (Cultist Sentry)
    - Orchard Skeletons (Frostmarrow Huntsmen)
    - Gianthold Gnolls (Windlasher Runner)
    - Gianthold Orcs (Wyrm Cult Impaler)

None of these archers showed their damage as evil in the combat log, and none of them were able to bypass DR/Evil.

What am I missing? I've been wandering around various explorer areas for over an hour and have yet to find a single evil-aligned arrow from any archer anywhere.

EDIT: And I'm testing this on my pally, so I should be taking any evil damage anyone is sending my way.

Well when they hit me I get a purplish bain symbol come up. I assumed it was an evil aligned weapon as I am neutral good and other alignment weapons would have no effect on me. I will be honest and say I never checked the log. I should go in at some point and pay more attention. I honestly never really cared what kind of damage I was getting hit with, just the amount.

I do know that the Marilith in ADQ definitely has evil aligned weapons.
