    Default Ranged Only Completionist

    Ok I am starting up on what i believe to be a pretty ambitious goal. Completionist. Here is the twist. I hate melee characters :P. I don't much care for caster characters even though i've made a few. I like ranged builds but really not that into the AA builds. Really like repeaters. I know some people won't get this or whatever. I don't care. I am going to be going with pretty ranged focused builds for all classes involved.

    Current planned life order:

    3x Ranger --- +2 to ranged damage per life for a total of +6, Pretty essential to what i am planning in my opinion.
    1-3x Paladin---5% healing amp--- not too sure about doing more than 1 life of this... will depend on how many builds will run forgie as race.
    1-3x Barbarian ---10 Hp per past life... enough said.
    1x Bard
    1x Fighter
    1-3x Monk --- +1 damage per attack... will see how much a difference the 3 ranger past lives make and see if i want 3 of there or to move them up in order.
    Beyond this point not sure... if i even make it to this point i will be doing good lol.

    I'm sure there are some improvements to be made. I went Drow for a bit of flavor. Second life is probably going to be Warforged with a similar layout on stats/feats. I solo a lot and the forgie i think is going to do fine on self healing... as it is I have 65% or more of my sp at end of quest with never hitting a shrine.
    Going to reserve a few posts after this for other builds of which i have a few worked out. I know these will be sub-optimal builds and i know some people will come here decrying the use of some skills/stat layouts/feats and other such stuff. I am fine with discussing that but i won't be changing certain points of my builds... Ranged/repeater based being one of them.

    I suggest you give some serious thought to taking fighter life (and 3 of them) as early as possible. the stacking +3 to-hit would go a long way during leveling, especially for a soloing ranged toon, as I'm guessing you'll be shooting on the run most of the time.

    also, while they are still available, get a heavy repeater with a large guild augment (or whatever size you can use with your current guild). that too would be invaluable for your leveling, providing an additional +4 to-hit. slap shards of screaming & bleed on it, and you'll be rocking.

    after that's been taken care of, leveling any class on a 6/7/7 or 6/6/8 platform would be a breeze.

    if you don't craft, you could easily find someone to craft those shards for you, as they require relatively low levels of crafting. but in all honesty, if you're taking on a completionist project, you should look into picking up crafting.

    Is your end-build Artificer? That affects my recommendation, but this is the PL matrix I am using for my Completionist Artificer: (These are the classes to take 3x)

    Tier 1 -- Ranger
    Tier 2 -- Rogue, Sorcerer, Monk
    Tier 3 -- Druid, Artificer, Cleric

    Rogue for the bonus to saves, since no evasion on the Artificer
    Sorcerer for the Blade Barriers
    Cleric for the Turret
    Druid for the pet boosts
    Combined with the Wizard PL feat and the Completionist feat

    Fighter isn't worth taking 3x in my opinion, given the changes to the combat system.

    Thanks for the replies. As for the 3x fighter life recommendation i was originally planning to do 3 of them pretty early but i find even on my first life build with just what gear i'm finding... started all this on a new server... even with that i am hardly ever missing. I just don't think it's needed really.

    My current plan is to end as a Artificer yes. In a way i agree with your layout of what classes to take and such but i will be taking those later. I hardly ever use runearms other than as extra stuff on them... rarely use them to attack. I know it's sub optimal but i just can't be bothered when i'm pew pewing :P

    Some builds are currently planned as 7/7/6, some as 8/6/6 and some as deeper splashes such as 12/6/2 for bard/rogue/arti. Will try to get around to posting some more builds soon.

    Welcome to the Arty TR train...

    Sounds like you're still running your first life so I suggest using this life or the TR1 life to start/finish getting your gear in place. Stuff like level specific rune arms (with MasterCraftsman for the -2Level min), Cannith Crafted repeaters/accessories, etc... and set this aside to swap out at specific levels. I had set all this aside before I went for the first TR, so all subsequent lives I will end up doing, will end up using the exact same gear...makes inventory management soooooo much less stressful.

    You're essentially doing the same TR build I'm using for my own completionist Arty attempt.
    This is something like a WF 6Arty(BEngineer)/6Rogue(Mechanic)/XClass or WF 9Arty/2Monk/9XClass when I want to change things up.

    Enjoy the ride and hopefully see you whenever we both get to the end ;P

    I too am on a Artificer TR train ride. Currently on 6th.

    I can't currently give you much details of my builds as I'm away from home but can give you an idea of builds I've used & plan to use. All have & will be Human life's.
    1st: Bard20 - A retried toon.
    2nd: Arty20 - Loved the class so collected all gear need for TRing plus Lv20 setup.
    3rd & 4th: Ranger11/Arty9 - All the arty buffs & trap skills needed.
    5th: Sorc12/Arty8 - Earth Sorc plus Arty buffs & trap skills.
    6th: Druid18/Arty1/Monk1 - Druid caster build with range backup plus Useable trap skills.
    Planned 7th: Wiz14/Arty6 - Archmage plus Arty buffs & trap skills.
    8th+: re-run above life's as wanted.
    Might throw in some Rogue & Pally life's but unsure if I need them or want to make ranged repeater builds of these.
    Not planning on running any other classes based on their past life feats.
    Final life: Arty20

    Hope you enjoy your's as much as I have so far.

    As you will be manyshotting and/or fusilaging every life I suggest a lit 2 bow and crossbow for bosses and quests where you take too long for your taste to kill mobs. And ooze for the rest. Because its a wonderful thing not having to run and kite because the mobs are attacking a bunch of puddings.

    I honestly know nothing about greensteel crafting atm. I bought vale not long before i took my long break and never got into crafting greensteel that much because i never planned to TR. Now starting on a new server i am considering looking into it but atm haven't. Probably should start looking into it though just hit level 17 with enough xp for 18 and a rank beyond that tonight.

    Currently working on leveling up cannith crafting to be able to make some low level twink items for when i tr. Going to be a while before i can make anything very useful at that stuff though. Also looking into cannith challenge items to see what i can get there to tr with as well... don't normally have those but went VIP for 3 months to check out some stuff i don't have to see what i want.

    Posted up a couple more of my build ideas.

    Challenge gear is awesome for twinking tr's.
    The outfit with its freezing ability, and the ring for manslayer and seeker, and +2% dodge by slotting mobility if you dont have the feat are great.
    And the bracers for the dodge and blur.


    As a completionist, you will probably want certain raid gear, as they are lvl 13/14. Or lower in the case of shroud.

    Tumbleweed from Hox, +6 dex, +2 attackbonus
    Tharne goggles, Vod, sneak attack bonus
    Conq opp hp or sp, Shroud (because even rangers have healingspells, and regaining sp is great)
    Torc, Adq, (same reason)
    Clickies (raise dead, stoneskin, summon dense earth elemental, panacea, displacement), Shroud
    Madstone boots, Reavers Fate, (full bab and str/con increase)

    Completionist is a huge task. Dont burn yourself out by doing multiple lives all the time. They really arent needed for levelling. If you will go Ranged the whole way, Ranger is the big one. +6 to base damage is a LOT.

    Also, dont do the ones you like early, leaving yourself with 6 or 8 you hate at the end. Switch it around. You can do the ones you REALLY dont like for life 1 and 2 to get them over, when you need less XP.

    Well i don't plan any build to not enjoy it... none of these builds will be "optimal". All should be fun in one way or another though. I am mainly doing the order based on what is going to help the later lives be easier... for example taking 3x ranger lives to get the +6 ranged damage per bolt in each following life. Some may not consider my leveling order, which i have yet to put up exactly, to be the best or maybe even smartest. That's ok because everyone has their way of playing the game.

    Edit: note that i changed a few feats on the first life build. I dropped weapon finesse and Improved two weapon fighting as i do not do any melee in this build. Replaced Weapon finesse with Skill focus: UMD. Not sure what exactly i will replace the other with... going to look at maybe insightful reflexes after i can get back in game and see what the difference in my dex and int is.

    My main is currently on his second monk life with completionist and ranger*3 out of the way.

    The build did not start as a repeater build, but became one after I found I enjoyed it alot.

    I do a 7/7/6 or 8/6/6 split for my lives at this point almost exclusively. Two of those classes are the artificer and rogue. The third is the past life being gained. That way I can play mostly the same build with some minor modifications each life. This allows me to keep and optimize the same gear layout per level which is a huge improvement over the original lives I did which were optimized builds for the class (and were greatly helped by certain gear).

    Of course wiz/sorc lives are not that breakdown as they level super fast pure/near pure with maybe a barb level or evasion splashed in.

    Yea most of my lives will be some variation of 7/7/6 or 8/6/6 with some others being 12/6/2. Haven't tried one of the 12/6/2 yet to see how well i'll like it but we shall see. Doing this and having the same build style life after life is going to make gear alot more predictable/affordable i agree. Glad to see i'm not the only one who enjoys repeater builds though

    maybe get barbarian the first life, fighter or paladin the second?

    Yes i hate melees... barbarian and fighter lives will be done as 7 barb/ 7 rogue/ 6 arti just like the ranger life i am on is. Basically it will be no different than the ranger other than fighter will bring a couple extra feats which will replace the free ones from ranger (precise shot, rapid shot), barb won't bring feats so the barb life i think feats will be a little tighter.

    I guess i haven't stressed enough that all lives will be ranged repeater based. Even cleric/wiz/sorc/fvs lives will use repeaters as their main damage with spells being for buffing/healing. Seeing as game is still down gonna try to put together the paladin life build or maybe barb. Both will be tight on feats i think.

    Added in a paladin build on third post. Feel free to leave comments/discussion on it as i don't have a lot of paladin experience.
