    Default HP/AC Questions

So I have a Pally at lvl 14 now (12Pal/2Ftr). Went the DoS path to try my hand at some tanky-business. My questions are:

Is 68AC and 506HP good enough at lvl 14 for a melee?

Is it good enough for a bottom-end tank?

Is it even on the right track for an end-game tank?

    The AC breakdown:
    10 Base
    2 Dex bonus
    25 Armor
    14 Shield
    5 Natural Armor
    4 Deflection
    5 Misc bonus
    +5% AC bonus (def-fight stance)
    =68 Total

    1% to Dodge (2%max)
Def Chance at Lvl = 66%
    PRR 69

    The HP breakdown:
    140 Base
    154 CON
    96 Feat
    50 Enchanted bonus
    66 HP Adjustment
    =506 Total

I have Toughness feat once, Racial Toughness III, Pally Toughness III, GFL
    CON is:
    18 Base
    2 Inherent
    2 Feat
    11 Enchanted
=33 Total (i know, i know, odd number...)

(Please note I've just recently changed some stuff around on the toon and took lvl 14, MyDDO hasn't updated it yet as of this posting)

No other paladins or tanks out there care to comment? :/

At level 14 you are styling as a first life. 68 AC is going to give you over a 60% chance to not be hit. Add in your good hp, and you will not be a soulstone anytime soon!

I can't comment on end game; my paladins are not super AC beasts.

I'd say your choice of race is what will hamper you the most at end-game.

What race? I don't see it listed in his post and don't see a character name for myddo (tried Turtlsdown, but it wasn't found).

    *Edit
NM, found it. WF eh? Yeah, it's probably a poor choice for tanking. Sure, you can LoH yourself without penalty, but when hate/intimi tanking you want good heal amp and WF have the worst.

Toon is 2nd life (previous was human cleric), wanted to try something different. Yeah the WF idea hasn't panned out quite how I'd hoped, definitely not going WF next life. But judging from the responses, I think I'm at where I should be with AC/HP at this level. It's hard to tell sometimes when one hasn't really cared much about AC on any previous toons.

AC is only a part of good defense. As such, it's hard to look at AC alone and say "yes, this is a fine tank!", especially at a particular level. Really, if you have a defender PrE, heavy armor, and a shield, your AC is fine for leveling.

There's really no track to be on for end-game: between epic gear and destinies, your character can be completely different from 19 to 20.

My advice is not to stress. There are so few encounters that are tank-relevant while leveling anyway, just go out there and have fun.

(And of course, never be WF on a melee.)
