100 TP for completing the first new quest. TP given upon completing a form at a feedback site. Need a good amount of sweetner to pull people in and go thro the effort of accessing llama.

30 TP for completing other new quests for the first time (after completing the very first quest for 50 TP).

10 TP for quest repeations, up to a max of 5 times.

Whatever the numbers most make sense to add up to, I'd wonder if 250-500 TP would be time well spent for giving new content a go in a reasonable amount of time (4-10 hours?). Enough gametime for a lot of feedback.

Real $ we equate with TP is really only programming changes to Turbine ($ for development cost of course).

If and how it could be done from a progamming standpoint? Might just be impossible.

Would be nice I think for many folks. I'm grateful and lucky to have no issue with VIP and additional TP expenditure, but I know many a great folk who do.
I agree this would help them get testing down and aviod bugs, but I doubt they will every do it. They prob. think lost profits they do not have to give up by having them test it on live for while people pay for the product. The question is do they lose more profits from unhappy customers vs saving a buck to put out a lesser quality product. Even thoug I have to points given to you at the end the quest after filling out a survey. Simple survey asking you do you enjoy the quest, what did you like, what did you not like, any bugs, and so on. One time event of course, each survey and quest complete earn you something like 15 short quest, 25 Medium quest, and 35 for Long quest. To me these small rewards for helping them build a better product are needed.

Well they have given out TP as rewards for people playing on Lamannia. So can't agree with your statement.
We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected as a winner of our recent Lamannia testing event! We randomly selected several players who participated on April 14th, and each of the winners is receiving a DDO 250 Point Code for the Live servers.

    They can and did.

    - Some people were rewarded by straight TP for participating
    - Some people were rewarded by the PAX Swag Bag Coupon ( XP Potions + White Doggy Pet +TP ) for participating in MoTU beta.

Default Moved thread and other things

I'm sure you have noticed that I moved the thread. It seemed more fitting for it to live under Lamannia Discussion.

I am currently working on making life on Lamannia a bit more pleasant and more self-sufficient (so you don't have to wait for me or another dev to pass out goodies). My two current projects are getting the Guide permanently added and making sure a wider variety of items (including new named items) are available in the Auction House. This way you'll be able to run through new content with leveled and geared toons and get to see and use the new items. However, these are works in progress, and I have to fit in working on them amongst my other responsibilities and commitments.

As for creating a system that rewards participants with TP. That system would be complicated, and ensuring that players couldn't exploit the system to generate infinite TP would be very time consuming. As such, I don't forsee this happening anytime soon. However, once I complete the other two projects, I will look into incentives for participating on Lamannia. (If I don't have to run as many XP/Loot events, I would be able to run more incentive based events.)

I'm much more interested in preparing my characters for when epic giant hold hits live servers.
Like, trying to get my character to lvl 20.

I've always had more superficial benefits in mind, when thinking about potential lammania rewards. Something like an exclusive pet, hat or one-time-use goodie (like cake slice)...

a while ago 25tp where given for testing motu. If was not a lot but is made it seem that we were given a little something for iour time testing instead of playing on the live. If your able to at some point do rewards they would not have to be grand or great just a little something for time we spend testing

The thing is, Lamannia is not a test server - it's a preview server. Which is also why only major bugs (not going to define this) are fixed before it's deployed on the live servers.

It doesn't have to be automated... and it doesn't have to be widespread.

That's what MajMal did previously, he selected a number of people that participated.
Just the fact that you can, eventually, at the end of a given Test/Preview build cycle have a chance to earn some goodies ( it doesn't have to be always TP, it can also be potions, pets, ... ) would be great.

For the Item/Level problem, really what is needed is a few friends to Sir Pointalot. Maybe in the location relevant to what they offer. ( Gianthold Items given by somebody in Gianthold, Greensteel components to be found in Meridia, XPs, not far from one of the trainer pack. )

Thanks Squeak, I'm sure it'll be a little easier for people to check out Lam and help you guys run down bugs if we didn't all have to wait for a dev event to get some of the conditionals items. I think the guide is awesome. And you added scripts to fill the AH with named items is perfect. Then the dev events can be for everything else you guys can't script.

In regards to TP - I gladly participate in these events regardless of rewards. However if there was such a thing as a reward to do specific tasks on the test server I think a better alternative would be something that translates back to live in a meaningful way. It can be a small thing. Like X restored relics if I did X thing on lam. As long as you can verify that I did it and you can script the event. That way I get something that relates to what we were playtesting on lam and just something that people who don't participate will get themselves eventually.

    Great idea's +squeak!

Participation rewards would encourage more to download, install, and join in the fun.

What about actual incentives? Most bug reports in a week for "X" TP? Unique pet for someone chosen at random from top 10 bug reporters?

Would there be legality issues with something like that? If you can motivate people like that it would be a win-win for all of us.

grey area indeed. randomly giving away 'swag' or TP for logging on lamma would be fine, but giving TP for bug reports could have some labor law issues. Testing their software for TP was brought up by a dev long ago, and this was a reason stated.

wow what a bad topic. most only go there to test and that is it. Since they know they don't get to keep anything why stay on? When any new update comes a few people wonder over to lam to look around. Test a few things. try a new build out then they come back.

why anyone would stay on a test server makes no sense to me. the only time i ever saw a ton of people was either at the events or when a new build went live. That is usually about it.

What does loot matter there anyways, when the characters are transient and when the Devs hand the loot out for free?
I agree. Proof read the program laungauge before launch and fix the problems that are reported, Every progammer who ingores this is held responslibe for better or for worse. I asume and I am really hitting the assume ball out of the park on this, but I think that sometimes game breaking bugs make it live is because there is no proof reading?!

What about special store discounts for participating on Lamannia? A stacking 20% off discount to one item in the DDO store on the live servers would be helpful, as an example. Would that be easier to make than rewarding Turbine Points?

Here's a riddle for you: What do you call people who play the game for only a day and apparently know everything?
