    Default PM Mid-lvl Gear

So, my Pale Trapper is now lvl 11, and I have realized my gear is a falling a bit behind.

I think its time to retire my Chrono set, and prolly replace it with Sora Kell, but let me tell you what im wearing now.

    Head: Helm of Frost
    Goggle: INT +4
    Neck: Natural Armor +4
Trinket: Kneeza's Bauble (I know, but what else is out there ftp?)
    Back: Envenomed Cloak
    Robe: Heavy Fort / Hammerblock
    Belt: Greater False Life
    Glove: Charged Gauntlets
    Bracers: Scorched Bracers
    Boots: Corrosion
    R1: 20% striding
    R2: Power IX

I dont have any low lvl packs, so Minos, Voice, and a bunch of other goodies are out of the question.
Im just kinda wondering how to fill the slots that the Chrono set will leave open. Also, this is really lacking in other slots.. What do you recomend I find to put in these holes?
I really have nothing appropriate on. Perhaps the GFL and SP items are where they should be.. but no other bases covered..
I kinda want to know what im trying to do on my way to 20.
I will be TRing right away, so no need or epic gear just yet. Need some past lives before I park it on a max spell penn elf PM.
    Thanks again for any help

Maybe retire it in pieces, as you replace parts of it. I find the gloves from the Chrono set hard to replace before I get around to switching to the ones from OOB (probably when i hit necro 4). Oh, wait - i don't know if you have the desert pack. Tell us more about where you'll be questing; we can tell you more about what's out there. Sora Kell isn't horrid, but you'd rather have a minos legens (from the Orchard of the Macabre (Necro 4 pack) for your helm, strider boots over a ring (frees a ring slot for a +6 stat, ML11), cloak would be at your discretion, and there are a lot of bracers out there anymore.
Argonessen: Jhanrae, Weisen Heimer, Chaard O'Nay, Soulah, and more. Khyber: Dyzzie and Myssie for escape from Argo drama

    Thanks for the response..

As for what packs I have:

    Devil assault
    Sands
    Gianthold
    Attack on stormreach
    Vale of twilight
    Devils of shavrath

I also should mention, I plan on using greensteel, so I want to make a conn opp that will last through a couple of lives. so should it be head? (darkstorm) or goggle? (Int slot in epics?) or glove?
HP or SP? (where should I put the other, and what other effects?)

I see some other threads that are discussing similar topics, but I wonder about the non "cap" stuff, as I will be grinding lives. (for the first time too) (on a new server... ouch)

The main effects i'd look for are: Int+6, Resist+5, GFL, Con+6, Toughness. Intelligence for offense and the rest for staying alive. If you were not PM, a Fortification item would be on that list too.

Int can be on goggles but can be on many other slots too. I have played through a couple wizard lives and been extremely happy about greensteel goggles with HP+Conc.Opp (dont think they ever come off really) but ppl have different preferences.

Where do you put your SP item?

do you think it worth it to craft sp gloves? or a SP conn opp weapon?

As far as greensteel, my personal preference is:

    +45 HP Concordant Opposition "main"
+300 SP Raise Dead necklace -- cleansed (shrine swap)

The idea being that the GS spell points can be used to go into form and cast a few buffs, and then it's useless. So I slot it on neck since torc doesn't help at shrines and GS spell points don't help once you leave the shrine. Be sure to cleanse the necklace shrine swap, since you may eventually have to move the "main."

As for where to slot the "main" gs item, slots to avoid at all costs:

Hat (Blue Dragon Helm is good enough to warrant leaving the option open)
    Necklace (Torc!)
Bracers (Demon Consort, clear best-in-slot for pale masters)

    And try to avoid:

Goggles (prime candidate for slotting either +8 or +3 int)
Cloak (lots of good caster cloaks)

Gloves are probably the safest slot currently to make a GS item. Boots are also an option, as is belt. Goggles used to be the prime slot for GS, but there are simply too many very nice caster goggles in the game right now.

EDIT: A concop weapon is not worth it, no.

    quick improvements:

purchase +6 int goggles. unless you're on wayfinder, AH should have these cheaply.
fallback is Scepter of the Fleshweaver, should be also cheap on AH.

trinket: craftable. turn in your festival coins and hope for a craftable trinket. not sure what your crafting is, probably not too great. useful low level craftable stuff: mobility/blindness immunity of persuasion/good luck

I don't have any permanent SP item but use use a swap'able greensteel SP* item (and when I bother also archmagi, large slot item and a Cunning trinket; 130 more sp). Like EllisDee37 describes, you only need those sp items while shrining and until you have spent the sp. So swap for something useful after going into form/buffing.

Conc.Opp weapon? I don't know, don't have one. But I think Conc.Opp weapon+other item both being able to proc is not WAI and may be fixed.

    * This character started as a divine so the greensteel sp item has haste clickies. It would definitely be better with raise dead like the one EllisDee37 describes, I just haven't recrafted.

I also have 3xpos GS item, unfortunately it's HP/SP/SP so I hesitate to swap it.

Also, my con-ops is in goggles, so I'm in the dilemma now that I need to re-craft GS items for end game (thinking min II HP gloves and con-ops SP helm or boots).

Some of this depends on how much shroud grinding you are willing to do over the course of your lives. I personally crafted a +6int/+1int/+2int weapon, which is by far the best you can do from level 12-19 for TR, maybe even until 24 when you can wear +8 int items etc. Also, you say you are just TRing when you hit 20, but I strongly recommend farming a torc first life though to use on following lives.

Make very sure you don't want a blue dragon helm before choosing the head slot.

If you are planning on running a bunch of wizard lives I would highly suggest you spend a little extra time grinding out gear this life to speed your leveling -- gear suggestions are based on leveling to 20 and then TRing -- for 20+ I would suggest looking at some of the end-game options.

Also either grind out or buy the TP needed for Necro 4 -- there is a lot of good items for a PM in there.

Head: Cove hat with Superior False Life and +13 Concentration - min lvl 11 (Crystal Cove-- coming soon)
Trinket: Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone (Archmagi and SP9) - min lvl 5 (Dreaming Dark, however you can just buy the stone on the AH and get someone to give you a guest pass to upgrade it)
Neck: Torc - min lvl 11 (Sands)
Goggles: Con-opp Green Steel (Spell points/Cha skills) - min lvl 11 (Vale)
Bracers: Demon Consort - min lvl 11 (Demon Sands)
Body: Levels <11: Crafted Invulnerability of Life shield w/ guild augment, levels 14+: Shroud of the Abbot (Necro 4); level 12 and 13: maybe Blue scale.. really anything works though, I wouldn't worry about it
Back: Loot gen or crafted +5 resistance cloak - min lvl 9
Gloves: 45 hp enveration guard Green Steel (Vale)
Belt: Lion Headed is nice (Sands), or a +6 con belt
Rings: Crafted Greater Necro/Enchantment Focus- min lvl 11 are nice, Circle of Hatred (Necro 4) is amazing - min lvl 13, if you are going to run yugo pots in life 2-3, heavy fort is good
Boots: Rock boots (lvl 12 tier 2 and if you have the patience the lvl 16 ones as well) - Cannith challenges (free token/day)
Hands: Green Steel +9 intelligence stick (min lvl 12) is cheap and amazing, fill the other hand with a spell power+lore of your choice; If you get a staff of the petitioner move Intelligence to a ring slot

That will give you a solid leveling gear set, with only the purchase of one additional pack (Necro 4), and a guest pass to dreaming dark. It will take some effort to acquire all the above gear but your second and third life wizard will thank you for it.

My cleric is currently running through a couple wizard lives for spell pen, and he's doing the pale trapper route. He just today hit 14 and equipped his ML16 frozen tunic. (Yay, masterful!) Glaciation +90 with superior ice lore is a beautiful thing at level 14. Do the same with rock boots and the acid/ice combo is good to go. It's rather unfortunate that I find the frozen tunic hideous, but oh well.

Great call on the Tunic, however; the OP doesn't have the challenge pack so I was trying to limit the challenge grind as much as possible.

If the OP can afford it, the challenge pack is not a bad idea, there is a lot of good gear in there for multiple builds

Yeah, I wouldn't advise buying cannith challenges. Maybe just collect the free daily tokens and think about getting some ML16 tier 1 items. They don't have as much spell power as tier 3, but they don't cost all that many parts.

I'm kinda in the same boat when it comes to mid-levels. My *plan* was to swith to a Marbar robe...until I discovered that my lowest level Marbar robe was lvl 16. ****!

Around lvl 10 or so I drop the Abashai set and move to something else namely because you're outgrowing the benefits the set provides. What you're left with is bit of a hole when it comes to a lot of gear. That changes around lvl 16. I had a Minos Legens and my greensteel items ready when I changed, but the rest I basically went Cannith crafting and twinked like mad.
Antipan, Pandargon, Pandolin, Panifin, Panmorgan, Pangrael, and all other things "pan-ed"...

Yeah, Ive retired the Abashai set.

I switched over to Sora Kell for now. (unlocking it for the higher stat boosts, and true seeing is nice)
Found a Con+6 necklace, and an Int+6 goggle last night. so I dropped the scepter of the fleshweaver, and picked up a spell pen dagger.
Found a Tough cloak on the AH, so now Im looking for a resistance item.. and I have to start farming ADQ for Demon consort and Torc.

Im feeling a bit naked with two empty slots, but I think they will fill fast.

Thanks again for all the advice.

    If you're a wizard, you'll need +2 or +1 necromancy dc item.

Finger of death/wail/circle of death will do you wonders as a wizard.
