Default "The Ghost Mountain" - My standard monk build

Yes, horrible name. Actual toon name is different of course.
Name is because of having pretty high HP while being really hard to hit:
    80AC
    displacement: 1.1 ghostly * 1.5 displace clickies = 1.65 (65% concealment)
    stoneskins
    12% dodge
    =======
65% to 77% (average: 71%) chance not to get hit with 10 DR/adamantine.

Lets say im attacked by something that does 100 damage per hit, 10 hits a minute.
I can tank 2.5 to 3 minutes. (purely statistically, Its possible that the enemy will roll only 100/100 and hit me each time, then its just 48 seconds, and he may keep rolling 1's, making it possible to tank forever)

Very nice build. Still studying how you managed that large HP level.

For your head, a Minos Legens might give you more Toughness (if stackable) but certainly Heavy Fortification if you haven't it elsewhere (I didn't see it but I'm not quite an encyclopedia of item benefits).

One thing: I think you're calculating something wrong with Concealment...to your benefit (per this dev post: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php...10#post4442310).

"...With the upcoming expansion pack, I've fixed this by changing Ghostly to a 10% Incorporeal bonus to miss chance. Incorporeal miss chance functions alongside Concealment. (For example: If you have both Blur and Ghostly, then an enemy attack would have to roll against Blur's 20%, then Ghostly's 10% individually before it can hit you.)."

So, as of MoTU, enemies have to bypass Concealment, then Incorporeal, then Dodge. From there, saves and AC take over. So if you have Displacement, that's 50% miss chance, with 10% that Ghostly gives for miss chance after that, then 18% Dodge for your next miss chance.

That's been working well for my Dark Monk Ninja with Shadow Fade and items that give 10%/25%/24% for her when she's Faded.

Heh thanks, its pretty much my best build yet, been trying to find flaws in it for nearly 6 months, and I cant find any. I touch something I ruin it.
Yeah I thought of a minos but my armor has both toughness and heavy fort so kind of a waste. But, you could say then that my build is not gear intensive, but still is pretty strong. if I can do this with 2 gear slots missing, think about full gear.
And as to the concealment, yeah, I thought I was doing something wrong.

    new calculation:
    base - 1.00
    after displacement - 0.5
    after ghostly - 0.45
    (45% chance to hit)
    after dodge - 27
    (27% to hit)
that will be then passed to the 10 DR and 80AC, meaning that if we say they get past my ac 50% of the time, means that there is a 13.5% chance for me to get hit, and then get -10 damage to the attack. (When I look at ti again, its actually calculated correctly in the original, 1.5*1.1 gives me my being hit chance+1)

As to the HP, I really, REALLY have no idea. although m working on getting 1k HP in barbarian epic destiny now, while keeping crazy damage granted by it aswell.

You may already know this, but melee alacrity from Jorg's doesn't stack with haste. So it is great while soloing, but mostly is superseded when haste is available. Which is kind of a bummer for ol' Jorgundal. The good news for you is that you can equip Kyosho's or Oremi's necklaces from Amrath instead... This also fills in your second ring slot - holy bursted of course.

yeah I know that, which is what I usually do! I'm just working on getting a TOD ring atm and upgrading it.

    Hi,

IMHO, if you are going for defence... you should try U Sentinel epic destiny. LD and fury also gives you more HP.... You will
probably go above 1000 HP with them. There are also some twists like Lithe (+6 saves and Armor class), the +6 PRR one from Fury, etc.

I would also try to get as much PRR as possible... the Bear Cloak from evening star challenges is nice for that.

Helmet... Purple Dragon is easy to get.... Necklace... random WIS +8 till you get your ToD set.

As you have lots of HP for a monk... Instead of the Sustaining Symbiont you could use some +3 insight WIS Planar focus trinket. No GFL, but more DC and AC.

I forgot I had a +8 wis helm from my alts past life, theres thwe wis fixed. and I guess yeah, Ill look into a +3 insight wis trinket. and I also thought of getting the bear cloak, although I first want to get to 25 before that, im 24 and 2/3.

    edit:
It wont help, will get me to an odd number. so kind of a waste.
And as to cloak of the bear, I'm not sure I should replace the min2 cloak, since it wont change that much, and the 20% aggro isnt exactly what i want, I'd prefer to stay with as little aggro as possible, being less hit is better.

Wondering why you spent 4 epic AP on +2 dex and left the water stance'ish one alone? with that AP could get 3 ranks of that +1 rank of the tier 1 epic enhancement that gives balance + something else and +1% dodge. End up with 12 stacking cold, 6 AC, more stuff in water if your ever in water and the 1% dodge & +2 balance. VS +1 AC and +1 reflex?

Also not to nitpick, but I feel the patient tort animal path is inferior to monkey path in overall utility and durability. The GMoF stacking resists added to monkey path resists, it gets extremely useful. The added trap saves are also very useful to a monk which usually has marginal trap saves at best.

Not sure, but I think it is easier to get challenge ingredients when you are at lower than 25... as you can run in lower diffs without penalties.

I just noticed that you didn't get Scattering of petals... I find that useful for the extra dodge.

I ransacked the damn hags chest for the Ivy wraps for months... I was so happy when I got them... but I never use them.

I thought that the vampirism would have the same self healing that the vampiric stonedust does at leveling... but it is not enough IME.

I am never in water, so I decided to leave it alone.
As to turt instead of monkey, my reflex is almost 50 unbuffed, I once got 100 reflex in caught in the web. I dont think a small bonus to reflex will make a change.

I think that with my heal amp it will be enough. vampirism is 1d3, with over 200% heal amp im getting 2, 4 or 6 per hit, + light hit (1d2 x2 = 2,4) which makes it a total of 4/6/8/10 HP per hit. Seems like good self heals, especially in air stance.

So I just got Ivy wraps (23), and I'm in love with them. solod VON3 epic hard with them without drinking a single heal potion or a hire. I heal 6-10 HP per hit at a crazy rate. yes its less DPS, but definitely way better.

    Okay, a few improvements!
first, added a devotion ring, makes my light finishers heal over 100, add that to 4-10 HP per hit heals and we're talking self heals on a solo epic elites level.

Now that I'm 25 im farming ED's, and I may twist healing spring or some other healing thing if I feel like soloing, hopefully it works with devotion.

overall, this toon can solo anything that doesnt require specific roles or a group.

Mine are also the epic hard one. It took me a long time (~3 months) to get them. When I finally pulled, I've already had an Antipode and was finishing my alchemical wraps.

So... it is not a small difference in damage and utility. The antipode gives me extra 15 PRR, which is hard to get in any pajama clad character, +4 hit/damage and 6% doublestrike. The alchemical gives me extra +2 WIS. Both also have +10 stun.

If there is a lots of small damage I can keep my red bar full using the regular healing curse... or using twists like Fast Healing, healing spring, etc.

When damage comes in big chunks, only heal scrolls or other party members can avoid death and humiliation

So... I can see a situations that I would use the OPs festival burst, shierinking of mauling.... but still trying to find a use for the Ivy.

Well, when I get the antipodes and I twist +30% attack speed from fighter ED I will have 45% attack speed and 19% doublestrike. that is a **** ton. at the moment I use ivy's mainly to solo stuff, since with them I heal myself for 6-10 each hit with the healing curse, and my heal finishers heal for like 100 with a devotion ring. I also sometimes use a staff, especially with barb ED, +400% damage, crit 2-20 x3 for a few hits. also, when getting hit by stuff that hits really hard I use a haste boost (+30% AS) and kite around the thing while hitting it. you can regen your HP so fast its ridiculous. especially with doublestrike, which means I heal for 12-20 HP PER HIT.
