Default Build Request - No Frills Melee

EDIT: Updated with a lot more detail.

I need a melee build for my 7-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, there are a lot of restrictions at the moment; however, I've found that folks are their most creative when restrictions are tightest. So go to town. No ideas are too crazy. Creative leveling and gear suggestions are welcome, also. For example, is running challenges with daily tokens the key to great XP and/or some really good twink gear? I can craft anything for her, if needed.

    Wants:

    • Little or no reliability on clickies - Cleave and Great Cleave are probably the limit here
    • THF - entire THF line is pretty likely
    • Solid defenses (AC, saves, etc.) - Damage mitigation will be far more important than healing
    • Self-sufficient - I'll be doing most of the leveling, and it's just less hassle if I can solo when LFMs are slow.

    Restrictions:

    • Premium account with no additional races/classes unlocked. I'll spring for a new race/class, if necessary, but it has to really make the build.
    • Chaotic Neutral - Unfortunately, no monk or pally splashes, so evasion has to come from rogue or ranger. Again, I'll spring for alignment swaps if I really like the build, but it would almost be easier just to TR the character.

I plan to use her LR +20, so assume 32 pts. Also, any tomes up to +3 and, if necessary, +4. Thanks in advance, guys.

I've never done a clickieless build before, so there's probably some things I've messed up. The one clickie on the build that I think is vital is the power attack. It's a once and done (until the next login). I chose light blades, if you want Longswords or B-swords, change that tree to Heavy Blades.

What in your view counts as a clickie? Every THF is spamming Cleaves these days; ftrs rely on Haste Boost & Power Surge; barbs rely on Rage & Frenzy; etc. Are we talking "can be played with a 360 gamepad" simple; or "can be played with Atari 2600 joystick" simple?

You also neglected to mention what her current build is: race, class mix, alignment, etc. That affects what you can LR into.

The current situation is, as we say in the military, a Charlie Foxtrot. Right now she's a pure barb 7, which means paladin is off the table without multiple alignment swaps. She's a premium account with only the starter pack (Catacombs quests), as she doesn't play enough to justify a bigger investment.

Since I'm the one leveling her character, options like Cleave and Great Cleave are okay. Her current barb build, however, already has five clickie attacks between cleaves and enhancements, plus trip and sunder when needed. Basically, I want the build to function at peak capacity without managing a bunch of clickies and cooldowns. My initial thought was a fighter with a pally splash, but that obviously won't work.

I'll go ahead and update the OP with a lot more detail.

One of the "features" of the U19 Enhancement overhaul is they added a lot of new melee clickies, particularly to barbs, rogs, & rgrs, ranging from nigh-useless to nigh-indispensable. Ironically, ftrs & pallies didn't get a lot of new toys, although they were already pretty click-intensive.

It's possible to make a melee build which just runs around holding down the atk button, of course; but you're missing out on a lot of DPS if you aren't mixing in Cleaves, if nothing else.

I would go for a dex based staff build - the attack speed is helps for people who dont use clickies and between acrobat and kensai you can get nice damage. Its kind of a shame you dont want monk because wind stance also helps if you dont like to click.
Wherever you went - here you are.

Here is a quick staff fighter build up to 12 with choices being made mostly on what would be best for a kid.
It does 3 rogue first for attack speed and dex to damage and evasion.
Then 2 level of fighter for feats that add to dodge then 5 levels of barb or occult slayer stuff then 2 more of fighter.
Occult slayer is nice for all the weapon bond stuff if you dont switch weapons and at level 12 you get vampiric bond which is actually quite nice in heroic levels.

After 12 Id probably do 1 more levels of rogue and 7 more of fighter. Take the dodge and save enhancements in the halfling and fighter tree and and add damage enhancements in acrobat and kensai.

Thanks! That's the kind of build for which I'm looking; it takes advantage of some enhancement lines to make an odd class combo work.

It's always a shame when the hammer of poor design choices smashes the fun of player tactical adaptation.
