Default Epic Gianthold - Other Quest Loot

This thread is for discussing the Named items from the other Epic Gianthold Quests!

I would appreciate it if you also include the related quest name in the title of your post.

    EH Quiver of Poison disappointments:

    1. Lacks an augment slot. A yellow slot for Striding (or other upgrade) is desired.
    2. Only holds 1000 of each arrow (non-epic Quiver of Alacrity holds 1500).
    3. Only holds 3 unique arrows.

The 1d8 poison per arrow is a nice boon. Hope to see more options for this underitemized slot in the near future.

How boring. So you want the exact same item as the Quiver of Alacrity just slightly better? That is boring loot design. I do agree that this an epic quiver vs. the quiver of alacrity which is not so this should be better although the quiver of alacrity is raid loot. I would say the d8 is more then a nice boon, but rather it is best quiver in DDO for any archer other then on mob/bosses reisist to poison. I will be getting that for my archer as will every other archer in DDO because the quiver of alacrity does not add dps.

The quiver slot shouldn't to turn into an extra equipment slot. I have suggested them add a damage to all bolts/arrows to quivers quite a while ago. This is an actual nice bonus. Also, I don't believe anyone is saying you have to get rid of your quiver of alacrity and replace it with this. If you prefer to hold more arrows, and have the bonuses from QoA, then by all means stick with the QoA.

Also, the quivers aren’t exclusive. So fill up as many as you want.

It already is an equipment slot. It's simply been underitemized for years.

At this moment, it is best in slot for any ranged character, which is kind of sad for the state of ranged combat gear. Hopefully there are some more gems hiding in this update.

Would love to see this actual item in the level 16-18 area instead. I know the heroic version hasn't turned up yet (if one exists), but consider HN/HH/HE at 1d4/1d6/1d8 and upgrade EN/EH/EE versions to use the teal bordered Lesser X Poison/Greater X Poison/Virulent X Poison. Poison damage + stat damage at level 25 would make this feel perfect for a top-end epic item.

I don't believe that the quiver slot should be used for anything except ranged enhancements and any slots would just make it a must have for every single character just for increased augment capacity, much like many that have the upgraded Quiver of Alacrity just for the striding. Even doing something as simple as adding a static Proof Against Poison bonus to this will mean it gets used mostly be people that don't want to slot it otherwise.

Quiver of Poison - I have the Epic Hard version on my Artificer and I love it. It’s a direct boon to ranged characters that doesn’t balances out the weakness of the black dragon set bonus for ranged characters.

Ghost Waking Cloak - I like this cloak. However, it doesn’t have a slot. I would suggest converting the +7 resistance portion to a preslotted crystal.

Dream Visor - Woah! 2 Updates in a row that marginalize the most hated loot grind that I have ever seen?!?!? (Abashai and Claw sets) This makes me happy.

Adamantine Knuckles - So far, this is filled with “Meh”. Perhaps some Impellent -> Cosmic action could help? Or maybe a Force detonation effect?

Stats for these would be nice.

As for the quiver, the only complaint I have about it is in how few arrows it holds. It would really nice if it got bumped to 1,500 x5. It doesn't need an augment slot or other benefits than the poison to arrows ability.

I agree, the ability seems fine but it should have a few more slots with higher capacity.

    Default Sever/Fanion - Necro Tome Page Turn-ins

whats the word on upgrading old items I just spent the last few months grinding to get Fanion (my end game shield for my Wiztank) and Sever (The Limbchopper never seems to proc..bug or is everything just immune?) and would love to upgrade it but I doubt it will be worth grinding out another one.

Default Looking at you Feather !!!

Since your in controll of loot . I would say whats up with the ranged items being very lack luster !!

The bonus on the black dragonscale set for ranged is really lame and not epic at all ,You can get 2 points of dmg off of many options 7 lvls below this epic elite stuff . And the bow is kinda meh tbh , i wouldn't even waste my time looking for that . When i think of an epic bow i think of improved crit range / crit mult , great base dmg and a decent effect . Yes i get you we have 2 with good base dmg boesand not everything should be the same but really though come on !!!

Would you want this on your bow user ?

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Kensai, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.

    warhammer:
(sorry can't remember the name of it but elite version has resonance and sonic lore as well as +10 stunning and wailing)

Cool! The game needs a variety of weapon types that are viable and warhammers are one of the types needed. Also neat that it seems to be bard friendly. One thing though, the other top raid hammer from CITW also has +10 stun on it. I feel this is a missed opportunity for twf builds you don't need stun on both weapons so it would be good if it had something else (combat mastery or sunder come to mind but I'm sure there are other things too). It would pair up well with a drow weapon, but making the combat dc aspect of it more synergistic with the CITW hammer would open up twf hammer builds in general.

Default You mean the hammer of leaden clouds

I've seen vender trash that's better I've pulled the epic elite version today !!

Anyway start doing the comparisons it's astounding in terms of power . Yeah I get it citw weopons are raid loot but these are epic elite min lvl 25 Weopons from the highest quest lvl's in game atm !!

I'm not saying that they should be better pretty close .

    Epic Dragon Armors.

Black Dragon Armor : This armor is good as it is .Maybe it lacks Acid absorption.

Blue Dragon Armor: No use for many casters . Imo it lacks Major Arcane lore at least and percentage of electric absorption. Some other suggestions +2 to all dc spells and at least 90 potency . The set bonus is low and it lacks flavor

White Dragon Armor : No use for tanks with shield. Red armors are far much better. Only class would be benefit for them is monk . The hp set bonus is nice though. Increase the ac it gives and make the +6 shield bonus a +7 barskin maybe . I m not sure but in general that armor is weak and needs to be redesigned. Again certainly it lacks ice absorption.

    Epic dragon armors and helms:

The helms in general are nice with the 2 slots, but - maybe i missed something there - if the insightful +3 ability bonus is static, those are lacking of interest for many classes. Especially the blue helm with +3 int favors wizards and maybe artificers, while other casters are completely left out. Also consider that warforged (sorcs) don't have any other sources of +3 charisma so far, so i'd like to see them coming in at least few various +3 insightful ability scores as the planar foci do.

Especially we now finally have new options for helms, since the purple dragon knight helm was the only one in new content and only interesting for melees and when having the full set bonus.

    Among the armors:

The black one is very nice, nothing to really complain about. Maybe an absorption would be nice, but that's for all 3 armors. The set-bonus is nice, but i wouldn't mind seeing an upgrade of like 1 more damage / % doublestrike.

The blue was expectable like that. While greater spell pen IX is a nice shiny, it feels like lacking something... Major arcane lore sounds reasonable, but would more likely make this armor an absolutely must have then, so maybe something like wizardry X, lightning spellpower +120 might be fitting, althought it would make it similar to the shadowmail. At least a spell casting implement should be added in any case.
The set-bonus doesn't look too tempting either, so maybe upgrading arcane lore to major arcane lore with the set-bonus should be considered.

The white one is nice in idea, but bad in design. While it looks like made for tanking, monks are like the only ones who can use the shield bonus at all. So i think either remaining the shield bonus and adding a percentage ac-bonus on equipped shield should be considered or adding something else, like increasing dr/blocking-dr. Also due to the high amount of mobs able to bypass fortification i'd expect a tanking-orientated armor to have exceptional fortification as most other armors/armor-sets have. The set-bonus on the other side is very nice.

Edit: Since the blue dragon is a lightning- and casting-typed dragon, a +2 or even +3 evocation spell focus on the blue scale armor would fit in the item theme pretty good.

White Dragon Armour is useless for tanks, the red armours are far better. The shield bonus needs changing to something that stacks. Either a unique AC bonus, or % bonus. Also to consider is DR 15.

I think white armor is intended for THF characters who don't use a shield and can get some shield bonus without.

As a lot of people have already done...I'd like to comment on the Dragonscale Armor/Helms. Most all the other loot I've seen posted looks really nice, even if I don't have a use for it, somebody will.

#1 - I LOVE the fact that you've added a set bonus for the Dragonscale Armor/Helms. The bonuses are a little underwhelming, but they are there, it's a start at least. I know I've put in my suggestions for this stuff in the past, and plenty of others have as well.

#2 - I'm kinda disappointed that the Dragon Helms don't have Breath Weapon clickies anymore. It would be really cool, if for nothing else but a role play factor or nostalgia, to have a 3-5 charge breath weapon clickie(maybe a toned down version of the Dragon Breath ability from the Sorc ED) that refreshes a charge every minute or so.

Also assuming that the +3 exceptional stat on the helms is random, similar to a bunch of the newer loot. DDOwiki shows that they have +8 or +3 exceptional stat bonus, of a random stat between a predetermined set of three stats depending on the helm.(+8 or +3 Exception of --> Black/White: Str, Con, Dex; Blue: Int, Cha, Wis)

#3 - Dragonscale Armors...I can't say much that others haven't, but I'll add my 2cp. First thing I'd like to note is they have a higher ML(minimum level), but are either on par or not as good as the Cormyrian Green/Red armors, in my opinion.

Blue - Redundant caster based effects. Not necessarily a bad thing, different people with different builds slot different things in different places...this requires a bit of redundancy. On the other hand, it's going to be new and shiny, so everyone is going to want a reason to want it...and it's kinda bland, save the set bonus. It's also not a big step up from the non-Epic version, same goes for the rest of them. I believe it, and the white armor, should have a unique effect similar to the black armor.

    -- Suggestion:
----- Arcane Resurgence(spell point conservation proc): (small%)5% chance on casting a spell, regenerate (small%)3-8% SP over 30 seconds.(doesn't stack if recast, just resets timer)

White - Basically it's in the same situation as the blue, redundant tank based effects, not bad...but not the "Ooo! Shiney!" everyone is looking for. Not going to repeat.

    -- Suggestion:
----- Hardened Scales(defensive bonus guard): (small%)5% chance on being hit, gain (small# eNAC or % AC)+2 Exceptional NAC and (small#)+2 PRR for 30 seconds.[Stackable 5-10x?(would be +10-20 eNAC and +10-20 PRR, once max stack is reached, can't proc for another 60-120 seconds?)...if not then increase the bonus received and duration]

Black - Don't have much to say for this one. Like most have said before me, it's fairly decent. I'd personally like to see it geared toward ranged a bit more, but I like the underdog that is ranged combat. It would also be nice if this one had a similar damage proc like the red armor from VoN(Eternal Fire, except acid based).

    Just for a comparison:
    VoN Red Armor - (ML: 20) +8, 6 different effects, 2 slots
    Cormyrian Red/Green Armors - (ML: 23) +9, 6 different effects, no slots
    GH Black/Blue/White Armors - (ML: 25) +7, 4 different effects, 1 set bonus effect(requires second item), 1 slot

That comparison right there just doesn't add up...
If nothing else, give them another +1 and another effect, to be on par with the existing epic dragonscale armors.
