Default Legion For Two Weeks Program!

I'm pleased to announce the launch of our "Legion for Two Weeks" Program.

We are opening up our Probation Membership Program from invites only to the general public.

Now, anyone that is interested, can spend up to two weeks as a probationary member of the most infamous most Loved or Hated guild in the game. This is your chance to see what Legion is really like from the inside and get strategy and build tips from the best in the game.

All probation members can lead to a Full LEGION MEMBERSHIP at the end of the two weeks

We only have a few simple requirements.

    * Be able to access Ventrilo, We value effective efficient communication with the entire guild
    * Have more then 1 toon that you play on a fairly regular basis. (Atleast 1 for end game as we do both TR and End game)

During your Two Week Probation you have the oppurtunity too.

    * Interact with Legion members as one of their own (help others or suggest what you want to do)
    * You can choose to take the star and improve your leadership skills.
    * Preferential access to Legion run quests and raids (we kick the pugger for you).
    * Chance to roll on all Legion loot pulls.
    * Access to experts for build critique and strategy advice.
    * Freebies - let us know what gear you need and potentially get a handout or two.
    * If you're currently blacklisted, here's your chance to get back into good graces with Legion.
    * Provides an opportunity to show your skill and personality as a potential fit for full Legion membership.

    Fees:
    * Our introductory fee of 25 Major Mana Pots (35 if currently blacklisted). Has been Waved!

We prefer to only have one probation member at a time but we are willing to have some slight overlap time.
If we already have a probation membership going you can request to be put on a waiting list.

    Terms of Service:
    * We reserve the right to reject requests with no reasons required.
    * We reserve the right to terminate probation membership at anytime during the two weeks.
    * Must fully read and accept Legion Bylaws
    * Joining in on ribbing is one thing, but griefing is another. We have zero tolerance for griefing and your probation membership will be immediately revoked with no return of fees.
    * You are treated the same as other Legion members, although you can request the star or refuse the star. Please note that Legion members are not required to accommodate what you specifically want to do any more than they do for other Legion members. However, as with all Legion members, puggers will be asked to leave to make room for you.
    * Although you will have full access to Ventrilo, if you come in to just cause trouble, then Legion members have the option of squelching you or moving to a different channel. This is the same option they have with all members.
    * Any trouble reported by a Legion member will be acted on quickly. Most likely, an officer will just give you a heads-up or warning. If your behavior is severe enough though, your probation membership will be immediatly revoked (with reason(s) given) and with no return of fees.

To sign up, please send me a PM and include the names of your alts. or contact an Legion Officer

Any questions can be PM'd to me or posted here.

    LEGION BYLAWS

    1. We have determined that we will NOT limit the size of the guild to a specific number. Instead, we are going to become VERY strict in screening new recruits. We no longer care if the size of the guild is below a minimum threshold, instead we have decided to focus on ensuring that the skill level of our players is above a certain level. Although we may tweak this on a case-by-case basis, here's roughly how we will conduct our skill level evaluation.

At least two Legion officers must be in party conducting the trial.

We will conduct three tests to evaluate skill in three of the four general class categories:
    * Caster (Sorcerer or Wizard)
    * Healer (Cleric or FvS)
    * Melee (Barbarian, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger)
    * Support class (Bard, Rogue, Artificer)

For all trials, the recruit either solos it while we watch or tells us what to do. Either way, we are just stupid puggers along for the free ride and can't be relied on to know what to do.

The quest picked must be of resonable difficulty (in general, Amrath or higher).

Test 1) Recruit picks one of their favorite quests and leads us through on their choice of class category a-d.

Test 2) Officer picks a quest for the recruit to lead us through with our choice of class category (not run in the first test).

Test 3) Officer picks a quest for the recruit to lead us through with our choice of class category (not run in the first two tests).

Our expectation is that the recruit should wow us in the first test, since it's their choice quest and character. The next two tests allow us to assess their abilities on other characters. That way we don't end up with someone who is really good on a Cleric but completely useless on a caster or fighter type.

    2. We have made it a requirement that ALL of a player's characters are guilded in Legion. Although rare, we have allowed a few exceptions (e.g. holding a guild name). These should not be characters you run on a regular basis. This rule applies to all servers.

    3. New recruits will be given a TWO WEEK probationary period during which their skills, personality, builds, etc. will be evaluated. This probationary period may be extended due to extenuating circumstances by a majority officer vote. After the probationary period, a recruit will be given full Legion status only by majority officer vote.

    4. Members who leave the game for 6 months will be removed from Legion. On their return, they simply reapply for recruitment, which allows us to reevaluate their membership as a standard procedure. Returning members also have the option of taking time outside of Legion to prepare, prior to their 2-week probationary period.

    5. Legion will retain 1 Leader and 3 Officers (Malice holds Perma-Successor, but not as an officer unless voted in as one). Officer elections are held every 9 months. Probationary members may not nominate or vote. Current officers are automatically added to the ballot unless they state otherwise.

    6. If an officer (or Leader) is out of game for a month, they will step down. Discussions will be held and the remaining officers and leader will determine who will step in for the remainder of that election period based on; a) eagerness, b) in-game time, c) ideas and d) leadership skills. The person demoted (and replacement) will need to be elected at the next scheduled election to regain position as an officer and is not automatically added to the ballot like the other officers.

    7. All major guild desicions will be decided by a MAJORITY vote by the guild officers.
    Examples:
    * Probationary invite to guild.
    * Promoting a probbie to full status.
    * The desicion to remove a member from the guild, vent and forums.
    * Demoting an Officer. (This would take majority of the other active officers.)
    * Any scheduling or loot policies.

    8. Legion as a guild is probably one of the more outspoken/arguementative guilds in DDO, but even we believe their should be boundaries. Arguing your point is fine by all means if you feel you've been wronged or your right on a subject speak-up.
Yet at the same time we believe their is the right way and the wrong way to go about it. Most importantly we feel that this is a game, a place where we all come to relax and get away from the pressure's of real life. At no time do we feel it is appropriate for a member of LEGION to undergo a personal attack.
    For instance:
    * If you have a problem with a single individual and you want to hash it out, take him to a separate vent channel and do so.
    * If you believe the arguement is or will escalate, to an unreasonable level ask for an officer to intervene.
    * At NO time should an arguement be taken to a level where names are slung back and forth in anger. THIS IS A GAME!
    * At NO time is it ok to publicly trash another guildie in front of the rest of the guild. THIS IS A GAME!
    * Basically if you feel your actions or the other person's actions would cause fist's to be flown if the arguement was face to face. THE LINE IS CROSSED.
Whether you realize it or not at the time, there is a point an arguement can reach that their will be no forgivness.
It's real easy to be tough behind a microphone/keyboard knowing you'll never see the person in real life.
Here in LEGION we expect you to handle your arguements like grown ups, or you will be gone.
    * Abusing puggers in Vent is one thing. Unprovoked attacks, abuse, namecalling and insults in party chat is another and won't be tolerated. A nameless pugger to you might be a friend of someone else that we rely on to fill groups. There will always be the ****tard that causes trouble or talks smack that deserves a public beat-down. However, the generic pile-on, pugger doing the best they can and making an attempt to listen deserves the same respect you give another guildmate.[/list]

    Expectations of our members
    1. Hierarchy of needs;
1st - Camaraderie: do stuff together and the fun and individual needs will follow naturally.
2nd - Fun: focus on fun over the grind and the individual needs will matter less.
3rd - Individual needs: If you are hot after something, then say so. Camaraderie will take over from there. If you are hot after something that is a solo grind then do it when others in guild are not around so camaraderie doesn't suffer.

    2. We each chose to be part of this collective called Legion. As people come online figure out what we can do together. Don't assume that the chosen activity in progress when coming online cannot be modified or changed to include each other. Compromise and serve each other's needs in turn.

    3. If in game then get in Vent. yes, occasionally RL things pop up, but since the majority of guild communication takes place in Vent, it behooves us all to participate in Vent.

    4. Follow these simple steps when logging into game:
    a. Ask what's going on and when you can join.
    b. Participate (aka have an opinion) in the what's-next discussion.
    c. Take turns if more than one person is hot for something.

Note: one of the best ways to share the burden is to take the star and have the initiative to start things yourself when nothing is going on within the guild. We are all supposed to be leaders and self-starters here. Taking the star doesn't mean you have to run a raid you are not familiar with. The pain in the ass part is organizing and clearing. Anyone can do that part even if they hand over the star once entering the raid itself.

    5. Guild participation should be fun. There does have to be a balance between individual needs and group needs. One extreme and one feels all their gaming time is for what others need/want to do. The other and there is no interaction, camaraderie or esprit de corps. We recognize that this is a game and entertainment that you pay (or paid) for. However, if all you want to do are individual activities with little to no guild interaction then you don't need Legion. Your in-game goals simply don't mesh with Legion and we just need to amicably part ways.

Is there an incentive bonus for the server transfer? 'Cause that would be great. Or get a nickname during the tenure of the two week thing.. that would be fun times too.

Do you have any women in Legion? What's 'camaraderie' like in there in regards to gender issues?

IIRC We have one that plays a lot. We tend to be potty mouths, but are very considerate of guildies and are not as "bad" around those that do not support this.

There is no issue of "Camaraderie" either. We have had many ladies in Legion and have always helped each other. We joke around at times, but we do not hit on the ladies like some puggers do. If nothing else you could try it and see that Legion is not a bunch of A-holes that many like to say we are.

    Well yes we do.

There are no issues regarding gender and camaraderie.

No one in Legion is defined by the organs they may or maynot posses but rather on the merits of thier actions.
We do not give any special considerations wether or not you are male or female or have any preferances in that regards.

What we do value in no particular order

    Skill
    Leadership
    Knowledge
    Loyalty
    Generousity
    Camaraderie
    Respect

This program been working out for legion, we have added a few new faces to the guild.

Currently have open spots for a proby.

We try to keep it close to one proby at a time.
