Most of my D&D time was in AD&D. I had a TON of stuff, all in prestine condition. I hadn't played in a couple decades though so I sold it all as an eBay package a number of years back. Was shocked what people were willing to pay.

Now that I'm playing again I do regret selling it sometimes...

Oh, the memories, looking at that Fiend Folio, thinking how much those gems must be worth. Bet I coulda bought a +2 longsword with that loot!

Strange, now I have a hankering for Cheetos and Mountain Dew.

Players Handbook: Angled banner, and looks like an orange glow along the side of the copyright page makes this a... 6th printing? (can't read the actual print text at bottom of page.)

Lemme know when you get one that doesn't have the angled banner on the cover - or better yet, that says Advanced Dungeons & Dragons at the top of the cover and Players Handbook lower down, with the original wizard logo, and white flyleaves.

If you had any first prints in your collection, you probably undersold your stuff. Especially if you had the Deities & Demigods that included the Melnibonian mythos.
Oh, and PLEASE don't tell me you had an orange-covered B3 module.

Yeah, I had the first printing Deities & Demigods. I bought it still warm from the presses. I bought everything I could find D&D back then lol

B3... I don't recall which version I had so I'll just assume I didn't have the Orange one so I don't feel sad about the purchase price.

Yup, FF's have pretty much no value, from a collectables point of view.
Things like ferd's white box (or woodgrain box is also a good one), and the ones I mentioned that were recalled after circulation carry the good values.

Buying/selling game collectables was a lot of fun - before Ebay ruined it all.

    Default hard use

Yup, we bought the books and sets, we played for marathons, and we beat with our dice bag the guy that shoved the table and knocked over the (usually brightly colored and sticky) drinks therein, which soaked the books we bought ...

One of my old books for AD&D spent the last years of my tabletop gaming life happily inside a 3-ring binder due to bindings exploding..

I buy things to use, not to hide

'74 releases were woodgrain (printings 1-3), whites (printings 4-6) were released in '75+.

The second printing was done in orange, because the local printer only had that color in stock. (too funny)
And that version was mainly done for Italy where D&D had sold more copies than anywhere else.

*what's really awesome is I actually remember this stuff (surprised I made it through the late 60's & early 70's )*

No offense, but it did get released in 73. Dubbed the "white box set" it was actually parchment color. I know, I have it.

*edit; but as CD said, it was a long time ago. And it's all very cool stuff*

As a DM, I stated that gythianki have strange passion for junk jewelery -- that these "gems" are all glass or at best semi-precious stones. Part of my description of a (sort-of friendly) gythianki: "Tinkling noise accompanies his every motion. Rows of brass ornaments with glass and cheap stones run down his sleeves and pant legs. He must be wearing about 1500 gold pieces in junk jewelery."

My DM's Guide binding split on the attack matrix page (makes it easier to find at least), but otherwise all of my 1st edition books are in pretty good shape. Deities and Demi-gods became Legends and Lore by the time I could afford it unfortunately (shoveling snow was my teenage income).

    Ditto.

    AD&D was/is the best, IMO.

In effort to suppliment my collection, I hit up eBAY myself. Got a TON of the classic modules!

    Tomb Of Horrors
    Queen of the Demonweb Pits
    Expedition to the Barrier Peaks
    White Plume Mountain
    Lost Caverns of Tsjocanth
    Slavers Series

Now I just need to find a local AD&D group and I'm all set....

    Nerd Alert!

I still buy and paint miniatures.

Few weeks ago I told my daughter that I expect some day to be rolling dice on 1st edition tables in a retirement home with my cohorts (I was born in 1966). She thought it was both hilarious and entirely plausible.
