# Thread: Question about intelligence and Skill points

1. ## Question about intelligence and Skill points

OK, the amount of skill points you receive is determined by your intelligence.
Is it always off the base or do bonuses factor into it?
If so which ones?

Lets say you have a base Int of 16.
Tome +1
A ring (or some other item) +3
Drink a potion +4

Total Int now = 24

Which counts towards your skill point total when you level up?
16?
17?
20?
or 24? or maybe 23 if the potion counts but the ring doesn't?

2. Only base stats + tomes count so for skill point it would be 17int, but of course odd numbers don't give you another skill point, so until you have 18 you wouldn't get another skill point from either a +2 tome or level up into int.

17(+3). Just the base plus level up points put into base plus tomes count, and a +1 leaves you at an odd int so adds nothing for you.

If you used a +2 tome instead of a +1 then you would get credit for 18(+4)

4. And the ring and pot wont stack anyway.

5. OK I just thought of one other way.
What if you used action points to raise your Int?
Would that count toward your skill point bonus?

You could remove the action points later...

Nope, action points won't count either. Just base stat plus tomes, plus any points you use to raise the stat from leveling every 4th level.

7. That's not to say the stat enhancements and a +stat item are bad. Just that they wont affect skill points.
