Default EE citw last night, need to vent (things keep anon)

Man was that a rough go. I popped in as the group was starting opt 1. Took another 3 or 4 hours. stressful.

Finally get end fight done on 4th try. Get to the chests and a b-sword drops in my name.

Not planning to use a b-sword on my monk so i put it up for roll. b-sword using fighter/rogue in party drops his roll instantly, could tell he was hawking the sword. He had a crappy roll but seemed like the only one who wanted sword.

Little late to roll a second person rolls on the sword. Now, after calling for the rolls I realize that this is THE item for this rogue toon and I wanted to make sure secondary person was going to fully utilize the item before I passed it to them. So I asked the second person if they where planning to actively use the sword or if it was just bank space flavor for them. People usually find their citw item long long long before the comm's to upgrade and use it, alot of times ive seen people put weapons for roll with nobody interested in them... So what happened was extremely odd to me. The second person (who won the roll) immediately griped that I was now wanting to pass the item to my friend (i dont know the b-sword rogue very well so that wasnt the case) after first offering up the item for roll. Which is not what I did, and not what I asked. But it was posed to me in such a way that they made it obvious I was doing some underhanded loot passing in their eyes.....BS, and ef you.

I was trying to make sure i didn't screw a true b-sword user out of his dream weapon because someone else thought it looked kinda pretty and might use it some day. If the second person would have replied with anything hinting towards something like "Oh yes, absolutely. Would really love that item" or any flavor or color along those lines it would have been passed immediately....instead he immediately accused me of some underhanded loot practices (plus he never answered the question i posed to him) so the item went to the b-sword fighter/rogue.

I put it up for roll instead of vendoring to help folks out that slogged through that hellish raid with me..not to tease people then just pass the item to my personal friend. Don't accuse me of that unless your sure of the situation. All they did was make me really mad, believe me they didn't teach me any life lessons about raid loot distribution.

I feel like people just roll on CITW loot because it is cool more than actual necessity. I see so many people roll on items when its obvious there is actually someone in the party that needs that item.

If it drops for them, I don't care. Your loot is your loot. But if someone puts it up for roll and you want it so you can put on your dress and where it on the boat... Well lets just say I agree with you.

Even suggesting "underhanded" in the world of "your loot is your loot" reflects some pretty crazy entitlement. Even if you did put up for roll then changed your mind before passing it you'd still be right in my opinion.

(With the caveat that there was no pre-agreed arrangement wrt rolling which I don't expect there was.)

I tend to agree with you here. I've decided I need to preface all my loot roles with "priority given to people that can convince me they will actually use the item this life" I'm not apposed to people rolling for stuff for next life but not when there is someone there who will pick it up and start using it immediately.

    Agree & total +1.

    Ok.
So i choose to let the Ranged Ranger and Monkcher only roll for my Quiver.

Addressing the raid itself rather than the minor loot drama...that was my first ever run of EE CitW...and it may well be my last. That was painful for no good reason....with things like Lolth essentially saying "you're dead" to a few players a lot, and the 4 hours of mental weardown.

I've seen a similar situation in the same raid. Two people rolled on the staff, one was an arcane, the other was a melee. Guess which one won the roll? When the melee was asked if he was going to use it next life, he didn't respond. When the staff got passed to the arcane, rage ensued.

I sent tells to the melee afterward and eventually got him to see that if he is rolling on BtC gear he needs to be willing to justify why he is rolling if that gear is not meant for his class. He did say he was planning to TR into a caster and that he should have spoken up.

You did the right thing OP.

20/20 of course after the fact, but if you know the loot shoudl go to a certain class/player, I say just pass it to said player.

No point putting it up for roll (with intentions of a roll giving equal chance to all that partake in said roll) if you are simply going to pass it.

Result was good, but the process was bad. my 2cp

That's what I prefer to do. I don't like calling for rolls, but will when knowing more than one person can use it...and only for the folks that can use it.

That was a painful run. Was my first as well. To be honest nobody every gave a full pot count that I could recall. I think besides how long it took and how many things didn't go as planned, I think it went ok on the resource usage for having so many first timers. I sure was getting tired at the end though.

As for the bastard sword. I'm glad it went to the guy who could use it. The other guy who rolled if I recall, was talking about how he wanted to just collect the stuff which means he prolly wouldn't be using it anytime soon or ever. I might be wrong on that but either way need before greed is the way it should be.

I know someone who collects absolutely everything. He literally has 100+ named items he will never, ever use, simply because he wants to collect everything in the game.

He has amazing luck at drops, and amazing luck winning rolls, so loot just flows his way.

The TLDR here is, I suspect each time he TRs he has to trash a heap of these items because he doesnt have space - so would say you did the right thing. Much better for an item to go to someone who will use it, over someone who will collect it, and may even end up trashing it if they run out of bag space.

I agree,if you put it up for roll then give it to person who won the roll.

I would not honor any roll from someone with a reputation like that.

I was in the raid and i saw a part of what happened.
But before i left i saw the other guy (not the bastard user) said something like "At least i want to get something out of this 4 hour raid :P" .

Recter you did absolutely the right thing . The bastard user could use it and it was crucial for his build and the other guy just wanted to keep it in his bank rot.

It can be done much more smoothly but I do think it should give way more commendations on EE, if the items are what you want then EH is the way to go anyway.

Agreed..since i witnesed wat happened .. i can say that the process was wrong ..since u put it up for rool meant u gave each 1 same chance to roll for it ..no matter class ...being a rogue or watever dont matter ... cause it may be used later on on trs or watever ...but since it is indeed your loot u could say politely .. "sorry man i changed my mind will pass it to the ftr " there was no need to call names and lash out to the person that rolled for it imo .

actually there was PLENTIFUL reasons to lash out. your guildy out of the blue accused me of being underhanded for asking him if he was going to use the bastard sword. He did not answer my very polite question he went on the attack immediately. remove your head from sand before you fight for your guildie
