Default A couple of "Show stopper" bugs

Longtime player (founder) who recently got a macbook pro and decided to try playing on the go. I actually got DDO running under Wine on my 10.7 (Lion) macbook the other day and it's running pretty stable. The support for the mac keyboard layout isn't great under wine, and I expected performance to be superior in a native client, so I gave it a shot. It's nice to see it running and so far things seem good.

There are two complete show stoppers for me, however.

First, the keymap reset is a huge problem. Actually, because of this issue, I'll be playing under Wine until it's fixed. I'd venture to guess that the vast majority of players use custom key mappings, so I'm hoping the devs will treat this one as a high priority. I'm a PC guy who plays with a keyboard and mouse at home, and I make use of an extensive set of custom mappings to play on the laptop with just the keyboard (no mouse - 12 hotbars, most of which have unique key bindings for individual slots).

Second, the "chat" bug - I use quotes because, as has been reported, it's not just the chat windows but anyplace where text is entered. A client reset seems to fix that for me just as easily as the rest who complain of it. It's a little less of a show stopper, but as this is a social game communication is paramount and a client reset in the middle of an adventure or conversation is sub-optimal.

Otherwise, I'm really glad that we have this option and hope the devs are able to sharpen it up for final release in a timely manner. Keep up the good work guys!

I agree. These are the two biggest issues for me. The chat bug seems to have gone away after deselecting the OS X keyboard preference 'Use all F1,F2,etc. keys as standard function keys', but that is not my preferred setup, and forces me to use 'Fn-F1' to get the function keys to work in DDO.

I was able to "fix" the text issue by typing command-h and then bringing the app back to the foreground. It's not ideal to have to do it, but it's quick.

I don't remap my keys but it sounds like a serious problem for those that do.

I actually haven't had the chat bug since my first logon, though I do get the "error" message when logging off fairly consistently. Every time, I think.
