    Default Parents of....

I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who happens to be a (new) parent who sometimes finds themselves having to drop everything and provide back-up for their spouse mid raid? I get it. I also understand that things like that don't really fly very well with a lot of PUG's or other guilds.

Having led a guild for 2 years and having some experience with other game guilds previously I was thinking of starting a new guild called, "Parents of ___" ... pick a server, a different name.... whatever, wherever.

I'm looking to build a guild specifically for those who might need to drop everything mid raid so they can run and fix formula, grab a diaper, etc.. whenever things on the home front get too much for the spouse (better half) to handle on their own (even if it is your night to grind. It happens right?) Wouldn't it be nice to know you're in company that get's it? That doesn't mind waiting 10 minutes? That understand that this is just a game and that we can accommodate the more important things in life?

If you like the idea please comment below. If this thread dies, no big whoop.

You may want to look around at the guilds already on your server. On argo I am in "Married with Children" our play style fits your description pretty well.

Me and my wife run a guild on argo as well. Order of the Lynx, we have kids and take turns dealing with the kids. most people are fairly understanding. One guards and the other goes afk. if you find yourself playing on argo, you are more then welcome to join us. Hope you find the right environment for you. good gaming and good luck

PS, I have run with members of "Married with Children" before, good people, maybe argo is the place for you. see you around

    RL should always come first.

    Especially kids.

Although I have mixed feelings about wife agro.....

Just remember wife agro kills more gamers than the baddest raid boss.

Heroes of Light and Darkness on Argo is also very chill about this sort of thing and recognizes that RL comes first. Not as high guild level as Married With Children but I've run with some of them and they're good people too

I have two small children and know your pain. I will say that if there is a reasonable chance you'll be called away, maybe joining as the solo healer in a raid is not a good idea , but yeah--always, kids and family first.

Kids always come first, hopefully you find a niche of people that understand that.

That's a brilliant idea. I'm ready to pop (due in 3 days) with our first baby, and would love to join a guild that'll accomodate baby's schedule. Hubby and I play on the Cannith server, any chance there is/could be something there?

Curelite on Thelanis might be a good fit as well.

We're PG chat friendly, run regular guild events (PST evening timezone), and we have a few parents, myself being one of them. We're no-drama, laid back, friendly, and helpful.

If you think we might be a good fit based on the above, contact us!

(See our recruitment thread under Thelanis guilds or send me a PM.)

The Old Timers Guild on Ghalanda understands that situation and has many players in the same boat. We're laid back, so we understand priorities, even during raids.

There is a wonderful guild on Cannith that has a lot of parents, married folks, people with jobs and other RL concerns. The philosophy is that RL comes first. No one ever criticizes anyone for having to drop suddenly due to RL events, whether it is a baby needing attention, wanting to spend time with a spouse, or just needing to let the dogs in/out. It's a really friendly, really helpful guild that has been growing a lot lately. The guild is also family-friendly, meaning people are careful about their language in party/guild chat, since some of us have children that participate in the guild or that watch us play and read/listen to guild chat.

It's a great family to be a part of - I wouldn't still be playing DDO if it weren't for this guild. We accomodate lots of different playstyles from casual to hardcore, and a lot of different skill levels from newbs to vets. There are regular shroud runs as well as other raids and epic questing, and there are also several static groups in the guild. The guild is large and very international, so there are always players online. The defining trait of the guild is the maturity and friendliness of the players. They are quick to offer help, going out of their way to make sure that everyone has a good experience.

In DDO, the guild resides on Cannith and is called The Silver Legion. It is the DDO branch of a multi-game guild called Guild Medieval (GM). I've made so many good friends in this guild and haven't met anyone in it that I don't get along with. If this sounds like the kind of guild you are interested in, you can apply at www.guildmedieval.com. It's quick and simple (just tell us why you want to join) and you'll be glad you did.
