Default Be aware of what trolling can do to people.

I'll try to keep this compact and objective. First of all, behavior of a bullied person lies in their own hands and agression is still their own doing and not that of a troll/bully. Also, usually the best course of handling a troll is ignoring them and/or showing a clear edge of how far they can go.

That being said I do hope people will be reading this to understand potential impact. Though the majority of people can deal with insults and other trolling I think most people don't like having to deal with it. Besides that majority there are also people who have a hard time processing these kind of things for several reasons. If you troll those players there is a chance you potentially help them towards a depression, self hurting or worse.

I'm not going to ask people to stop being themselves, that's an unreal expectation, but at please try to keep this in the back of your head and if you notice that someone really can't deal with your trolling just leave em alone..

That's the end of the official message I wanted to give.

    From personal experience

I'm from the Netherlands and a while back there was a newspaper message of a 14y old that ended his life after his "friends" hacked his game account, there was already more going on with him for that to trigger, but I get pretty sad when I read things like that, a young kid like that. It wasn't the first time I read about such things either. When I am in-game or even on the forum the huge amount of negativity can really pester my mood, you are just pressuring eachother into becoming perfect (or appearing so) rather then enjoying being yourselves. Kudo's to those that manage to stand above this, I have a few on my friendlist and proud to know them.

@owei, it is important that kids get prepared for life in those aspects so you understand that very well. But, it's hardly an excuse or a reason to troll people, if someone with a big ego walks in on you there are other ways to deal with it (in-game waiting for them to turn into a soul stone usually works just fine)

+1 to the OP for this thread.

@oweieie: Really?? you honestly think that bullying and/or trolling helps people?? I was bullied in elementary school, and that led me to be a violent kid who didn't give a **** if he killed someone until I hit high school. And that was just me getting lucky to have met some of the kindest people I ever have met in high school. I have never been "helped out" by being bullied, I was only helped when people were willing to be kind to me, despite anger issues. To top it off, I now have a hard time dealing with bullies due to it bringing up all the stuff that has happened before. So please, tell me how you know that trolling or bullying someone can help them out in any way?

In a post where the OP expresses that gamers do have a shred of decency, civility and social skills, is anyone surprised that someone would come along and show the world a fine example of the stereotypical socially inept trolls that we all get pegged as.

Just to give fair warning, I do get very vocal about bullying, and so I might do certain things I normally wouldn't.

Making inane excuses to hide behind for being an ass is just the lowest form of cowardice. You're not helping anyone, especially not yourself. Any goofball can spout one liners like "harden the f*** up" but from my experience the real folks with courage and integrity don't open their piehole needlessly and if they do usually for positive reasons.

Certain life lessons are best taught by people that actually care about the well being of the person needing the lesson. And not by anonymous entities sitting at a desk behind a monitor who have life lessons they themselves need to learn.

The problem I find is most Trolls have decided the rest of the world is like them and thus form that frame of mind, it allows them to de-humanize the person. However, like most bullies, they don't like being ignored.

I would agree, the best way to rid yourself of a troll is to ignore them.

    Nice words, Aidan.
The troll deleted its post. Unfortunate for I can't set it on fire, but better overall.

One thing that really grinds my gears is when I go to the store and here a cashier say "Happy Holidays". Why is it that they no longer say "Merry Christmas"?

People get offended over the dumbest things. I fully understand that Turbine must take a politically correct stance on this as well, but these people that get offended over everything need to get help as they are the ones that are insecure.

I have a very good life, with many good things and I feel very good about myself. When I say something, I say what is right, not what is socially acceptable.

    Merry Christmans!

Correct, that is where many mistake my replies. Often it is said I have a thin skin, or why are you mad? When it is neither. I am not thin skinned or mad, I simply say what I believe, and that will never change. Whether or not it rings true or peeves someone else, well most of the time I just do not care. Taking offense to anothers opinion is fairly common, it is also healthy, flipping out of course is not, but disagreement is not insecurity, this world would be awful boring if we all thought exactly the same way.

    Again, Merry Christmas.
