I almost only play with people I know while on voice chat so for me thats luckily not an issue. I get the point though.

    1. Some people want to have a shot at +4/+5 tomes / +3 DC caster sticks without buying loot gems.
    2. Some people want a shot at the best prefixes/suffixes with their loot gems (level 29+) outside of loot events.

People who like to plan a loot infrastructure might roll a Ftr with that feat line. With that bonus you'll find more useful stuff now and additional items to put on the ah.

It is more matter of timing for bringing that blesser than having useless feats in general. TRs and twinked toons don't 'need' that bonus. Everybody else thinks it is a nice asset and profit.

If it actually got to where I cared enough to have a chest blesser, I'd stop inviting those who don't care. Though outside of desperation or boredom, I refuse to PUG. Really though for those situations where you would want a chest blesser chances are very good you will not want to PUG as the quest will be too rough with people who either cannot follow or understand directions.

Your success/fail rate at blessing the chest is based on your charisma. A charisma dumped fighter will likely fail quite often on high level chests.

There are ranges inbetween maxed CHA and lowest CHA score.

28 pt. are easily 16 STR and 16 CON at start. Leaves 8 pt.s to fool around in other stats. More than enough.

Because chest blessing lets you get +5 tome upgrades and +4 unbound tomes in quests that can be repeated quickly, not just EE Demonweb and EH new chain.

Go and run VON3 EH or EH House of Death Undone with optionals, and compare the number of chests per minute you get to running EE Trial By Fury. Also compare 3-6 star Defenseless to EE Trial By Fury.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Is it because you can run without using the Jewel? Is it so you can run lower level quests and still reach 27 with blesser + jewel? Or is there some other great loot that only drop in even higher level chests?

Please cure (that part of) my ignorance.

If you can farm a quest on EH instead of EE, it's not a bad idea for a static group to have a character you never play much be respec'd as a chest blesser by visiting fred 3 times or using the free lesser reincarnation (human or half orc only ). With a full group of 6 the quest is still going to be easier on EH with one "gimp" than it would be on EE with the same exact character having 3 extra feats. How much extra dps and survivability do those 3 feats really add in a group of 6? It won't work for my necro-enchanter, but I can probably respec the character I play least for this purpose (if it happens to be human or half orc). Even for groups that run EE content exclusively I doubt those 3 feats are going to be the difference between failure and success.

People may not appreciate it as much in PUGS - and probably won't even wait for the chest blessing. For static groups, why not use a chest blesser? Just have the character continue to work on twists and blessing chests and eventually you can TR the toon into something else. If you run the new U16 content on hard with a chest blesser you get a chance for +4 or 4 to 5 upgrades without a jewel. With a jewel and chest blesser you can run house of rusted blades on hard and have a chance for a +4 or 4 to 5 upgrade tome.

With static groups it is all about teamwork. I don't have a problem having a human fighter with high charsisma and 3 less feats as long as everyone in the group understands the purpose and we can still complete the quest. You can still build a very good fighter as they get so many feats and you don't lose much by raising charisma. The group just has to ask, what is better - the +2 stacking loot bonus or a little more dps when the group likely already has no problem succeeding.

To me human bard is probably the best choice since the character can be an effective support character and bless the chest. Charisma comes naturally. You could also limit the chest blesser to quests where it matters.

The only time I've seen someone with the feat (except when it was new) as a horc fighter that took the line for efang. His chest buffing usually failed but it was a side benefit not the main benefit of his taking the dragonmarks.

Wlie running a +2 loot gem and chest blessing there are over 20 quests that can drop +4 tomes at a rate of 1/333 About 25% of those can be +4 to +5 tome upgrades.

On a loot bonus weekend the number of quests more than doubles.

    Then there's explorer areas....

I don't factor in the treasure map bonuses which would make it even more... folks just don't like to farm those up even though it's crazy easy.

Toss in an Epic Chim Fang which will give you:

+8 Bastard Sword (Base dmg: 2d10) and glancing blows glancing blows when wielded alone or with a shield
    Silver, Alchemical
    Keen [17-20]
    Shocking Burst
    Destruction
    Shatter +10
Chimera's Ferocity [ Bastard sword proficiency, weapon becomes +8, incite +15 and superior parry]
    Empty Red Augment Slot
    Disintegration

This thread has me mulling over turning a TR project into a Human FvS splashed Fighter for 2 feats and maybe even a monk level for another feat. In my experience Max+Empower work fine for healing (not taking Emp Healing and Extend (because few Buffs prepped) freeing 2 feats up).

I have a Capped Elf FvS Healer+Evoker That used the free respecc to take the three AA feats (Mental Tough, Weap focus ranged and Point blank, as well as Precise shot which gets you Archers Focus) and the full AA enhancement line and I don't miss those feats much... Although AA still feels gimpy (couldn't fit Manyshot without using LR+ to splash) and is mostly useful for having a DPS option when out of Mana (In other words not very). Truth be told the Capstone Searing Light + Searing Light + Nimbus Of Light are a much better "PEW PEW PEW" option but the AA stuff fits so perfectly with the Bow FvS lines... too bad.

The Human FvS with splash would have a reason for moderate/decent CHA, and doesn't need DC's for the most part, because he's either got 1 9th level spell slot or none, so probably no implosion DC to care about, leaving Greater Command as the only DC spell to care anything about, and anyway I can't say I'd miss "8 seconds of trash removal followed by a half hour cooldown" anyway. Maybe Melee with Chimera's Fang.

The worst loss here would be some SP effeciency while healing without Empower Healing feat, and the Capstone searing light making pew pew a viable DPS option. Meanwhile you could melee focus or S&B with the BS. and trade out Improved Crit and Bastard Sword Prof when you get Epic Chimaras fang. Probably make a damn fine tank...

Have fun calling this a gimped character, while it hjeals you, drops Max/Emp BB's and Wings mobs through them, with good AC, and then "boosts yer lootz" by winging over to the chest before anyone else gets to it.

You guys filibustering a new mode have already succeeded in scaring the Dev's into not doing it the right way and re-scaling the existing settings, why in the world are you still filibustering? Drunk on your success? Schadenfreude? Spitefulness?

The toon will be gimped for anything other than chest buffing.

    Period.

You might not like it, and you can keep fooling yourself to the contrary, but that doesn't change it from being a fact

Strongly feel that after the enhancement update, dragonmarks will no longer cost you 3 feats.

Hoping for one feat, which would make it a much more reasonable cost.

This would make uber chest blessers, self sufficent halflings melees, half elf stormy casters, ddoor touting healers,
and a wide variety of other cools builds....

I'm very curious, how much Charisma is enough??

    {Thinking of building Fawngate into one, but she has a Cha of 9 +3 Cha tome +2 completionist = 14 total}
Is that nearly enough to consider it?

I'm thinking the first mark of finding dragonmark is gonna be upgraded as well during the enhancement update. In fact, the enhancement update with these dragonmarks may have triggered the changed to barrel breaking.

Your opinion does not make fact.

In case you had not yet noticed, in this game, doing one thing does not 'gimp' a person or character from excelling in different areas.

If you need tips on how to build characters that are not 'gimp' but taking these feats, there are sub forums where such help is available - as well as this very thread.

When you made YOUR chest buffer, what did you do to him to make him so gimp? Let us know so we all can correct your mistakes.
