Why does it seem that there is usually some sort of "bonus" while there is an event going on? In this case, during the 2nd run of Mabar, which, considering the issues with the first run, there may be many people grinding out motes to finish items?
    It makes no sense.

What makes no sense is that people complain about free stuff.

Why the need to drive everyone to one set of levels? If you want to give out an xp bonus, just give it out and let people play what they want to play.
And this is another reasons the Devs are insane.

You have people complaining when a bonus is not narrow enough (it is given when another event is happening) and another person complaining the bonus is too narrow (there needs to be more than one happening at the same time).

Each of these bonuses dilutes my player pool since I don't like Mabar nor doing Epic XP, but even I recognize that it is just a bonus that may not apply to my play style.

... you just can't have nice things.

In the defense of the two you quoted, they both raise valid, and quite separate, points. Why run two different and totally unrelated special events at the same time, forcing players to choose which one to participate in? Do I want to run mabar, or do I want to get some of those destinies out of the way with the xp boost? This could be easily fixed by simply staggering the events/bonuses so they don't overlap. The second point is that the xp bonus, unlike all of the other bonus day events, is split into two separate categories, with no apparent reason for it. Ultimately, someone (in this case myself and at least a few others) will see the current bonus and that it COULD apply to the characters we want to play at the moment, but it doesn't. For no apparent reason. Thus, the complaints. Just because the dev's give us something special once in a while, and we voice our opinions about how those special events could be made better, does not mean that we do not appreciate the events in the first place.

I view it more as supplying something for everyone...except Heroic people that don't like Mabar in this case, but they got bonus XP recently already.

Heroic people that like Mabar: play Mabar.
Heroic people that hate Mabar: play as usual, sorry no bonus for you right now.
Epic people that like Mabar: play Mabar.
Epic people that hate Mabar: get XP.
Epic people that like Mabar and want XP: Sorry, pick one, or split your time. However, I'd say clearly it is in your best interest to take advantage of the seasonal event while it's here (if you need stuff from it).

Sure, there are solutions for the current situation, but why not run mabar this week, and then a universal +25% xp boost next week? Then, the people that like mabar can play mabar this week, and the rest play as normal, and next week everyone can benefit from the additional xp. Does the current set-up work? yes, but it could be improved upon, so why not make it better?

Not bad, at least you do crappy epic xp bonus on holiday weekend so I don't have to worry about trying to play. Now if it was heroic xp on thanksgiving weekend oof that would be tough.

While I appreciate the bonus days, is there any reason why you guys keep splitting the epic and heroic xp bonuses, so we can only get one or the other? Personally, this particular bonus at this particular time is more disheartening than anything because the character I have that could actually make use of it TR'ed a few days ago and won't be in epic range again for a few weeks at least. It would be like splitting the challenge ingredient bonuses so that one time you get bonuses on cannith challenges, and the next you gain bonuses on eveningstar. I mean, if there is an actual reason for this somewhere, like coding limitations of something, that is one thing, but as far as I can tell, the heroic/epic xp split seems purely arbitrary and is quite frustrating.

I don't think anyone has an issue with the *free stuff*, it's just an issue with it's timing. You essentially have two seperate specifically unlinked timed "events" in play simultaneously.

    1. Mabar [which should only be once a year]
    2. +25% Epic XP [not as often as we'd like and it seems not as often as Heroic XP since they've been seperate]

For most of us it is a choice. If you're dead set on your Mabar Gear you'll have a chance to complete it now. If you don't care for Mabar and prefer to grind out another Epic Destiny then this bonus is for you.

Thank you Turbine for giving something for everyone*.

*Discalimer - "Everyone" may not include the following: People who have to go away from the game during the holiday; people who can't make decisions or choices like the two presented [you know the type wo probably still follow "paths" at ChaGen]; people who really want to grind out their Epic destiny as quickly as possible but also want Epic Cloaks on their characters and/or Epic Robes on their PM's; People who will be really delighted at the +25 Epic XP but will experience soul crushing lag every time the Spectral Dragon appears even if they're in a quest in Forgotten Realms; peope who complain about free stuff becuse they like complaining; people who moan about two #208 buses arriving at the same time when one of them should have arrived 15 minutes earlier and ignore the fact that they could just be thankful that a bus has arrived.

You guys are missing the point of these bonuses.

TR-junkies are always TR'ing, regardless of bonus or no-bonus. They hide in lowbie land forever. There's no reason for Turbine to give these people a bonus because they're rescuing Arlos regardless.

End game grinders are after the shiniest shinies. They don't need an epic XP bonus to chase the carrot because the carrot is always the central goal. TR'ing is just painful detour (at best) and every second away from running high level content is torture.

You give bonuses of one type to get people playing more of the content they tend to avoid unless given a good reason...encourage them to get out of their comfort zones (read:traps). Sure, it probably doesn't work for everyone but if you get 10% to swap to the other side for a while, that's 10% of your player base that is going to delay exhausting their fun here for another week.

Again the problem with this line of logic is that it would be a pretty ineffectual manner of changing people's habits.

I think many will tremendously like both things going on at the same time. If you don't like Mabar (or anther event) and you're not a friend of doing all solo playing, you're in a bad spot. Give a bonus to split up the playerbase more and you have a smaller bored group. Don't complain about having to choose between two good things. If you want Mabar stuff, play it. XP bonus just shortens the time but doesn't give you anything you can't get at other times.

BTW having it epic only with all its downsides has a huge benefit: players with mainly lvl 20+ character have less fun in Mabar then those with lower level characters. Server issues aside, many clients and humans will crumble to the onslaught of shiny spells and special moves. Something like graphical overload does exist.
