    Default Melee Focused Virtuoso

    Reworked my bard, once again. Think I'm getting closer and closer to happy with it. Would appreciate people who actually have a clue giving me some input though, as I'm a perpetual noob.

    Goals should be pretty apparent (I hope) but just in case (and in no particular order):

    * Melee DPS. Doesn't have to be amazing, but at least able to solo content when I can't find a group, and contribute more than simply songs when I can.
    * Traps, locks. 23 ranks in related skills is the best I can do here. Gear will obviously factor in, but from what I understand, I should be able to hit everything except the crazy stuff (DC90 door in VON1, etc.)
    * UMD. I'm a bard, 23 ranks, decent CHA, I don't see a problem.
    * Group support. Once again, I'm a bard, I don't see a problem. Songs, buffs, fascinate or SS stuff...
    * Fun. None of the above matters if I can't stand playing it. I'm enjoying the bard so far (BRD5/ROG1) so I think this is covered.

    At Bard 10, I'll feat swap Skill Focus: Perform for Maximize.

    Late or end game, if I feel its needed to continue being productive to my groups, I'll swap Virtuoso for Spell Singer.


    Do I have "enough" balance, bluff, concentration? Any terrible gaping holes in things I "should" have but don't? Any thing I "shouldn't" have but do?

    I have a Carnifex axe to level him up with till... greensteel maybe? SoS? I dunno. From what I understand, the Carni is pretty silly overpowered for a ML4.


    Any other input that I don't even know to ask for, but you have, would also be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to look.

    I would suggest getting the Epic Antique Greataxe and taking the Legendary Dreadnought destiny. With the capstone (+1[W] on attacks) and the Improved Power attack (+.5[W]) you can get a great DPS boost, since the eAG has a ridiculous [W] value (1d20). And since it's an axe, you can get +2 to its crit multiplier with LD, and another +1 with Overwhelming Critical, for a 19-20x6 weapon all the time.

    This is the build I have, it's very similar to yours, and it's very fun. Good DPS and good crowd control (ignores SR, too, very important in the Forgotten Reals content).

    LD also gives haste boost, which you can activate at the same time as the Human damage boost for even more DPS. And, in the right situations, Master's Blitz is just fun as hell.

    At a quick glance, I'd recommend maxing concentration for scroll usage. I like bluff on my rogue splash bard, but it's not essential. And you don't need a whole lot of Open Locks to get by.

    You don't really need extend that early on. I usually take it when I get haste. Cleave is awesome early on when you can just 1-hit-kill groups of mobs with it.

    And you're completely OK if you just dump CHA altogether. Use gear and tomes to get the 16 you need.

    So, I've been playing for a few weeks now as a Spell Singer.

    While I see the value in it, I'm not having nearly as much fun as I did with Virtuoso. So, I'm swapping back.

    What do you all think of these enhancements for the build one post up?

    What's your reflex safe going to be? Can you manage to get more than 30?

    Right now, level 20:

    13 base
    +3 dex mod
    + 4 enchanted bonus
    -----
    20



    I'm wearing +6 dex item. Thats with no buffs at all though.

    Ship is +1 from dex, G. Hero is +4, Haste is +1.

    So 27 at lvl 20. Should be able to hit 30.

    To the OP, I dont think you listed a Resistance item in your Reflex breakdown. You should be able to get a +6 Resistance cloak for not a lot of plat on the AH.
