However, in the chamber, my lvl25 water savant can easily deal with the gargoyles alone.. they make such a pretty sound when they freeze and shatter en masse. I'm just doing the mote-gathering with other tunes and going for the dragon with the sorc, who already has a big stash of keys from last year.
OK, so never mind the fact that I find undead to be utterly boring. It's Halloween so I can play along.
Never mind the fact that farming with entirely arbitrary time windows and restrictions feels to me like devs demanding I thank them for wasting my time and picking my pocket.
What I can't deal with is the fact that DDO would design an event that they don't have the resources to make work, and then year after year run it again. It just took one total freeze-frame lag-fail on my first dragon attempt this year and all the bad memories came flooding back.
No thank you Turbine. While standing around the graveyard killing some worn-out tropes in order to grind out mats is almost entertaining, wasting my time with this broken event is definitely not something I want to do again this year.
Next year either fix it, scrap it, or replace it with something that the hamsters can handle. PETA is watching you.

Lag got you down? Do what I do and bring along a good book to read while playing DDO.
Do we have a confirmed end date? It would be very very useful for me to know whether I'm going to have enough time to bother farming mats. The delay has pushed the bulk of the festival into the time I'm away on business :/
Crime in multi-storey car parks: it's wrong on so many levels.
The last couple of times Mabar came around, I could not participate. Not from lag, but IRL things. I jumped on last night and had no problems. I thought it was very cool how you have a raid+ instance. I think ti would be cool if more things like that existed. It is like playing on Lam.
This is not working out well, over half the monsters I've killed in the 20-25 instance have been too low to give rewards. If you're going to make level ranges, make monsters in those level ranges...

Is this thing specifically targeted towards casters? I join a group as a melee, swing like crazy, hit a lot, then watch the casters of the groups pick up 4-5 times as many drops as me.
No more complaining for the day....
Mabar back = Happy
Mabar = Fun, thanks.
Please Fix/Recommended Improvements:
Spawn lag - limit spawns to less than 10 mobs per spawn point, per spawn.
Make Night Trader zone spawn free.
Provide for strict instances that force level appropriate entry.
Please tweak drop rates; why so stingy?
I'm glad Mabar is up. However, I think there are a few issues that need to be addressed.
My experience is purely with the Epic level of Mabar.
Here's a term I just recently learned: Spawn Lag - lag caused by 20+ mobs spawning on the same location; they're so bunched up as they rise out of the ground that they shouldn't be able to move. Instead, we can't move because it causes clients to slow down.
This seems to happen most often where players are congregated. A raid sized party causes it often. This needs a fix.
It also seems that mobs spawn anywhere players are, and that mobs are spawning by the Night Trader. I could be wrong, but it seems they're spawning there and not being kited in. The Night Trader should have a spawn free zone. It's annoying enough that people kite mobs into the area, but that's the gamers' fault. It's a pain in the tukus to be attacked when you have a trade window up and you're screwing around in your inventory.
If you are going to have level selection on entry to the graveyard, and punish us for killing things too far below our level, then you should consider offering strict instances where only characters of the levels the area is supposed to serve are able to enter.
A lower level player has everything to gain and nothing to lose by entering the Epic levelled graveyard. He or she has an opportunity to receive drops if he or she can cause the required damage, for as long as they can stay alive.
Meanwhile, the level-appropriate players suffer from the lower levelled mobs and no drops. They waste our time; which brings me to another point...
Drops seem somewhat poor. I don't think I got anything for killing the lich giant. If I did, it wasn't noticeable and it wasn't lich dust.
Aside from the above issues, Mabar is great fun. I really hope that a few improvements can be made.
Apologies in advance if this isn't the right place to post this question, but is anyone having problems upgrading the level 1 eternal wands to level 3? I got a level one eternal nimbus of light wand last night and accumulated enough motes to upgrade it to +3 tonight. My problem: The mote collector seems to think I don't have the level 1 wand even though I see it in my inventory and it's not equipped or locked. Any ideas? If anyone's successfully upgraded a wand in Mabar let me know what level instance you were in (in case it's a problem specific to the 8-13 instance). Thanks.
Edit: Solved it. Apparently, the level 1 wand needs to be dragged from inventory onto the ingredients list in the trader interface.

If they decrease spawn to deal with lag, then you have less drop chances.
I have yet to see mobs spawn at the trader. The spawn fairly closeby, but not within threat of him. Most likely people are getting aggro and they are coming over.
I haven't seen players at lvl 8 in a lvl 20 zone. It may be Sarlona, but I haven't seen it. However, I have, while solo, got some mobs that are 'too weak' to give me a reward. That is a bug. IIRC, they even know about it. It would be nice that anything your level triggers had a chance to give you a reward.
As for drop rates: It is lag related. In ever situation, if the rate seemed low, I moved to a different instance and it increased. People were saying (even on the forums) that lower level inztances were dropping more rapidly. If you take a look around, you will see it too. You go to lvl 4-9 and you see maybe 12 others out there; and only one instance. You go to 20-25 and you see 50+, and 10+ instances.
Latency can cause all sorts of fun things to happen. Especially on the server side of a complex network like what every MMO uses.
It was great to have mabar back but after 2 days epic spawns are too low, frostmarrow knight cr 11 frost giant mage cr14 and if i kil to many it says someone is atching me, great job, keep up the good work
For those asking how long Mabar will be up...
I just noticed in the DDO Sales that Festivities Gear is on Sale until November 12.
Make of that what you will...
This too is not an improvement.Make Night Trader zone spawn free.
I don't actually care about this, but I support it just to stop all the crying and whining.Provide for strict instances that force level appropriate entry.
Agreed. Or reduce the costs. Please tweak drop rates; why so stingy?
Then it doesn't count for much.My experience is purely with the Epic level of Mabar.
Yes, and? It would be stupid for the creatures to spawn where the players aren't.It also seems that mobs spawn anywhere players are, and that mobs are spawning by the Night Trader.
NO it should not be spawn-free. That's where the last 100 turn ins come from. No spot in the graveyard should be spawn free. The Night Trader should have a spawn free zone.
