Many creatures do not count toward their type in Monster Manual. Apparently devs have to include every named individually, and some are easy to forget. How many people realize "Missing in Action" has FIVE named troglodytes? And it is an ongoing project -- when MM first came out, Redfang was not counting toward spiders, now it is.

I suggest you submit a bug report.

It should have been trivial to populate the monster manual based on the creature type. There must be a database in the back end that has each creature along with the type, sub-type, race and sub-race.

On the other hand some of the creatures are not the creature type that they appear to be, for instance Red Musk Zombies are not undead, instead they are aberrations, so they would not appear in the zombie list...

Thing is, a lot of mobs aren't killable - either have scripted deaths or are friendly - especially named. A database dump isn't going to be any prettier.

Oh, and there are probably loads of mobs in test and unfinished areas that would need to be excluded

Plants actually...I'm sure there's going to be some weirdness initially, there always is.
