I'm skipping most of the thread, so maybe this has been mentioned:
I would direct lore diehards to the GenCon Keynote 2012, available on youtube, which details a new series of novels which "set the Realms right."
We asked for dev clarification on timeline. And much to our surprise (but always welcomed) we got it!
And now you add that you have some personal gripe with Elminster and don't really like him anyway. I'm not a big fan of banoffee pie which I think is equally relevant to your reply.

envelope please... Deadlock
1st line... you weren't pleased with Veriden's response to the Dev's post
2nd line... you weren't pleased by a Dev's response with you're failed attempted at gratefulness by drowning it in condescension
3rd line... you were not pleased by Veriden's personal gripe about Elminster by launching your own personal gripe about Veriden followed an absolutely irrelevant remarks about pie???
Veriden's response was thanking [an act used usually when pleased by someone doing something positive towards you] the Dev for the response... but stated a disagreement about the "richness" of the character and instead just saying "Elminster sucks" stated the relevant reasons why they thought this way followed by their relevant dislike for the character because of those factors...
Elminster & banoffee pie???

is it just me?... or maybe I just needed to get in my Daily Minimum Requirement of Griping in
You know I had been using the Superior Sarcasm font exclusively but it seems in a unannounced hotfix they slipped in the Sovereign Sarcasm font... keep up the good work guys!
If I was a mind-blowingly powerful near-immortal mage (just to clarify: I'm not) I have to say don't think I'd consider it a constructive use of time to spend weeks on end standing motionless in Eveningstar marketplace watching people sell their junk to brokers.
But I cannot exclude the possibility that, when you're near-immortal, you have more patience than I.
