    Default More and more bugs

    More bugs, yes.

Since last few minor updates, I've noticed some of them. And many other players have noticed them too, one way or another, and they can't be ignored:

Adventure Compendium > Adventures tab. Type in anything. Really. Now clear that. And write something else. See? In my client, EVERY single adventure disappears, leaving the list empty.

Another one I've noticed recently: when talking to a captain in any airship, or even using a teleporter, I pick my destiny, I get teleported to where I choose, but the teleport locations menu is still visible after the teleport. If I try to pick any other option now, It doesn't work, the only viable option is to cancel that menu (I'll remain on the ship, or Step away from the teleporter).

The option "Hide Content I don't own" is still NOT selectable. I've wrote about this bug endless times since U14 got out, I have even submit a bug report about it. But the bug is still there, even after a few minor updates have been released, none of them corrected this.

But instead of having these bugs fixed, what do we get? Shiny-sounded and golden looks in treasure chests. Nerfed spells and buffs. And even more creature companions to make DDO seem more like a zoo than a roleplay game. Whats the point of that, when there are so many minor stuff to fix?

I understand that game dev teams can be different (who make new content, and who fix bugs and glitches), but Turbine teamwork is not making a balanced game. We see more new stuff coming out than bugs being fixed. DDO is much more diverse now, but its also much more bugged and glitched. Beware of that.

    Thanks for reading.

A note for you: the team that fixes bugs and the team that makes pets are not the same. The bug fixers have little if anything to do with the pets. pets are pretty much ignored in the script, they can't attack or be attacked and they don't have HP/stats etc. they're all but invisible to the game's engine. So if they never made another pet, it still wouldn't solve this issue. Likewise, the guys who revamp spells and items are entirely two separate teams: so the spell nerfs you mention, and the chest sounds have nothing to do with fixing bugs. that's not what their team does.

what I'm saying is there are multiple teams which specialize in specific aspects of the game. Saying that Turbine should stop making pets and fix bugs is kind of like saying Starbucks should stop making new blends of coffee because your car's engine still won't start. It's two entirely different groups that really have little to do with one another.

I can sympathize as I have the first two bugs all the time. While not at all gamebreaking they are definitely annoying

After reading your reply, I can think only 1 thing: you haven't read all my post, or you haven't get my point.

I know teams are different, each person takes care of a different game detail. My comments are all about teamwork and Turbine priorities overall. Several minor bug fixes and patches have come out since these bugs I mentioned, but none of them was fixed. Instead, we only see new useless bells and whistles. That is what people currently see. Right, they must take care of stuff other than bugs and fixes, I agree on that. But patch after update after patch, we don't see a single game improvement. The only real good thing I know is UI save / load feature, and that was implemented since U14. Every small patch since that major update has only updated connection problems and such (and they are important, yes; problem are all those simple UI bugs they could solve, but they don't seem to care at all).

No, I read your post fully. You seem to think that the team that adds sounds and pets is somehow slowing the team down that fixes bugs. (See above quote) I was making sure you knew this:

I'll say it again in case it wasn't clear: when you ask what's the point of that in the quoted selection above, the point is that's a different team. They have nothing to do with bugs so asking why we get pets and not bug fixes doesn't make any sense. the guys who make the pets don't fix bugs so they don't slow them down they don't even relate.

This is why I compared one company that has nothing to do with another company. Two teams, perhaps in two different states/countries that probably don't even communicate with each other.

Again you mention the bells and whistles. You mention teamwork overall like those guys who added the sounds and pets are stopping the bug fixes, that's not the way software development works. Different groups have different abilities. the Sound guy who made the chest sounds cannot fix a bug. the Artwork guy who made the pets also cannot fix the bugs. Asking them to cooperate and function overall better also makes no sense. They do different things. Perhaps you know all this and you just worded it poorly in case just ignore this. So long as you understand if they took pets out and chest sounds out completely, we'd still be in the exact state of bugs that we are currently. They wouldn't fix them any faster.

Ok man, we got it... and I agree with our fellow when he talks about priorities. Give the pet team, the writers, designers and everything that has nothing to do with fixing the damn bugs and pay an extra (or hire new people) for the fixing bug team. Direct some resourses in a way that makes a GOOD difference. It doesn't looks like making the game works better more important than launch packs and adventurers. I know they gotta focus on selling content, but it will be in vain if the game stops working.
Unstable handwraps do not work since aways, crashes when most players steps in Sands and now also the Orchard due to some video card that should not happen (not because the video cards), ghost touch doesn't work anymore, lfm doesn't work anymore, and several dozen of issues that do not have anything to do with new content, BUT they come with them I don't know why, and I don't care how, but I say: I bought several XP pots from DDO Store (the big ones, wich comes in big packs) and run quests all weekend and three times in one day, when I was about to finish a quest, a door didn't open, the game freezes for the whole party and we all spawned outside the quest after a forced client restart or members were teleported to inside the wall.
Will I have those TP back from those hours of potion wasted due a bug that seems to be added constantly to the game lately? Will I have my money or my time back? I still got no response of those from my attempts to talk to DDO.
I brought people to the game. I used to convince people to buy some TP points with "c'mon, it is so cheap for something that will give you hours of fun... cheap like a beer you drink with friends on the bar!". But the way it is, my advice is "Don't start. They are not the way they used to be. They are more concerned on add new shine stuff than fixing the thing in a way it works nice. Or at least that team is the only team working there, since the fix team seems to be on vacation since Update 13 and we are now on Update 16 with the only great fix being the Mabar event that came to my sight"

And sorry about my poor english, it is not my primary language, I do what I can.

Sad, but all these problems are still going on... They mentioned problems since Update 14, but there are problems going on since Update 13 that are still going on... such an old issue from months ago is still present today, and more and more problems being added to old ones...
All the problems I listed happened yesterday.

It's been brought up countless times before in many different topics: The bug team has nothing to do with the cosmetic fluff team, unless the fluff breaks badly. It usually doesn't.

If you want to blame somebody, blame Turbine's management for not allocating more people to the bugfix team or not allowing them more time (not sure which it is, maybe both) to correct some of the more egregious errors, much less the minor ones, in the game's code without regard for the longevity of DDO.

That's exacly the point. Here is how I see it: "March 2013! 10 new packs! 25 new pets! Draw your own armor kit! Nothing working! Coming soon!"

Sadly, this may not be far from the truth.

I see the "there are different teams" arguments all the time. In reality, what Turbine has is a personnel budget. The personnel that Turbine has on the payroll needs to be in sync with the needs of the game. The quality of the game has clearly spun out of control, with issues much more serious than those noted in this post. We are nearly 5 months past the expansion release date, and there are still far too many unresolved issues.

To the extent that some of the personnel have the needed skills, they need to be transferred to the task of fixing some of these unresolved problems. If that still isn't enough, Turbine needs to look at hiring people with the right skills, even if that means having fewer people in the areas that are overstaffed.

The "there are different teams" argument is really just an argument for full employment for the people who currently work at Turbine. That is laudable, but if the current employee mix fails to serve the best interests of the game, in the long term there will be no game, and no employment for anyone.

Someone took the time to arrange that I'd have an eyeball in the middle of my screen. An Eyeball. In the middle of my screen. Changing interface cosmetics without changing any mechanics (like separating the combat log into different channels) is gratuitous bells and whistles, and its probably responsible for every other interface bug that appeared when those interface objects were changed. 1) can't set lfm level range 2) can't set "search for players" level range 3) can't resize various windows that used to be resizeable 4) bag search bar is oversized 5) etc.

Its embarrassing. The interface is the first thing new players see upon logging a character into the game. I don't care who knows how to do what, and I don't take it as a given that the team is as compartmentalized and single-tasked as you describe. Maybe they do it like the Cartels and just kidnap whatever engineers they need and shoot them when they're done. Maybe this last interface update was some poor kidnapped coder's last cry for help. Maybe there are clues in the new interface that can lead authorities to Turbine's secret kidnapped coder's dungeon!

Now go read what Germanicus said.

Ok, I found out what happened. There were a team fixing all bugs. They were going to rewrite the game codes and make a better game just like World of Warcraft did. They had started to do it, but then Warner Bross cut the budget to do that, and the fixing bug team is no more.
So that is the problem. Someone is leading this boat, and his way of "thinking" probably comes from those self help books that teaches you how to make quick money.
They are not interested in making money from a good product (the game) and service (customer service, answering questions, fixing bugs, etc), and they are just interested in making good money from whatever.
It is now just a matter of spit content, wich is easyer and cheaper than make it right. Before someone asks "Well, can you blame him?" I say yes I can. This is a deformed way to think that turns the cool thing that DDO and Dungeons and Dragons used to be into a hit that will last for a few months and die.

The **** from the world arrived in Stormreach. This is the new update.

that would explain all the new ingame ads i have been seeing, i checked to see what tome i still needed and i see an ad saying click here to buy tomes and upgrade, i get a negative level from an enemy and i see an ad for the store while im in a quest, c'mon, less ingame ads and more bugs fixed pls. every update brings more bugs and we are still trying to get the old bugs fixed. people are still trying to get their pets back after 5 months of turbine support, so what more can be said

Everytime the game goes down I look for a different game to download and spend money on. I like DDO but all of the problems from the first post are still in the game plus more.
There are less and less people questing,Even the newbies cant find a place to quest because only the older players know how to use the LFM because of all the tricks needed to use it now.
Whoever is doing the managing doesnt know what he is doing. If Turbin needs help I can fire people and get things back on-line.
