Default FTS TR leveling guide (aimed at 36 pts builds)

so ppl keep on asking, and most recently ive promised manntis and fay that id post this somewhere so here it is. FTS new xp grind timetable. PLS note that this list intended for a 36pt life. First and second lifers can dramatically reduce the amount of repetitions and more often than not ignore a set of quests altogether.

Im gonna try and keep description to a minimum since this list will be a massive wall of txt, so if u have any questions pls feel free to ask in comments. And pls do so coz ur question might be some1’s else as well and answering it once on comments > answering lots of times in game ^^

    Goals with this set up:
    1. Minimize time to finish a TR from lvl 0-21
    2. Some quests are not run at all even though they are excellent xp/min and some are not run on epic. This is by design in order to not hurt yourself during epic lvls while tryin to get ED xp.
    3. Some of the quests are there only for favor unlocks, of special note coin lords, house K and argonessen. I normally ignore all other favor while on a TR grind, mostly coz Im just gonna TR again straight away, but if u plan on staying at epic lvls for a while then I recommend you to skip favor and just run back and do then once you on epic lvls.
    4. Attain at least one lvl on any ED before tr’ing again.

    This list assumes that:
    1. You know the quests and can efficiently zerg your way through it.
    2. There is a caster in group, who is capable of nuking a whole room worth of mobs on elite at lvl with 1-2 spells max (by not having it your overall time will increase at least 50% to 150%)
    3. You have access to invisibility and have invested somewhat into “move silently” or have ways of increasing you score on that skill. YES move silently is very useful ^^
    4. You have access to the packs you will need in order to run each and every quest described in this guide
    5. MOST IMPORTANTLY: YOU HAVE A GODDAMN OPENER for quests life Shadow Crypt, Bloody crypt and others that require such an opener. If u plan on wasting your time flagging for quests on every single life u do by the end of your 10th life you would have wasted time flagging that would be sufficient to have completed your 11th life ;p (math might be somewhat overly exaggerated in here but you get the damn idea)
    6. You are not wasting your time flagging for raids. Things like ADQ, Pikers Fate, Shroud, etc. whle very tempting to flag, u seriously not gonna be running them. Your goal is to reach 21 asap and wasting time/xp doing raids or flagging for them is just outright stupid.
    7. You Have a Greater Tome of Learning and a +20% xp pot running at all times

Here's the quest list order which includes difficulty, frequency and some notes:
    Buying Time – CR20
    --take level 2--
    Stealthy Repossession E,Hx5,N

    Information is Key E

    The Captives E
    Catacombs part 1 E
    Catacombs part 2 E
Doom of the Witchdoctor Ex8,N,H (I normally don’t have an opener for that so I run Tangleroot until I reach that quest, the flaggin quests are easy, quick and the xp is nice as well but not worth repeating)

    Dirty Laundry E

    Delera's part 1 E
    Delera's part 2 E (all optionals)
Tear of Dhakaan E (I don’t normally do any optionals apart from killing red names that spawn on my way, mostly coz im normally soloing or group size won’t allow the split)
    --take level 8--
    Delera's part3 E
Tear of Dhakaan Nx6,H (If you can get optionals in a timely manner by all means do it, if not don’t worry since your way ahead of schedule by now anyways)
    --take level 9--
    Delera's part2 Hx7,N (all optionals)
***I normally skip Xorian, mostly coz im not familiar with the quest enough to finish it in a way that makes the quest worth it***

    Fallen Shrine Ex6,H,N
    Maraud the Mines Ex7,H,N

    Framework E,Hx7,N
    Blockade Buster Ex9,H,N
    Feast or Famine E
    Cabal for One E
    Trial by Fire E
    Maze of Madness E
    Foundation of Discord E
    Cry for Help E
    --take level 16--
    Feast or Famine Hx5,N
    Cabal for One Hx5,N
    Trial by Fire Hx5,N
    Maze of Madness Hx5,N
    Cry for Help Hx5,N

    Prison of the Planes E,Hx4,N
****DO ALL NECRO4 ON ELITE ONCE THEN TAKE LVL IF YOU ARE CLOSE TO CAP, IF NOT JUST KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR IT COZ YOU WILL CAP VERY SOON****
    Inferno Of the Damned E
    Ghosts of Perdition E,Hx7,N
    Fleshmaker's Lab E,Hx4,N
Temple of Vol Ex8,H,N (Bring BB and Sunburst, with one player on each side you can easily complete elite in 3mins or less)
    --take level 17--

    Litany of the Dead Ex9,H,N
    Missing E,Hx6,N
    --take level 18--
Running with the Devils E,Hx8,N (5 min; Conquest, Ransack; Notes: including devil optional)
Rainbow in the Dark E,Hx4,N (Only advisable with BB)
Web of chaos Chain + Beyond the Rift E (the first time completion on E makes it worthwhile running once but no more than that unfortunately due to quests time being normally a bit longer then everything else in its lvl range but hey we all want to get to eveningstar asap once we cap)
    Monastery of the Scorpion E,Nx6,H
    Ritual Sacrifice E
    Sane Asylum E,Hx8,N
    I Dream of Jeets E
    Sunken Parish E
    Shipwrecked Spy E
    Finding the Path E
    Eye of the Titan E
    Dream Conspiracy E
Enter the Kobold E,Nx6,H (if everything went right you can either skip this or take lvl19 and do it to cap)
    --Congrats on level 20--.

At this point you gonna want to do each of the challenges on epic CR23 once and then do one run on Epic Hard of each quest in House P, House D, Red Fens (skip quests done during leveling)
I normally would recommend Epic Hard instead of Epic Elite coz EE is just too time consuming and you can easily solo/duo Epic Hard, after you done with this its time to hit the bank and prepare for your next life ^^

    Key:

    E = Elite
    H = Hard
    N = Normal
A multiplier like "x5" means run that difficulty five times.

PS: its fair to say that this is based off from Carpones excellent guide (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php...ht=37+hour+tr]) with a few variations and updates of my own to adjust better to either Solo purposes or when u draggin a bad pug through quests.

    Frequent Asked Questions:

Q: assuming all the conditions listed in 1 - 7 (36 pt build, xp pots, tome of learning, voice, etc.) are met, how long does it take you to get to level 20 from the time you TR?

A:it really does vary. with a perfect setup party where:
    3 players, 1 sorc, 1 wiz (1 lvl arti splash) and 1 fvs(evoker)
every1 knows what they doin and how to zerg efficiently on every quest
you can finish quest in a timely manner (ie. durks 1min, blockade buster 1 min, wiz king all optionals 8min, ghost 4 mins, deleras pt4 3 min etc)

with this kinda setup u will see times from 20-27hours (measured in xp pot)

solo is another story tho, around 42hours

and with a poor group i can expect it to be worse then solo ^^

in general my tr's (when i have the group i like to tr with) takes around 22hours, we even once managed to do it in 18hours but that was during the crazy xp bonus week and the build ur guild bonus at the same time =]

when i solo/have a bad group it takes around 36 hours to 45 hours, dependin on how motivated i am and how my pc reacts to the the crazy ammount of mobs i gather before i kill anything ;p

I highly recommend skipping both elite Enter the Kobold and elite Monastery of the Scorpion unless you are in a static group that is extremely solid.

Both are basically impossible to PUG, but the wipe doesn't happen until you are a long way in. Also both are very difficult to pseudo-solo (i.e. you do almost all the work but have others along to do a small amount).

If you aren't keeping a vanity elite streak (i.e. a silly-high streak that you work on through multiple lives just to show off) then just do them on Hard and add in one pass of Hard IQ1 to make up for the lost XP. If you are 'vanity streaking' then IMO ignore those quests altogether and pick up the XP somewhere else at a much slower pace. (You can cheat by having a 20 in group on a Hard run to preserve the vanity streak but that defeats the purpose IMO).

Also I'd consider multiple Invaders Normal runs after your elite. Invaders is very, very quick on N (easily done in 4 minutes, can be done faster) and the optionals make it significant total XP. (Speed Invaders runs are not PUGgable though - it's F2P and so you get a lot of weak players that slow you down).

And a trick for Diplomatic Impunity: If your group does not have D-Door capability, just recall out after speaking to Ulevian and reenter, accepting the 30% of base XP effective penalty for doing so. It is very much worth it.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Why would you do that? Just have one person do the run invis and after that person talks to the dude in the cave you have the rest of the party step in. No penalty.

ETK and monastery altough harder atm and still doable in a 2/3 man group, i normally dont open lfm for those unless i already have 2 ppl i know and trust with me, after doin necro4 i tend to pick up a bunch of ppl from channels to come along and runs are always smooth coz we all know each other well and every1(almost every1 lol) there is max geared and with at least 4lives under their belt.
etk is not that bad once u have ur fire absorbs items, fireshield etc on. also i do have to agree with u that for the past 2 lives i was either a sorc or a druid so it was a lot easier then tryin to go without cold dots ;p
monastery is a pain i wont lie but im very lucky to have either darth, durk or massiv doin puzzle while i take care of the rest, if we puggin it we normally leave the pugs piking at the end puzzle while we duo it ;p

yeah i normally dont run invaders exactly due to it being f2p and located in the harbour, i cant talk for others but i always avoid both the harbor and marketplace as much as i can coz i always get hit by lag in there

we normally have ddoor in there, i tend to either always have a split arcane build or have one of my partners be an arcane, if all else fails i just shell out plat and use scrolls (altough i hate doin it coz they r so damn difficult to come by)

he most likely gave that tip coz ive mentioned a few times in the guide that i mostly solo/duo and probs assumed that some lifes i wont have access to ddoor ;p its a nice trick but in all fairness i try to always have access to ddoor =]

Well he said group. So it is safe to assume he was giving tip for a party of more than one. Not for soloing.

Besides, you can always use the hireling with dd if you solo. No need to ever take re-enter penalty.

Just was a bad tip all around.

You either underestimate the time lost going and buying a specific hireling contract and summoning the thing, or you overestimate the XP you miss out on by taking that reentry. It's not 30% of the total quest XP, it's 30% of the base which is likely 10-12% of the XP you get for completing that quest. If you carry D-Door scrolls or regularly carry that hireling contract great, I don't because I roll enough 1s on Reflex saves during a life that a stack of 3 or 5 D-Door scrolls just gets broken before I'd use them and the hireling is so rarely useful.

I wouldn't spend 3 minutes running a 10th Purge the Fallen Shrine for 1500 XP, just as I won't spend 3 minutes buying a hireling and fiddling with it in-quest to avoid a 1500 XP penalty. (Actual lost XP under the OPs assumptions is 30% of 4010 = 1203 XP, x1.30 for voice/XP pot/XP shrine = 1564, and if you do the optional in the end fight which IMO is not worth it, you get 8% of base XP instead of 10% for it).

This holds true generally too - don't overestimate XP penalties. The best XP/minute I had last life was getting into an elite VON5 bravery run that was 5 minutes from completed. Despite the '-80% base XP' penalty I still got a good 40+k XP for my 5 or so minutes.

If you group for Diplomatic Impunity, of course this does not apply - either you are PUGging and people WILL screw up your shortcuts by entering when you are 3/4 of the way to Ullevian, or you are in a tight group that probably has D-Door and even without it can time the second person's entry to the quest to mimic these shortcuts.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

Instead of admitting you were wrong, you go into a whole pointless ramble in which I am still not sure what you are trying to prove. The hireling seller is in the market right near where you level up and on the way to your ship portal from trainers. Buying a hireling takes no more time than it does to sell/repair and a lot less time than it takes to ship buff.

    So nice try.

Funny how people can never admit they are wrong.

P.S. I know all xp bonuses and penalties are off base. I have a completionist with triple caster lives and have worked out all the xp/per minute quests in this game. Not bragging, just providing evidence of experience.

    So nice try again.

But whatever, play the game how you want to play it.

EDIT: Sorry for derailing your thread OP. I won't waste anymore space regardless of what is said from here on out. You have some excellent tips for people looking for TR advice.

    I love irony.

sirgog's tip was a good one if you don't have ddoor. Well worth it on a xp/min basis.

I will continue to use this shortcut because unlike you I'm not obsessed with avoiding trivial XP penalties. That run to the market takes 2 load screens (including one into the Market, second slowest load time in game only to the House K craft hall) and ~60 seconds running, plus the actual 10 second act of casting the hireling, then several 5 second waits for a hireling to respond.

The comparison to the 10th Purge the Fallen Shrine is accurate. Similar time invested, similar XP return. It's a valuable shortcut that is not at all obvious and saves a lot of time for a totally trivial cost.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

I'm somewhat amused that you call out people for avoiding trivial xp penalties yet you feel the trivial 60s run to grab a hireling is a big deal. Perspectives I guess.

Edit: Err I guess that was a necro :/

Depends how well you screen the pugs. If you get TR players, then not hard. But if you get new players, not unusual to see 60+ min runs.

I Don't filter to hard i just look for anyone with 50-100HP below me for minimum hp and possibly a decent guild

Sorry to necro this one Sirgog(your avatar is a lich so I feel justified :P), but it's still relevant. I came across this thread looking for quests that people usually DON'T run and got the opposite but here goes:

    For Diplomatic Impunity:

No need for xp hit nor hireling with ddoor. One person enters the quest, runs all the way to the beach invis, talks, then the rest of the party enters and talks to Ulevian, they invis and run all the way to the "unbreakable" branches to meet up with the first person that went to the beach. Break the branches and run like heck, and then the mobs deactivate, kill boss. rinse. repeat.
