Default Druid Scrolls, or the lack thereof...

Is there a reason why there's not a SINGLE vendor in the entire game that sells Druid scrolls?

For some spells this is fine, Heal scrolls can be bought, Stoneskin scrolls and wands are avaliable etc, but the purely Druid ones just don't exist.

This is particularly aggravating when it comes to Reincarnate.

Druids don't get Raise Dead or True Resurrection and would need to invest massive amounts of UMD to use them.

    Instead they get Reincarnate.

The spell has an insanely long cast time (So long in fact that even quickened it's too slow to rez people that die in part 4 of the Shroud).

I'm more than happy to rez people when on my Druid, but if I'm out of SP then you're out of luck, because Reincarnate scrolls simply don't exist (apart from the extremely rare drop).

Can we please have Druid scrolls added to a vendor?

And on a side note... the reincarnate casting time has to be a bug. Its like 10 seconds long. That's just silly.

For a level 5 spell that brings you back to half health and gives buff/debuff?

Honestly, try casting the spell, or having a druid cast one on you and when you wake up after falling asleep waiting, then tell me it's not too slow.

    Oh and bump. :P

I second the motion - either give us reincarnate scrolls or... give us access to raise dead scroll. Druids should have been given at least one of the raise spells so that we could use already existing scrolls for situations which we don't have time to cast a reincarnate.

While you are at it - make it faster - it is even slower than casting a mass heal.

As a level 18 druid, I have almost never used the reincarnate spell because by the time the stupid animation is done, someone else has thrown the person a raise using a scroll. Even with quicken, the spell takes so long to cast, it is impractical to use in battle, and irrelevant after as someone else will raise them before you finish your cast.

It's still a raising spell. I'd love to have one on my sorcerer, regardless of cast time.

That said yes, there should be scrolls. Make the reincarnation guy sell them, that's the only druid I remember in-game.

I suppose druid's being so new to the game ... many have not feated scribe scroll.

Thing being though is not something usual in a D&D setting to come across an actual druid scroll even in looted treasure. The D&D loot tables list 71-100 fall under priest scrolls and is by DM convention if they wish to toss in out of that. Most druids are not known for jottin' things down. I wonder however, if they had would it be in Druid (thier secret language)?

I know how slow it is, I have a 20druid/3epic and working on another.
It should be long, however a little shorter would be nice.

    Default well

without druid scroll vendor, druid dilettante is just ****...

you only get low level wand whipping (may just use pots) + ice storm and stone skin wand and tha'ts it

you lose either heal scroll use at 95%, night shield, protection from evil, divine power, heroes feast

or invisibility, displacement, teleport, command and halt undead, prismatic ray, night shield, protection from evil, expeditious retreat, detect secret door, reconstruction

no scrolls = dilettante is pointless...

I use helf with cleric dilletante for levelling TR druid builds. This gives me access to raise dead scrolls from a reasonable level. I don't even have reincarnate on my TR'd level 18.

Artificers have a similar problem - although not that bad.
The only reliable source of Arti scrolls in House Cannith doesn't even sell high-level scrolls.

Necroing this because nothing appears to have changed in the year since this thread was started.

I didn't realize there were no druid scrolls in the game until today when I leveled up to 9 and tried to buy some scrolls of reincarnation. Very annoying.

At a minimum I think vigor and reincarnation should be added to the divine scroll vendor list. I can understand not wanting some of the spells to be available (animal growth, etc.), but there's nothing game breaking about letting players scroll a raise dead spell.

Turbine, please support this premium class.

    Heh, nice necro.

Yup, it's still an issue even after a year.

I still find it ludicrous that on a class with an inherent ability to raise people from the dead, in most cases it's preferable to use a non class skill (UMD) to use a non class scroll of a non class spell (Raise Dead).

But I'll be honest, after a year with no change (Not that I really expected anything but figured it was worth a shot, a dev might have been bored) I've pretty much given up on the idea and resigned myself to the usual DDO Hoop Jumping and Work-arounds.

It also doesn't help that it's quite hard to actually find my old threads since the forum change.

I am unwilling to gimp my druids enough to make them helf. Been there, done that, not doing it again. I have taken to only reincarnating after the battles are over if no one has used a clickie. We need reincarnate on a scroll, if nothing else. Seriously.

Its not just Druid...there are no Primal scrolls (only Divine ones)

Ram's Might and Shillelagh in particular, one can see why they don't make those available. Primal classes have good combat ability, and are backed up with some limited spellcasting. Druids can focus more in spellcasting at the expense of their combat, of course.

But I think the logic is that they don't want to let anyone in a Martial class, with excellent combat ability, just UMD themselves into being essentially a Ranger or Druid splash, without actually taking any Ranger or Druid levels.

Not saying it couldn't be done, or shouldn't, just pointing out that there might be a lot of people upset they're stuck with a level of Druid on their Thief-Acrobat when they could just scroll Shillelagh, since UMD is class for them anyway...

I can see this point of view. That's why my alternative is to put resurrection scrolls in the divine scroll vendor list. They already have raise dead scrolls, so another ML9 scroll that does essentially the same thing won't enable any 'exploits.' I don't see any down side to enabling more builds to heal and raise dead.

Even acrobats can't hold a scroll and a staff at the same time
