    Default Shadowdancer shadow charges question

By reading the descriptions, it reads like it should work similar to adrenaline "charges".

But for the life of me, Im not showing an enhancement that shows how many shadow charges I have saved up.

Am I missing something, or is this destiny not WAI?

If you take an enhancement that requires a charge to activate it, and you move said enhancement to your hot bar, then it should have a counter on the activation button. (i.e. Cloak of Shadows, Shadow Manipulation, Shadow Form)

When I drag an ability that uses Shadow Charges to a shortcut bar, it has the number of charges on the icon's bottom right, just like an action boost or Adrenaline.

some of this is very bugged and not all seem to be working... plus i have found many times so far that I get the message (you are not in right stance or do not have enough charges) when i try and use the assasinate abilty after being a shadow dancer. I do hope it gets fixed since with only half working its not really worth having.

I too use Shadow Form often, and my experience has been that when I get this message, and then look at my Rogue, he's been pulled out of sneak mode by something. A grazing hit, errant AoE spell, or anything else that could cause him damage. Taking any damage from an npc breaks sneak.

Nope, only getting attacked (not necessarily hit) breaks sneak. Spells, trap damage and whatnot else does not break stealth.

In my brief experience with this ED, it is still too broken to use. I have moved on to some others. It is a shame too since on paper it looks very nice. Particularly, if your ranged, the executioner's stike will not work. I am not sure if it is the same way for melee or not. The shadow charge counter should be similar to Fey favor charge ups where you get an icon across the buff bar and not on the hotbar skill. Nor should it require a seperate skill to start charging up. It is just broke. So far, a total piece of junk.

That's true, but since the update I have noticed that I get knocked out of stealth and lose my assassinate attempt much more often. What I'm seeing is I go in to assassinate a mob, I hit assassinate and I make the visual attack and see the damage in the combat log, assassinate goes on timer, but I get the message that I'm not in the right stance. The combat log shows my assassinate attempt before the mob's damage to me and yet I'm knocked out of stealth and lose the attempt.

Very little about the ED is broken. Not showing shadow charges unless you have something that uses them on your hotbar is annoying and a design flaw. I can't confirm whether Untouchable works (gives 1% dodge for each charge) if you don't have another enhancement that uses charges and thus shows you your count, but it does work if you have an enhancement that uses charges. I can try to test that later and update if someone doesn't do it before me. Prior to U14.2 Consume didn't do anything. It now does do something but the save appears to be quite low. Haven't tested yet, this is based on other comments I've read. Another design flaw that we can't see the DC (hint hint dev's). Executioner's Strike is the only thing that is really broken and that's only the insta-kill on hit effect. The +[w] damage, crit range and multiplier do work (at least for melee).
Cannith: Lysaer (assassin); Arithon (assassin, too); DrShortLove on the Wand (he's short, he's a cleric, he has a wand and he's not afraid to use it); Mindok the Mind Menace (he's short, he's dead, fear his finger); Naruvek (pewpewpew artificer); Rathain (monk, that is all); Rauven (pewpewpew mechanic); Saruvek (mutt)

This is a problem lately, because drow in eveningstar use some kind of cleave attacks, similar to orthons/green devils. Except they hit much more often, and in a 360 degree arc, and keep throwing you out of sneak. It happens to me a lot too, and it's very very annoying.

Also, sometimes you can re-sneak, and use assassinate again, even though it's on timer on your hotbar, after having it cancelled by not being in sneak. As in, only your client is showing the cooldown, but since you didn't actually assassinate on the server, it's not on CD there. There won't be any attack animation on your side, but the enemy will still get hit by it and die.

Sadly, your brief experience has steered you away from an incredibly fun ED to play. I have Shadowdancer 5 on my lvl 24 Rogue/Assassin, and use the perks offered from this ED to solo Epic Hard content.

What I benefit from most and enjoy about this ED:

Technician (+6 to Flanking Attacks, bonus to trapping skills is nice too)
30 seconds of Full Movement in Sneak, including Jumping
    20% Less Melee Threat
    Double Strike Profane Bonus
    Shrouding Strike
    Cloak of Shadows
    Improved Invisibility
    Shadow Manipulation
Shadow Form (Incorporeality, and Move Silent & Hide are both over 80)
    +6 Assassinate
+1 All Skills (helps UMD scrolls)
    Immunity to Energy Drain
    D-Door

If you are a Rogue, and you do not enjoy this ED, then you are likely playing your Rogue like a Fighter with trap skills. Which is okay, but just means that this probably is not the right ED for you anyway.

    I'd like them to fix/change:

    - losing charges on rest
    - optional Shadow Form graphics (maybe a purple glow effect? Dislike the floatie PM thing when I'm used to skulking about)
    - fix Ex Strike insta-kill
    - fix "no Shadow Charges w/o counter"
    - fix "stand absolutely still" w/ Improved Invisibility
    - add Deathblock to Sealed Soul
    - fix and upgrade "Oncoming Darkness"; either reduce the counter or up the damage

    Ascent on Argo

you just need a counter on your hot bar for shadow charges.
it does not have to be an active part of the ED.

just add an something with a counter to your ED.
pull it to your hot bar.
    reset tree back to normal.
    profit

    Default Shadow Shot Completely Broken

I'm an AA who's 27K away from tier 6 of Shadowdancer and have tried using Shadow Show since the very beginning. Not once has it ever given my a shadow charge. I've killed countless enemies with the 'curse' symbol above their head from being hit by shadow shot, but even when countless mobs have died with the curse still lingering over the corpse, I have yet to ever retain a single shadow charge. Not one of the abilities I've obtained which require shadow charges has ever worked once outside of the extra weapon damage one receives. Very upset about this as one can imagine. Makes the destiny more or less worthless.
