Does the 1/2 Elf Rogue dilly stack with the Monk Ninja sneak attack damage?
I think for Rogues and Monks (if the answer was "no" and I think it is) - Elves are an interesting choice for the DM as displacement is verrrry nice. At least for players who don't have GS/epic gear available to them.
Hmm.... why is Elven Arcanum only available to elven wizards? Many other caster classes would benefit from extra spell pen, as well. Sorcerers and bards, especially.
Yeah it's mainly the +4 Spell pen to wizards, and I don't think halfelves get the reduced arcane spell failure enhancements either...also as many other people have pointed out, half elves are ugly as hell.
I made my falchion kensai elf for the +4 racial damage, and picked up 2 dragonmarks for over 10 minutes of self buffed displacement. This was before the half races were released, and frankly I wouldn't care to TR to horc or helf because the amount of displacement granted is a rather nice convenience. I hardly notice the -2 con penalty at over 600hp with 2 toughness feats and no GS hp item.
As said elves still have a place. Especially as a wizard now. You need all the pen you can get. Only problem is the the self heals. usually ur expected to have those somehow. And I think a pure wiz could really only get to 35 unless they wanted to give up some stuff slot wise.
Still close with a miss being 4 or less. So if you went AM could still go elf with the gear.
But melee wise I don't know. Displacement is nice, (didn't know they got that displacement buff from the things) But that would really only be used for a first (very first) life. I mean after farming out the vale on another char, you can make tons of GS blanks and hand em over to alts. All they need is the ingredients, and the alters on a ship (just the first 2) and they have displacement clickies.
So i'd say elves are mainly the thing for mages. As for arcane archer no. Those helves might be the ugliest bastards on this side of gods green earth, but with the human enhancements and the elf enhancements, and the dili's their's no contest. The helf wins. The only thing that rivals them is the human which is basically why the ugly freaks are so good enhancement wise, or the HORCS for sheer dmg that even rivals the burst hasted human dmg combo.
Course I thinks thats mainly 2 handed so 2 weapon i'd prolly go helf or human if the feats were really tight. I mean even with my rogue, it's helf. I have my bluff, then I have my helf bluff. Using those with steam powered haste and dmg iv boost. Heal amp stacked with wand and scroll mastery. It's just flippn sweet enhancement wise.

In the event of not making your elf a wizard helves are better for every other aspect , you want more dmg and con , go helf , you want heal amp , human versatility which equals too more dmg then your + 2 and + 4 from elf does . Rougue and cleric dilitant . Is enough to rival any race choice on any build . The only clear may e would be a wizard , every thing else just has more versatility and more dmg .
My main has been an elf for 2.5 years , hate to say that when I went half elf for my last 3 tr's , I was like yeah , heal amp , more dmg , scroll healing for a free dilletant feat awesome , Plus the extra con ain't so bad .
Don't mind the spelling and punc please iPhone stinks at this .
Elf enhancement line really needs a beef up . I mean ranged for instance plus 2 to hit and plus 2 to dmg . Is really low compared to other classes specs .
Would be cool if legs got like 15 or 20 percent ranged alacrity that stacked which would really only be like 8 percent .
Or maybe some real dmg boost like maybe 6 pnts dmg via 3 tiers . Something hat really says hey there's a reason elves are meant to be really good at archery .
The only situacion when you want elf over HE is 1st life wizzard if you plan to stay long in that form.
Unfortunetly this is problem of most races, that they dont really bring much. HE and WF are slightly different, but other than that playing for example human ranger and elven ranger is preatty much the same.
Elves (both high and drow) need more perks. And its not even about this poor -2Con - no big deal here - its about being boring and same as any other race.
I think Elves are easily the weakest race at the moment, if you are min/maxing I can't think of a build which couldn't be done better with another race, yes they can get +4 to spell pen with wizards but the drawbacks vastly outweigh the advantages. Hopefully with the enhacement update we will elves getting a major boost.
I think half elf is arguably the strongest race in a general sense. Although Humans are also a very very strong race. Followed by half orc/warforged. I should add this is my opinion of course. I think the other race that potentially could use a little but not significant boost is drow, hopefully their spell resistance could be made more useful in epic elite?
Personally, I enjoy my elf wiz-rogue tremendously. I've got a spell pen 2 higher than a pure wizard of the same level, and I get to wear leather armor with no spell failure (which, while not a huge improvement, is handy now that AC matters a little bit), and usually evasion works with insightful reflexes. Also, elves look better than helves, and I think undead form in armor looks really awesome.
However, if you're not a wizard, I don't see a lot of incentive to roll an elf over helf outside of flavor. But, IMHO, flavor is about the best reason to do something.

I think it falls more under personal preference. I personally like the half-elf mainly because of the dilletante feat. It is nice to grab the Wiz or Sorc dilly on other classes. That way i can use items such as shield(self only spell) wands to stop magic missiles. I can also save the casters some mana by carrying some of the low level buffs. This also helps when not in a group. May not last as long as a casters, but still comes in handy. All of this without spending points I could use elsewhere in UMD.

Crime in multi-storey car parks: it's wrong on so many levels.
If they fix the Arcane Fluidity Enhancements (like they say they will) then it would be awesome (1 AP per level, so costs 4 AP total). Instead, it is just mildly cool, but even better as a Wizard who uses Tenser's (after fix), if you are that type of wizard of course.
As for the comment I saw on first page... someone said the -2 to con on a drow was a deal breaker, and that the +2 Int/Dex/Cha was negligible bonus that can easily be overcome with gear, enh, etc... WHAT?!? I know Con is very important... but how is a single -2 on ONE stat so major, when having +2 to THREE stats is negligible... lol
Only amounts to 20 HP difference on builds that now are 600-1200 HP, which is really close to negligible IMO... where +2 Int/Dex/Cha = +1 DC on spells, +1 AC (which matters a lil more now), +1 to-hit (and possibly damage depending on items)... and ALL of that is rolled into one character, at the expense of having the embarrassment of having 635 HP as opposed to 655... I don't know how that -2 Con so far outweighs the other benefits (plus innate SR, and other perks)

The answer to the OP's question is "no." Elves are still hella sexier (males and females). Helves look like barbie dolls that have been left out in the sun.
I refuse to play a helf because of how ugly the modeling is.
