Because the colloquialism is "country mile", not just "mile" and not everyone is a lazy typist looking to save 7 keystrokes at the expense of the flavor intended.

You could have just as easily typed "just say mile." but you chose to add extra words too. Why didn't you opt for "less confusing" and "less words" yourself?... Because it would have short changed your intended message, correct?

To explain it in DDO terms:

Sometimes you play halfling barbarians that, while less efficient, inject much more color in the group.

As to the original half-elf discussion, this is the real reason we get spider masks.

    Bah...can't stand them.

Do you want to be the guy with the corvette....Or the guy with a 454 shoved into a pacer (hint:you remove the front seats and sit in the back seat)...

Do you want to be the camaro, or the 400hp Fiero...

I will NEVER partake in the current uber flavor, no matter how fugly they are (this gets bonus points in my book)

In my opinion Human is more veratile than Half-Elf cause Extra feat>Dilettante in the majority of builds.

Thinking about it, this is probably true as a lot of builds could really benefit from an extra feat. In general, I would say that:

Human Extra Feat > Dilettante for:

    Barbarian
    Bard
    Cleric
    Favoured Soul
    Paladin
    Wizard
    Sorcerer

    Human Extra Feat ~ Dilettante:

    Rogue

    Human Extra Feat < Dilettante:

    Artificer
    Fighter
    Monk
    Ranger

yeps. The extra feat.. or whipping cleric spells and +1 wis

The feat, or dealing 3d6 SA dmg. and +1dex

The feat, or using everything arti based and jacking up the casting lv of those items.. and +1 int

The feat, or another 20 hp and +1 con.

All that with everything the human has (human verse, and adapt/greater adapt/toughness3/heal amp.) And ya even get some elven stuff to. But that's mainly just immune to sleep and stuff more for traps and what not.

I mean come on. 3d6. Most would castrate their character for that.

Paladin and Barbarian if TWF'ing DPS builds should take Rogue Dilettante hands down. If THF'ing should probably be halforc (and are up a feat anyway as don't need khop prof).

Rogue gets more out of artificer dilettante from +1 int (assassinate DC) and everything else it offers. If the rogue has dumped int then they should reroll >>

For casters I'd generally agree that an optimal/end game/uber geared build will be human but halfelf gives a lot of leniency while leveling and in alternate roles that a human struggles in. For instance, I really enjoyed leveling a 2nd life wizard with paladin dilettante; cure serious wands were great until I took wraith form and the +5 save kept me mobile except on rolls of a 1 in just about all elite content (even elite traps in full parties just tickled in most cases). Fighter dilettante brings a lot to a pure hybrid FvS. Cleric/FvS Dilettante can let a PM scroll/wand harm/inflict.

TL;DR: If you only want to play 1 race the halfelf is the one to choose.

Never really seen the point of TWF Barbarian myself, since 2HF has so much more synergy with the class, and in this case the extra feat is preferable - Toughness and Stunning Blow on a pure Barb is very nice.

For Paladins, just comparing human to half-elf the human build comes out ahead on 2HF but loses on 2WF. The difference here is that 2WF is a lot better for Paladins so you may well be right, although the extra Feat and skill point is still very nice.

With Rogue, I hadn't realised about Artificer dilly, so Half-elf is a more advantageous choice there..

As for casters, they are fairly easy to get to cap anyway, and at cap the extra feat is definitely superior.

So, it is probably a fifty-fifty split for current classes between Human and Half-Elves.
