    Default Can't Connect

When I run DDO, I can't seem to get any connection.
I've followed all of the steps to fix it found in the FAQ but nothing worked. I don't really get it... I just moved and it used to work fine. I've run it on my laptop and it works fine as well. Other games work great, but now my DDO for some reason isn't.

I've re-installed the game twice, just did a re-install of Windows and neither helped.

next steps would be to check that your firewall will allow ddo to work, make sure your router isnt blocking it in some way and then get onto your ISP, as youve jsut moved its likeley something to do with your new ADSL line, or whatever you are using

i had a problem like this a couple of times,
i thought game was down then saw nothing on forums.
after alot of messing i reset my router and i could connect to ddo again.
it still happens sometimes when my router is reset,
it's like the router picks a banned i.p or something.

I've checked my firewall and that doesn't seem to be the problem.
Is there any way to check and see what IP is picked and if it's banned or causing a problem?

When you moved, did you change internet providers?

Are you connected wired or wirelessly? Other computers in your house connect to DDO fine, except for one?

On the system that's having difficulties, you'll want to clear the DNS cache. (I'm not sure if you did that already.)
    http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/vie...ngBrowserCache

Could you run and post your tracert to the DDO servers from the system that's having the difficulties?:

    I didn't change providers when I moved.

Not positive what that means though...

I tried clearing DNS and following the other steps on that link, same issue happening... just hangs when trying to connect.
I'll have to bring my laptop back home from work and test it out again. I was previously 'borrowing' a wireless connection until I got internet hooked up. Right now, I'm trying to connect from my desktop, wired into the connection. It worked fine a few weeks ago, I moved, got internet hooked up and now my desktop won't connect :|

The tracert was done while on your desktop through the wired connection? It looks clean to me.

DDO has three or four separate entries that would be in the firewall. Remove them all from the firewall. Then launch DDO and see if they're automatically re-added to the firewall. (Sometimes the DDO entries need to periodically be removed from the firewall and then added back in.)

You might need to set up port forwarding. DDO uses port ranges 9000-9013 and 2900-2913 on UDP:
    http://de.support.turbine.com/link/p...arding-and-DDO
(Since your desktop isn't connecting through a wireless router and I'm not sure if you're using a wired router, port settings might not apply to you.)

    Hmm...

Curious if my firewall is blocking it then. Where can I look to see the programs my firewall blocks?
I only had one entry and that was one I added trying to fix this issue before. I deleted it and when I tried to start DDO again I didn't get any messages about letting it through which I normally get.

Depending on which stage (game launcher, or after picking world server and trying to load the game client) I'd recommend the articles here and here but also following up with a tech support request as well if those don't help you narrow it down.

This has some brief firewall information:
    http://ddowiki.com/page/Firewall_setup

    dndclient.exe
    dndlauncher.exe

I thought that the TurbineLauncher.exe and TurbineInvoker.exe access the internet as well, so those are a couple more to add if necessary.

Well, I finally remembered to bring my laptop home and try to connect on that. It worked fine when running my wireless connection but once I wired it in, I got the same problem where it hangs on the 'Connect' step and then eventually gives me a cannot connect error.

I also found out that I actually did change internet providers. I live in a foreign country(Korea) so I had someone set it up for me. They said it was the same but I got a bill today and found out it is not...
Is there possibly something going on with this provider to cause a problem? All my other online functions work as normal so it's strange to me why only DDO and LotRO are effected (I installed LotRO as well to see if that would work, same problem).

What would happen if I introduced a router to my connection? Would that just make things worse or would it be the same as before?

Connecting wirelessly makes DDO work perfectly for you? Is it only your wired connection that gives you the connection error?

On your laptop could you do the tracert wireless and then do it wired, so that we can compare the difference?

I do remember some issues with internet service providers, where some Korean players were having difficulties connecting to DDO a year or so ago. Who is your new provider, and who was your old provider?

I'm unsure if you'd have any benefit by adding a router to your network, but it might be worth trying in case the change somehow mysteriously helps.

    Default Cant' connect as well

Connected fine last night. Now neither myself (based in the UK) nor my friend in Germany can log on. We get continual fails at the connect step.

    No change in isp's
We do not have a common router type (mine is netgear, her's is a well-known German brand)
    Reboot of machine fails.
Not looked at firewall, but machine was fine last night.

Your forum posting time shows 3PM,is that the same as Turbine Eastern USA time?

The servers were down for a hotfix from about 2-4 PM Eastern USA time today.

Having a similar problem, my own thread on it: forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=371227

Did turbine block large swaths of IPs or something?

I had same problem this morning. After 5 attempts I closed the launcher deleted the account name that was saved and retyped it along with the password and it connected fine. No idea why.

There's the tracert from my wireless connection.
Again not really sure what it means but if you see anything weird compared to my wired tracert, it'll be a huge help!
