Default Damn I forgot all - Need Wiz, Fig, Rog

Ok, ive been out for a couple years.

    1. Issue: Im making a WIZ/SORC (primary), FIG, ROG - and need help on the build

    2. Would Like: Solo Ability, Heavy Spell usage, FIG (use of multiple weapons), ROG (traps, locks, evade etc) - I can heal myself with pots or wands (high UMD) or repair (if WF)

Ive seen the billions of thread discussions of WF / DROW Magic Use and each has its pros and cons.

Dont care the race, but im partial to Drow

If anyone knows a good link to multiple build choices or has a build gathering dust id be glad to try it.

    Appreciate any help.

    Question 1!
    A) Will you be playing with a small group of close friends who really don't care? B) Or will you be pugging?

If you answer B, stop right now. If you answer A, keep going.

You only need 2 Rogue for traps & evasion. And 12 wizard gets you some nifty stuff as well as leaves Kensei Open to help with some fairly crappy BAB.

If you are going drow, and I recommend against drow due to their heinous Con, stick with their racial weapons.

    Question 2!
    A) Will you have access to 34pt builds if drow (36 if any other race)? B) Are you trying to do this on a 28pt 1st life character?

If you answered A, keep going. If you answered B, stop....

You'll need a decent int to feed your skills, prob at least a 14 so if you want UMD as well as traps/spot/search, don't go the sorc way. At LEAST a 14 con, and a good solid 14 or 16 in str. Keep your dex and cha out of negatives. Without a good dex/Reflex save, evasion will do you less and less good the later into levels you go.

[YEP, answer is B. Mostly Solo] - Any advise on which level to be which to maximize each class??]
[I understand about the poor CON with DROW] - So would you recommend Human, even though the Intel, Dex and Char are higher?

[Unfortunately its a 28 pt build] - Agree not the Sorc.
    -----------------------
    Additional Questions:
    3. Agree on the 2 levels of Rog and at least 12 lvls of Wiz. What level gains the most feats, spells, access to class specific stuff (like at 1st level, Human gains an additional Feat) or I need a MIN ____ Dex for evasion.

    4. What race would you select for a 12Wiz, 2 Rog, 6Fig

    5. Similar to question 3 At what level would you choose each class?

I know each question there are several good answers but im trying to redo my second character 14Wiz, 1Barb (yea, i know) - i went for the Barb because it opened me up to use other weapons and believe it or not that 1 level of Barb has gotten me out of some scrapes.

    Thanks

    might i suggest you reconsider?

If you really do want to swing a sword with your caster start with say14 str and masters touch a great axe or great sword for low level mana conservation, that isn't a bad idea at all.
As you level you will be less and less interested in swinging your sword at things.

might I suggest the classic 18/2 Warforged wizard/rogue build for the self healing. 14 str , 18 con , 18 int. 1st level rogue then all wiz till firewall or till you feel you "need" evasion. skills; max UMD, search, disable device, the rest is gravy and up to you.
throw in insightful reflexes and viola' instant win , closest thing to a solo easy button in DDO.

if you are really looking to go battle caster drow might I suggest a Favored Soul? tougher to squeak in trap skills but you really don't "need" them.
Move along , Nothing to see here

Thanks for the classic WF Wiz/Rog. Im also looking at some Fighter ability to go solo and to use a myriad of weapons. Also have some killer armor and robes (from previous players) and very few Docents.

So i will try this build. Do you have any recommendations on a Wiz, Rog, Fight build? If so, then what levels would you recommend selecting what class?

    Thanks

    16sorc/2fighter/2rog WF

Focus on melee and no DC spells (ice storm, firewall if standing still, lvl5 dot spells, polar ray).
Grab a two handed axe or sword and slice your enemys. If you can fit in, add cleave, greatcleave.

With this build, you dont need much charisma, but you need a few point to INT, and max STR. And of course CON. If you have enough feats and stat points, and can reach 30+ reflex, add insightful reflex.

Have you considered bard instead of wizard? They generally multiclass better than wizards, have more skill pts to spend on trap skills, have more HPs, can self-heal easier if fleshy, and tend to get fewer dirtier looks for being melee-specced than arcanes, if only because people expect less from bards.

I was thinking about specking a WF vs Drow. I think Rog at 1st Lvl is good but would you go with
    LVL
    1 ROG
    2 WIZ
    3 FIG
    4 WIZ
    5-? WIZ
what levels for the other ROG and FIG?

    Thanks

Ya know ive never tried a Bard. I have always favored the Magic users (even back in the 70s with pen and paper), and my first character was 14WIZ, 1 BARB (for the weapons useage). Ive been out for a year or two and want to play something im familiar with. I will prob try Bard, Ranger, Fav Soul and the new one once all the whoopla is gone.

Is there another way around taking a level of melee and still use all the nice disruptors, paralyzers, vorpals etc i have collected from my other characters?

    Appreciate the help.

I would start as rogue, then fighter, then 16lvl sorc. As wizard, you would have mana problems.
WF is superior for this kind of character, coz the self healing. Im saying that despite i dont like robots. Drows are (sadly) the weakest race in ddo.

I think you should consider a 16 bard, 2 rogue, 2 barb - human. You'll have wicked saves from songs, and skills, be viable endgame and you should be able to hit stuff... at least in theory , either that or 16 bard, 2 rogue, 2 fighter (I prefer 2 barb for run speed, mini rage and a tiny bit of DR at least at low levels).

Fighters do get extra feats though yum!

Plus as a human bard you can heal yourself woohoo! and if you really don't like him and you just make haggle, he can be your haggle bot for when you run shroud!

The bard option is the best answer for PUGging, because as you get closer to 20 you'll still be accepted when you apply to other people's LFMs. Not all of the time, because there are people out there who think that having more than one class in a build means it is completely gimp, but most of the time.

If you prefer to start your own groups, and take charge of your group, you can get away with deep-class abominations if you prefer to play them.

It's all about whether you'll be applying, or taking applications.

If your so keen on having weapon proficancy you could go halfelf wiz18/2rog with a fighter dilly. You'll need divine power to hit things at higher levels, but you probably need that anyway even with the fighter splash.
