    Artificer past 6 does not add significantly to Xbow Damage
    Arcane Archer is lacking between Manyshots - So using Repeating Xbow is a good choice
    Mech I damage does not stack with Insightful Damage
    - you could use Insightful Attack with Mech +INT but DEX needs to be high anyway for Imp Precise Shot
    Kensei does add, and since more time will be spent using Xbow that will be the specialty
    Endless Fusillade is limited in uses but counts as a boost - Kensei adds 2 boosts - 1 more from AP
    17 BAB qualifies for better to hit and more manyshots unaided.
    2 Monk adds evasion, 2 toughness feats, and slightly better saves (as well as a confusing extra bar)

    While it may not give much more damage to crossbow, it gives damage to the rune arm, which is about half the DPS you'll deal.
    If you want max ranged dps that doesn't cost SP, you're going to want to go level 20 arti, for a total DPS of around 500-600 (including pet, rune arm, and crossbow) which is at least 150-200 more DPS than any other ranged build can hope for.
    Not to mention all the other good stuff, like int to damage, blade barrier, etc.

    Minor: INT to damage is available to Artificer level 6

    Have you added Artificer - including dog and runearm to your spreadsheet? I would love to see it.

    The goal of this, and many AA builds is to create decent damage without worrying about the limitations of a dog, runearm, or even unassisted BAB that are not captured by the spreadsheet. (For example trapping without evasion is not for the weak of heart)

    Any thoughts on how well this achieves that?

    10,000 Stars is a new option for an Arcane Archer which can give more DPS while remaining ranged 2/3 of the time but it is exclusive with crossbow as you need the Ki to use 10k stars.

    As AO said I'd either go 20 Artificer or make a 10k stars build. A final option is to hang out for DWSII (coming soon TM) and go 12 ranger / 7 artificer / 1x.

    10k stars builds:
    12 monk / 6 ranger / 2 fighter
    12 ranger / 6 monk / 2 fighter
    12 fighter / 7 monk / 1 artificer

    I'm sure there are more but these are the main ones that I've seen.

    If 10K builds allowed ranged 100% - I would love them - unfortunately until monks get Ki from ranged - it's just not there

    I also could have gone Rogue (but not assassin since Battle Engineer conflicts) but I didn't want my dps depending on the skill of the tank to always keep aggro

    A surged Manyshot alternated with Damage boosted Endless Fusillade was as close to reasonable damage I could come up with for pure ranged dps

    Assuming I want to stay with pure ranged - any comments on the build itself?

    It's 40 seconds of every 2 minutes that neither 10k stars or manyshot isn't active. During this time you have the option to swap to melee or to stay ranged. If in water stance III or being hit a bit in earth stance I-III you'll passively generate enough Ki to keep 10k stars going without ever having to swap to melee.

    Otherwise, I'd still definitely take a pure Artificer over your build.

    Did some digging and yes rune arm dps seems quite nice,
    but for pure ranged, I am missing why this build is getting turned down

    So some quick comparison between Kensei 2/Monk AA (Monk) with this build (Arti)
    - just counting shots fired and assuming wiki is correct

    Both start with 20 seconds of Manyshot - even
    Arti has 4 EFs at an average of approximately 2 bolts/sec 100 secs*2 = 200
    ( http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=4204877 )

    Monk has 2 * 10,000 stars at even 2 * normal rate
    = 40 seconds of bow + 2*2*30 seconds of stars (assuming bow is 1/sec) = 160

    It seems that this build shoots more missiles than the 10,000 stars build
    So I must be missing something as to why this build is being heralded as so much worse
