I would love to see PRE's get the attention they deserve and be finished for all classes in the next few updates.
“If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking till you do succeed.”
They are all over the board on this. For instance, bards were one of the first to get tier 1, then some classes got 2 PRE all the way to tier 3 while bards still sit at tier 2. To even act like we have any idea of what they are aiming for is hilarious.
Advocating repeated nerfs in the name of "balancing the game" then complaining about how DDO is moving away from D&D, is a direct contradiction in logic - D&D 3.5 (what DDO is based on) is not a balanced game. We can either have a balanced clone MMO with homogenized classes, or we can have a D&D game. We cant have both.
People claiming these are not a high priority because they do not create revenue for Turbine seem to be missing a few crucial points.
Artificer - even though can be earned with points I think majority of players still prefer easiness to buy from store. If it had more PRC it might make it tempting for some people who would buy it from the store. Pretty much same for FvS.
Another point is replay value and combating boredom. After I had capped my wiz I would not bothered to play another wizard but then palemaster came and I was like woohoo and capped again.
New races, classes and PRC are all good ways to add replay value for the game. What I am waiting most are new PRC for both Arti and FvS or at least finishing the ones that were started.
I have zero faith that the PrEs will be finished in the next two years. Zero.
The irony is releasing PrEs is considered content by some. Something people always want.
Hilarious Princess....Sorry your life is so medicore after all this time..Lol, you are scared of a farmer? with a tractor....?
The nature of the game has changed since the concept of PrE's was added. I think there have been a number of staff rotations since DDO started. I'd say very little of the thinking and concepts that were there at the start remain.
Now it's micro-transaction fuelled so don't expect them to work on anything they can't charge you for in the DDO store. If it's not game breaking and can't be put in the DDO store, why would Turbine waste man hours on it?
I understand that Turbine exists to make money, and pre's dont, but there is evidence that Turbine does have standards, and that their devs have some pride in their work, so it is difficult to understand why sorcs got 3 lvls of pre recently whilst other classes seem not to rate a full tree. I know that its all time, and time=money, but the pres are a big part of the game and if they could add say 3 levels of pre each update for a year or two alongside the updates that is not unreasonable. Please Devs, we know you want our money, but have some pride in finishing some of the bits you have done already.
Willibold,Hesteban,Tooflower,Commabayou,Skummspawn ,Machiavehlli,,and Dramoh.
Look out for them in-game.Tyrs Paladium on the big G ftw
This is one of my biggest gripes with DDO - that it still feels unfinished 5 years into the game.
New classes/races are good and all, as is new content, as it keeps people interested, but they really need to finish PrEs that came out 3 years ago. It's beyond ridiculous.
And in the meantime, people are getting burned out of DDO or simply distracted by other, newer games that are coming out.
I know quite a few people that have left to play Skyrim, and many more that will leave when SW:TOR comes out in a month.
Money problems or not, Turbine really needs to pull their finger out and get the PrEs finished.
PS - on a side note regarding PrEs, the other thing that irks me is that the newer PrEs seem to have FAR more benefits than the older ones.
Compare some of the newer PrEs such as AoV or Artificer's Battle Engineer with, say, Warchanter or Tempest.
+1 hit/+2 dmg and a DR 5/- song, or +10% offhand and +2 AC vs. the new PrEs that come with invincible pets, or short-term uber buffs, or AoE debuffs, or permanent bonuses to boost your weaponry, etc.
Turbine's goal is to release 6 updates per year. If every update added 3 tiers of a new or unfinished PrE it would still take a decade or so for all PrE's to be fully implemented if we also consider there will be 1-2 new classes or races per year that then also need their corresponding PrE's.
At the current speed of PrE implementation we will never see all PrE's because they are adding new classes and races with missing PrE's faster than they are adding new and unfinished tiers of PrE's.
The cynic in me thinks they drag them out so that we LR more often.
I expect my Brd16/Ftr4 will become a Brd18/Xxx2 when Warchanter 3 hits, for instance. If WC3 was close, I'd have LRed them straight to that level split from what they used to be.
Get ready for a future Arti PrE that doesn't use crossbows much at all (so you need to featswap out of all those X-bow feats), and so on.
