Default Adamantine Body AC vs. other means

    Pardon my noobness,
I know there's a great consensus Adamantine body is not great for pure casters but my question is,
is it possible to attain equivalent AC through other mean, like bracers of armor, docents... etc...

    Appreciate any replies

Won't be much use after a certain point, but you could do the house D sentinels pack, has a docent that adds some AC with built in damage reduction. You can also use the spells Mage Armor and Shield, combined thats an extra 8 AC.

mage armor does not stack with body armor but shield bonus does, so shield i would consider separate.

It's not really possible to have a useful AC on a caster beyond about level 15 or so.

Too much AC is tied up in the Combat Expertise feat.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Mage armor will not require a feat, ya WF start with a free one for +2(did forget this) armor.. yes you can get higher AC from feats, but don't they add some spell failure? Cast mage armor and shield and that's +6 total, since you already had that 2 from a feat. You could grab some potions or a clicky for shield of faith, deflection bonus would stack with the others.

no but it does override the composite plating ac of 2 so it more like a +6 with the same asf of 10-15% iirc. It just saves ap/gear slots since yoru increasing ac but not asf.

With how this game is designed, it is nearly impossible for a pure caster to get enough AC to be better than nothing.

A caster shouldn't use Adamantine Body, or any AC body.

well, I'm not trying to build a pure caster, I'm trying to figure out if I can get that +8 armor in other ways as a caster, like through armor bracers.

so what's I'm hearing is that using the adamant body takes up a feat and enhancements but in turn opens up equipment space? hmmm. seems like a poor trade.

It'll be useful to ask yourself why you want to get +8 armor. (Notice that Adamantine Body is also not often used by melee / ranged warriors or priests either)

that is a very good point. mostly for the looks, the ac and the low dex in the build, but what you say makes sense since the AB hampers the dex bonus considerably.
