The Rusty Nail is busy this evening - the latest ship from Korthos had disgorged a number of aspiring adventurers who found the dockside establishments not to their taste, and the Nail is the nearest tavern to the Marketplace gates.
Jordan, the bartender, leans closer to hear what you have to say over the noise and bustle of his inn. He nods, wiping the mug in his hands dry and stowing it under the bar before replying.
"Adventure, you say? Plenty of that in this city, my friend! And even if you don't seek renown as a great hero - like so many poor fools fresh off the boat seem to be looking for - there are still plenty of folks who need little jobs doing. No shortage of work around here, if you don't mind delving into the sewers or looking for lost objects..." He lowers his voice, and leans a little closer across the bar. "Or lost people. It can be a dangerous place, Stormreach. Best to watch your back, at least until you find some trustworthy friends to help watch it for you."
Jordan listens to your question and shrugs, picking up another mug to wipe.
"Well, that kind of depends on what you're looking for, I guess - but you could do worse than talk to those folks over there." He nods towards the alcove to your right, where a knot of people seem to be deep in conversation around a table. "Some say they're just treasure hunters, but I hear tell they've helped a bunch of folks around town - seem like mostly good people, if that's what you want. Of course..." he sniffs slightly, apparently a little offended, "they don't bother renting my rooms no more... but at least they meet here and buy my ale so I suppose that's something. Except for that scruffy elf what only drinks water, but even he brings in fresh game for the kitchens now and again so I'm not gonna kick them out."
He grins and nods again towards the alcove. "Go on then... I don't think they bite, can't do no harm to go and introduce yourself, right? Just don't try sneaking up on that elf or his girl... frightened the life outta poor Maude one day, daggers appearing like that!" Jordan shakes his head, chuckling, and mutters something that sounds like "takes all sorts..." as he turns to serve another customer - leaving you to decide whether you want to approach the indicated group or if you'd rather drink alone this evening...
RP 'Open House'
Wavecrest Wayfinders is a very small static roleplaying guild of 'mature' players on the Thelanis server. (Please note: age is no indication of actual maturity... )
We play regularly on Fridays, questing and roleplaying, and also meet for occasional roleplay on Wednesday evenings. This is a heavy-RP group, and for us the roleplay is the focus rather than the questing or XP. We enjoy out-of-character chatter in our guild channel, but questing takes place in-character. We aim to concentrate on in-depth character development within a group of like-minded people - this is not the place for optimised builds and people who like to zerg... or even hurry a little! We can take a five minute quest and run it in, oh, maybe an hour. Sometimes longer...
We are currently looking for a couple more adults who may be interested in this play style, and who can commit to playing regularly on Friday evenings for a few hours. We understand that life happens and players may have to miss a week or so here and there, but we would really like to find people willing and able to show up most Fridays.
To find out more, please visit our website at...
...and take a look around the public areas. On the home page there is a summary of what the guild is all about, along with links to our guild rules (yes, we have rules) and some character information. If you're interested in meeting us, put on your best RP attitude and come along to our 'Open House' at the Rusty Nail on Friday September 23rd, from 9pm eastern onwards. There'll be a cold jug of ale and maybe even some roast boar for you to share...
