We can't put to much pressure the devs to do something new.
We already have the kobold models. We're being generous with that idea! just add armor to them and they're a pc! Give them the same stats as halflings as long as they're Kobolds we don't care!

Gnomes commonly get:
+2 con, -2 str
Small (+1 ac/attack rolls, +4 hide, -4 intimidate)
+2 to saves vs. illusions
+1 on attacks against kobolds and goblins
+4 dodge AC vs. giants
+2 craft (alchemy) which doesn't exist in DDO. Perhaps a slight bonus to crafting xp?
They also get some whacktastic spell-like abilities:
speak with animals, dancing lights, ghost sound, prestidigitation
While I wouldn't mind gnomes, I want them to put in a race that gets a bonus to wisdom FIRST.

For the record your typical lawn gnomes are in d&d the 'forest gnomes'. These are typically non-playable just like the 'deep gnomes' aka svfinerblin.
The 'rock gnome's are more common, these are to gnomes what halflings are to hobbits when it comes to look like adventurers.
These aren't necessarily magic or crafter inclined.
The 'tinker gnomes' are the wizzy ones that look like old beardy fellows either miner or mechanic.
These make good illusionists, artificers, etc.
(not to confuse them with the Dragonlance variety which is plain crazy but still loveable)
Gnomes would be a good race to compliment the artificer. The other race suggestions would need some practical class added to use them with. I'm not against adding more races, but now the gnome would be even more useful with the introduction of the artificer.
Please add some cool illusion spells along with the gnome. I really want a good illusion archmage Gnome. And if you made these spells powerful new CC options that would be very nice.
If this were dragonlance i would wholeheartedly agree. Not really that big in erberron. Great fit for arti's though (Mnt Nevermind would never be the same.)
Gnomes would be great to add but my vote would have to be shifters first if they were going to add a new player race. Hopefully we'll see them when after they add the new tech that will finally allow them to do stuff like wild shape and other transforming things like that.

Gnomes are nothing like halflings and dwarves apart from their small size. They are fantasic bards, wizards (particularly illusionists), rogues, and multi-classed rogues - which well, artificer kinda already does.

However, even though +1 DC to illusions would make a great deal fo sense, I think +2 would be needed for such a harmless spell type. This would encourage players to make illusionist rogues, which is what they were designed for in the first place.
Lastly, the Warforged are running out of 1/2lings to eat and this would help end the famine.
