# Thread: Greensteel Newb question

1. ## Greensteel Newb question

Ok, so I'm doing my Shroud Runs and racking up ingredients and I'm nearly ready to make my first Greensteel Item. I'm a sorc.

Looking to make something for additional SP's and to raise my UMD.

I think I'd like to go this route:

T1: Wizardry VI, +1 Cha skills (E)
T2: +50sp, +2 Cha skills (E)
Bonus: Raise Dead 1x

T3: +100sp, +3 Cha skills (E)
Bonus: Greater Disruption Guard

When I'm done adding all this uberness to my sorc, what will the end result be?

A grand total of +6 to my UMD??
A grand total of 210 sp?? (So 420 as a sorc?)

Or do these not stack together?
If they don't stack, I'll go a different route.

2. They stack with each other.

Wizardry VI is 150 spell points, not 60. But it will not stack with any other Power/Wizardry/Magi/Archmagi items.

3. Different sp numbers stack, so:
50+100=150 | 150+100+50=300
but 50+50=50 | 50+50+100=150

Same goes for the Cha:
1+2+3=6
But would you mistakenly take 1+1=1 | 1+1+3=4

(not sure if the sp numbers on sorc double up on GS, i don't have a sorc myself. Surely someone else can verify that for you)

Does that stacking only work on greensteel or in general also?

Like strength If I have +1 gloves and +2 bracers do they add for +3 on strength or just the highest +2 strength?

5. Greensteel is a totally different animal.
Typically item bonuses do not stack. They just take the highest number.

6. afaik that stacking only works on GS.

As per your example on gloves, only the highest of stat counts: strength +1 + +2 = +2
Eventualy it is best to try to find a different slot for every (or most valuable) stat: +6 strength | +6 Wis | +6 Con
It all depends on your class and skill ofcourse.

The stacking Cha on GS comes from the part of those stats being exeptional.
Have to say i'm not a total expert, and this is how i learned it. If i'm in the wrong i hope someone will show me the flaws.

7. Just a note of clarifcation, some of the effects on Greensteel are not unique to Greensteel. For example, the Spell Power Rune on Dragon Touched armor provides:

• Greater Elemental Spell Power (+100 SP)
Which is the same effect as the 100 SP from the Greensteel and thus they do not stack.

8. the elemental spell power found on greensteel stacks with all other values of elemental power as well as other types of sp bonus. wizadry will not stack but if it your only one it is kind of nice

50 esp, 100 esp on a greensteel is 150 more.

however, wearing the same values will not help. if you hypothetically had two greensteels, for 50 esp, another 50 esp, and 100 esp, that is still 150 more.

Wizardry VI does NOT stack with Magi/Archmagi and is typically considered less than optimal.
The +1 +2 +3 all stack (being different values) to a total of +6 Cha skills (UMD)
The Item ends up, +300 SP / +6UMD / Greater Disruption Guard

Another option would be this

You loose +1 UMD and Wizardry VI

You gain - Blindness Immunity - Desease Immunity - CON OPP (chance of SP on hit) +6 Wisdom - +10 Haggle, +10 Diplo

Just a thought for you. While the guard is usefull, undead are already very vulnerable to our magic, and easy to kill.

Your first idea is a single shard item, while my suggestion is a double shard item, so you will need twice as many larges to finish it.

While you gather larges, you can craft it the tier II, and it is still very usefull.

You got it exactly right. I was trying to decide if the double shard thing was worth it. Still not sure at this point.

11. One other question on greensteel as I research this...

How about the healing amplifications? does the tier 1,2,3 stack?
Or does it just take the highest one?

12. The healing amp stacks as long as they are different numbers.

I would generally rather have Healing Amp on Dragon Touched rather than on Greensteel.
