The general consensus of most experienced PvP'ers is that the new system of Sorc Savants/Damage-Over-Time spells is simply rediculous. For those who are here to tell me that PvP is stupid and a waste of time, there is a reason there are 30 other forum slots just for you.

Another problem that I seem to have noticed is that since Casters can now alter their Elemental Enhancement lines, people are grabbing Lightning and Fire, and just going crazy. I remember the good ol' days, when Chain Lightning wouldn't kill everything for 900 damage.

There was once a time when the only thing you couldn't block in this game was the TR missile, but now there are so many spells that just do insane amounts of damage, because that's the way it works in PvE. I want to see the days return where a level 12 can't drop down and kill a TR'd level 20 Melee by casting two DoT spells and watching him slowly die.

Please Turbine, PvP is just as much your responsibility to control as PvE, and so many people would you love more for it.

I think the OP is saying that PVP was relativley fine pre-u9. Now it has dibilitated any generalized fun for any class because they DOT spells and DP are overpowered for there intended use in relations to PVP and that those spells should be inherently blocked. Those spells ruin what semblance of pvp there was.

I notice alot of hate for something that alot of haters do not play regularly or care to play. Your entitled to your opinions but that does not negate the point the OP is making.

I do not disagree with removing them from pvp. But that still does not even come close to balancing pvp. My water savant sorc can 1 shot anything that moves in the pit with polar ray. In the grand scheme of it, the devs spending any time working on pvp is truly useless.

Let me preface this by saying I don't PvP, never have and possible that I never will. But from an outsiders perspective it seems that every week or so there's someone posting in the PvP forum complaining that Class X is overpowered compared to Class Y. And 9 times out of 10, the poster plays class Y and is upset that their choice of build can't own every other toon in the pit, and of course changes to spells or combat mechanics is the answer!

Here's the solution I see. If you find class Y is so much better than class X, roll up a Y!

In my view, the DnD system is designed so that at low levels melees have all the power whereas casters take the cake at higher levels. Without getting into too much of a nerd war, this makes perfect sense. In a ring match it makes sense that an all-powerful wizard could take out the greatest swordsman in the land with but a flick of their finger and a word. At some point between levels 1 and 20, casters and melees become about equal. Where this is, or where this should be, is debatable and depends as much on the build as it does on player skill IMO.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but it seems you want spells to have different levels of damage/effects in PvP versus the rest of the game. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this will never happen. Too much dev time required for too little of the player population. Instead of asking Turbine for a solution, find one yourself in the game (i.e. roll up a caster for PvP). DDO has evolved quite a bit since launch. With each major update, classes get tweaked, sometimes get nerfed and old strategies become obsolete. Arcanes just got some much needed love recently. Things may change again. In the mean time, adapt.

Remove annoying spells from PvP. It's only a on/off thing so it wont interfer with the so prescious PvE developing time.

So everyone is happy. PvP will get better and it wont interfer with PvE!

Do you think the arcanes would like for their damage over time spells to work in PvP? Would they be against removing them?

yes but i bet you didn't feel that way, before the changes when you could run up to a caster and trip/stun and kill them.
what comes around goes around deal with it or stay out of the pit...........

I do feel it is a tad grieflike though when I cast a maxed/empowered/superior potenticied/savanted/enchancement lined/capstoned Eladers on a melee and then Wind dance to the other side of the pit.

Pvp is Balanced by the imbalance if that makes sense.

If I see the dots pop up on my screen I make sure the caster dies with me :P

If you are a melee and want to fight a caster then them having these dots makes no difference. Anyone worth a hoot with a blue bar can kill a melee w/o even trying. It just happens faster and with less effort now.

Arcanes really needed that love did they??? No...they did not IMO, since I decided that my bard is too weak compared to the other uber sauce L33t pwning arcanes, I decided to role one up, I thought that leveling would be a pain in the *** and extremely irritating, I found in my experience that it's easier to level then the melees. Even at level one, I could one shot anything with Niac's except for elite stuff or bosses, which took 2~5 depending, still those Niac's were not empowered or maximizes, I think that is quite cheap. Then in U9 they add sorc savants, yet no ravager or occult for barbarian :/, although I agree, sorcerors have been waiting for an PrE, they were already overpowered... well whatever, a caster always has different ways to play then the melees

Pre U9 basically= Finger of death melees, oh that didn't work huh? Meteor swarm! ~1500 damage, oops you died, so the DoT weren't actually needed

Go craft absorption items. Biting cold won't kill you if you have fire shield, 45 ice resistance, a crafted ice absorption trinket and an ice absorption weapon

Melees can't jump into the pit with a loincloth and an axe anymore. That is a good thing.

you are 100% correct teth - the way casters function in this game they will always have the advantage 1 v 1 melees.

my cleric with the worst reflex save imaginable, 500hp's and no evasion can take a full meteor swarm to the face with a caster using an eardweller. and live.

1500 damage you say? not even close.

2/3rd of the damage is fire, which is easily migitated (although the bludgeon cant really be blocked).
