They should make Race-specific challenge levels where each race gets a different sort of ability to use for that quest only.
i.e. - Warforged get a special auto-lock targeting ability. Level takes place in a eerie closed-down factory where warforged parts are made. You are stuck on a conveyor belt that only allows you to move forward, surrounded by lava, and you must get out in time or else spend the rest of eternity as an elliptical machine in a weight-watchers facility with your eyes placed in the up-skirt position. Your time limit starts the moment you made your character.
Drow receive larger, pointier ears as bladed weapons thus get 4 attacks instead of 1 (or 2 if twf). You are required to use these ears to chop your way through thick jungle underbrush to track down poachers who claimed the life of your pet black panther. Your twin swords are legendary, but sadly you are too conflicted to use them and are blinded by the daylight forcing you to abandon your quest and become a cave town baker of fine Drow goods such as Millipede Crawlers and Mushroom Baguettes.
Half-elf is stuck in limbo, unsure of who or where they are emotionally and physically. You goal is to decide whether you are male, female, or hermaphrodite. Your enemies are society, yourself, and that deep-seeded hatred for your full-blooded parents whose mistake it was to make you. Your special weapon is knowing right where to strike yourself to bleed out the fastest.
Half-Orc. Your goal is to decimate an all-you-can-eat buffet of Kobolds whilst avoiding heartburn. You are equipped with uncanny teeth that act at bladebarriers to mince and frappe the kobolds as you barrel head-first into the flaming spiked bbq-pit trap hoping the kobolds will follow.
Elves receive the natural ability of dark-vision in a quest that takes place in a desert. Simply because the developers feel that balance requires them to put you into situations where your abilities not only prove useless, but an affront to the very nature of fun and exciting. You receive a -2 to life (not hp) penalty for being an Elf. your goal is to escape the desert through a series of misleading mirages of how awesome this quest could have been.
Halflings begin their level much like every MMO or RPG and PnP session out there. In a basement. An old lady is *****in about rats in the basement and how sick an tired she is of having to hire adventurers to do what her cat should be doing. Over the course of the level you come to realize you are the mouse and must slay the old lady and her massive cat. You come equipped with the underwhelming ability to squeeze into tight places and get glimpses of grandmothers hidden treasures while knocking on her kneecaps and slaying her *****cat.
Humans have the incredible ability to make millions of plat in a single quest! However, in this level you are stuck in a maze of cubicles and are confronted at every turn by sycophants, ******bags, and naysayers who all leech plat off you with every hit. You cannot beat them, they overwhelm you, force you into a corner and make you read this very thread until your eyes bleed and madness overcomes you.
/slow roasted halflng sandwich with cole slaw and a side of bacon.
Disappointed and without trust in the powers that be.
