Default U8.1 Treasure of the Crystal Cove Epic Event Items Guide

This guide will cover all the new "Epic" loot that comes from the Crystal Cove event (AKA the Minimum level:20 items. And some lower lvl items (Hats and Trinkets) It won't cover the all lower lvl gear. For more complete information on those check the DDO wiki article.

    Hats:
Hat - Everyone on live will get one, but which one you get will depend on how old your character is among other factors - but even the most basic version shares all the same upgrades, it just looks different and gives a smaller bonus to doubloons - which really dont matter much, so don't worry too much.
Also it seems to be random what color hat you get, and you can also change that later too.
If you REALLY want the higher tier hats on a new char, you can get them anyways via upgrades.

All hats gotten from the hat box are BTC. However you can get BTA versions by purchasing them on the DDO Store.

    T1: Swabby Kerchief
    T2: Freebooter's Bandana
    T3: Corsair's Skullcap
    T4: Captain's Chapeau
    T5: Admiral's Tricorne
    T6: Dread Admiral's Tricorne
Special/Rare hat given to players who visited Turbine at PAX East: The Admiral of Bling (Does not come upgraded like this, same stats as Dread Admirals. Just a different appearance)

    Upgraded Example:
Hat upgraded with Kobold Haste Boost IV, and Moderate Fort

Other possible hat upgrades upgrades for first slot (there are tons, im just listed the best version of each, most need to be done in order and you can only have 1 - most upgrades will increase the hats Min Level slightly):
Up to Heavy Fort (Goes light, mod, heavy, you have to do it in order) (ML9)
Up to Superior False life (+40hp) (ML9)
Up to Natural armor +5 (ML9)
Up to Sneak Attack +5 (ML9)
Up to Any +6 stat (ML11)
Up to Superior Potentcy VI (ML15)
    Up to Seeker +6 (ML15)
    Up to Archmagi (ML15)

    2nd slot - Skills only:
Up to +15 to any 1 skill except UMD. No bonuses to umd possible.
Adding +15 to a skill brings the min lvl to 12. If it's not already that high.

Third slot: Upgrades that only improve kobolds in the crystal cove:
Haste Boost IV (makes em run faster, decent AOE, see above pic)
Healing Aura IV (Heals kobolds 20 hp per 3 seconds)
Entropic Aura IV (40% miss chance for kobolds)
Defense Aura IV (+100% Insight bonus to fortification for kobolds)
    No ML for these.

    Items from Euphonia's Barter Box:
All listed items are ML20 and Bind to Account. Except the Trinkets, which are all ML:4 and Bind to Account.

Note all items are upgradable twice to tier3. The final version will say something like "This is at tier 3 upgradable item" but don't mind that, it's no longer upgradable.

    Accessories:
Epic Treasure Hunter Spy Glass (Trinket) Spot +15, Search +15, True Seeing, UMD +3 , +1 Exceptional Int
T2: Upgrade to +20 Spot and Search, +1 Ex Int becomes +2 Exceptional Int
T3: Add Green Augment Slot and Change UMD +3 to Special UMD +3 (Enhancement bonus instead of Competancy, so it stacks with certain items)

Epic Brawling Gloves Strength +6, Spike Studded, Glass Jaw Strike, Sneak attack +4
    T2: Upgrades to +7 Str
T3: Adds a Yellow Augment Slot

Epic Ring of the Buccaneer - Dexterity +6, Swim +15, Underwater Action, Good Luck +1
    T2: Upgrades to Dexterity +7
T3: Upgrades to Good Luck +2 and a Green Augment Slot

    T2: Adds Major Ice Lore
    T3: Adds Major Lightning Lore

    Dagger while held:
    Ornamented Dagger
Didn't do the others, since they don't seem to have unique appearances at all. Most are just boring lootgen copies.

    Shield:
Epic Swashbuckler (Small Shield) AC:7, DR:7, ASF:15% (10% more then normal for a small shield), Greater Parrying, Doublestrike 6%, Guardbreaker, Riposte

T2: Adds Enchantment and Necromancy Focus (non stacking)
T3: Adds Efficient Metamagic - Maximize I, +1 DC Enchantment
(Bug: Description claims only 30 SP, but item actually grants 50 SP)

Lesser Stalwart Trinket - Pirate Vitality (10 Stacking hitpoints), BTA, ML:4
T2: Adds Stacking 10% Bonus to Fortification
    T3: Adds Earthen Guard
(Bug: Description claims only 5 HP, but item actually grants 10 HP)

    New Effects (Player written/tested):
Superior Nimbleness: Increases max dex bonus of armor by 4, and decreases armor check penalty by 4.
Epic Numbleness: Increases max dex bonus of armor by 6, and decreases armor check penalty by 4.

Exceptional Fortification (10%): Adds +10% fortification. Fully stacks with everything per description.
Absolute Chaos: 2d6 damage versus non-chaotic enemies. Description claims weapons with this can only be wielded by chaotic characters, but in the case of the Epic Cutlass, this is false.
Exceptional Seeker +2: Not that exceptional. Works like +2 seeker. Contrary to the official description, it does not fully stack with other seeker items. Only the +2 to hit chance on criticals stacks, not the +2 damage.
Guardbreaker: This item enables you to break an enemies guard in between your melee attacks. On critical hits with your melee weapons, enemies with become dazed as a result. Does not work on red/purple named.
Riposte: When it's wearer is successfully attacked in melee, this shield allows him or her to occasonally make an immediate counterattack, dealing bludgeoning damage to the enemy. Around 1d10 damage, Procrate about 20%.
Spike Studded: Your unarmed attacks do an additional 1d4 piercing damage.

Most of this is on the wiki..

But main point of this thread is for discussion of the items, as well as to present them in a more easily readable format. (Well imo at least, I prefer the ability to mouse over the items and get the actual ingame screenshot, which is possible if you set you browser up to do so via extensions)

Tons of screenshots missings. I have most of the T1s already take and I will add them later tonight or tomorow.

But the T2 and T3 I will need your guys help. Please submit them to the thread.. Prefably properly cropped and with detailed examinations enabled.

Also need all the misings hats, and all the trinkets except the bold trinket.

    Much thanks,

Yeah would be nice especially to get the non-Epic version of the items with upgrade paths. Lvl 16 tier 3 Ornamented dagger in particular seems to have totally different properties from the Epic tier 3.

Yea true.. I think ill add that one, since it in many ways superior to the level20 version.

But adding every single item of every level and every tier is beyond the amount of work I wish to do, so yea.. That task is best left to our player wiki, done by all of us. This guide will just cover the items of potential interest to capped players.

Minor correction: the Epic Brawling Gloves brawling gloves start with Sneak Attack +4, not +3.

And something you might want to note: the Bold Trinket's damage bonus does not stack with the Hobgoblin ship buff. Still a pretty good item, but not the Litany-killer it might've been.

Also, for the T3 Cunning Trinket, you list +1 DC Enchantment. Is that in addition to the T2 Enhantment and Necro DCs, and if so, does it stack, say, with Dreamspitter?

Tried out the guardbreaking effect of the shield on my wizard and it seems to work just like hypnotize. That means it breaks on hit - which isnt a good combination as its hard to stop hitting a mob after a crit. The opposing mob might get a delay though which might add some benefit. It seemed to be without a save though (tried it on held mobs to be sure)

I have never seen Guardbreaking NOT land on the crit, so I'm going with no save as well. As far as I can tell, it will last until something damages the mob, but otherwise lasts... forever! I tried it in Vale yesterday, got it to land on a dog outside Meridia. Then I ran a full run on the named spawns, and when I got back the dog was still, uhm, Guardbroken.

    And here's the Captain's Chapeau:

    Guardbreaking, more like Gamebreaking. <rimshot>

Makes the Suulo optional in ToD trivial. Parking the Jailer in part 1 is simple too.

If you don't have an SSD, you should be using DDOPreload (fixes the slow first login issue)

Why? Will Guardbreaking work on Red and Purple nameds?

Currently, yes. Guardbreaking works on every monster in the gave, no save, lasts forever (until someone hits them again).
