Does Nullmagic remove your own debuffs and DoTs from enemies it triggers on?

Nope, can't think of a time that I've lost debuffs on a boss or something with it. It goes off a ton so you figure it would have managed to dispel something of mine if it were capable of doing so by now, as the dispel seems really good.

Which then frees you up to SLA/unmeta'd Necrotic Ray them to death.
Thanks for this Demon - very useful information. I just respecced Magister and took nullmagic strike. I tested it in Epic Hard and Epic Elite and can confirm it works. As you say, it seems to have a chance to proc on every individual missile from the Arcane Initate (wiz past life) force missile. That's 10x 15% chance. The combat log shows the missiles hitting in succession and the nullmagic effect going off after a given missile. The 30 second duration is really quite good, especially when you can hit them again so easily even if there is a long beatdown underway. Now to see whether it works on red names...

Edit: It doesn't work on red names. At least - it didn't work on Vicala Szind, the red-named priestess in Impossible Demands. That's a shame but not wholly surprising. The effect shows in the combat log when it procs, but she just carries on casting and 'immune' floats over her head.

Woops yeah. The dispel works, but it doesn't block casting for red-named, which I figured would be obvious but I still should have mentioned, sorry!

I posted most of this in another thread a moment ago, however that thread was about Spell Penetration/SR. So rather than derail that thread by asking for feedback, I though I would unapologetically abuse LeLoric's thread! Sorry to those who have just read this in the Spell Pen thread and get deja vu.

My PM has 4 wizzie lives (and a sorc life). I will run another 3x FVS +1 back to wizzie next time I have a month or 6 weeks to push through the lives. At the moment I am sorely tempted to go Elf on that final wizard life as well. It is almost certainly a less popular choice right now, however as DemonMage noted, a Nullmagic Strike will shut down a drow priestess almost every time, so I would really like to find points in Magister to accommodate Nullmagic.

It probably means sacrificing 2 or 3 points of intelligence and losing 2 points in Magister Piercing Spellcraft (or losing Master of School). So that means I need the full set of past lives and also elven arcanum IV to get to 57. I could get to 59 on necro only with 2 points in Master of School (but I would lose Arcane Adept), or 59 generally if I were to dual-wield weapons with Alchemical Tier 3 Mystical Earth and Fire, however thats a lot of Epic LOBs for me to complete. The Staff of the Necromancer gets me pretty close in the meantime and I would probably run with it and only switch to the Alchemical Gear situationally.

My question: Is this a dumb idea? I know that Epic Elite drow have great saving throws so every point of DC matters, however I figure if I can't punch through their SR anyway then I am not even testing their saves. If the bloody Drow Priestess gets DW up on her and her mates, then I am reduced to webbing and throwing low-probability dances/holds. So the spell pen and nullmagic strike seem important.

I give up 2 or 3 intelligence from Magister and 1 intelligence due to switching Human to Elf. I lose some SP however I get some back from Elven Arcanum, and this isn't about spell points anyway. I lose a feat (probably UMD focus, because I should be able to beat a standing 39 for heal scrolls and beat 44 for Res scrolls when buffed).

    Any thoughts?

Do any of you guys have a Drow PM build that's fairly recent?

I know some of the awesome information in this thread (which, as a newbie to the game, I am certainly appreciative of) is outdated; is there anything new? Say for a guy who has 1 Wizard Past Life, is a Drow, with enough XP to train to level 4 (currently sitting at level 3)?

    Just putting that out there

Sorry I haven't really updated much here as I have been focused mostly on other characters since update.

This thread is pretty much your target for an elf palemaster for current end game. Although it does require a lot of past lifes.

Thanks LeLoric, I will look in to this for my "bigger picture" but for right now I'm just a lil Drow, trying to make his way in the universe and I'd like to stay Drow as I'm part of a racial themed guild. I don't plan on solo the new stuff yet anyways

    Mason, it looks pretty good.

I would drop Empower for Maximise. Also you can't take your Wiz PL feat till level three. Insightful reflexes is a good choice at first level.

You probably only need 1 point in tumble - not 100% sure from your post whether you have taken more...

Like many players I could use some tips for gear refinement.

    My wizard setup atm:

    *In Progress

    Head: Epic Darkstorm*
    Neck: Torc
    Trinket: +8 INT
    Cloak: Epic Flames
    Belt: Epic Lion
Ring: (swap) -5% spell fail, heavy fort, large guild augment (heavy fort will be something else after the darkstorm gets epic’d)
    Gloves: HP Concordant Opposition
Boots: Epic Rock, several utility swaps including greensteel
    Ring: (perm) Epic Mire
Bracers: Epic Demon Consort, Divine Power clikies
Armour: Spider /w +3 insight INT
Goggles: Epic Spirit Sight (+6 int slotted)

    I have enough slots for:
    +2 luck
    Heavy fort* (on darkstorm eventually)
    Greater False Life
    +1 ex INT
    +1 ex CON
    Spare Yellow

I am still playing with the exact slotting.

Mainhand: Crystal/Water/Water/Fire Alchemical scepter (all mystical)
Offhand: Light and Darkness, ???/Earth/Earth Alchemical* (???/martial/mystical)

    Situational: Staff of the Necromancer*

Giving up the Epic Night robe was tough but I still keep it around
for certain situations where incoming damage is enough to warrant
    the DC loss.

This setup doesn’t have the highest spellpower for all elements
at all times, but if I really need to efficiently and/or quickly nuke
something I can swap to the various ~100 spellpower+lore one
handed items. (in progress as well)

Part of the reason I built for no/limited swaps is due to crippling
UMD lag and my general lack of skill with managing tons of swaps
    in heavy combat situations.

Another part is that hand swaps are slow and taking quickdraw on
a wizard is a bit silly.

The final reason is that I'm kinda lazy.

I have tr'd since but when I was lvl 24 a few weeks ago my set up was this:

Head: Minos(because I had nothing better)
    Body: Epic Robe of Shadow
Gloves: Purple dragon( criminally easy to get for the extra con and heal amp when not in form).
    Boots: Propulsion
    Bracers: Epic Demons consort
    Trinket: Litany
    Goggles: +2 insightful intel
Rings: +6 con with large slot and +8 intel
    Necklace: +8 con/noxious embers
    Staff: Necro/petitioner
Belt: one of the arch magi belts.
Cloak: Con Op sp item(but with all decnet builds having over 3000 sp at 23-24 con op is pretty useless).

This setup easily gave me 550 hp and 3000 sp. My con wAS uneven so I could swap litany for a +3 intel trinket if I ever got one. I Dont bother wearing tod rings because, to me, what I have on is better for me.
Spell pen ended up being 49 or 50, necro dc was 51 and enchant was 42. Didn't do any epic elite stuff but epic hard was good and I could solo a lot of stuff. This wiz was a second life human pm.

This may sound like blasphemy...but for EE and a few other
places I'm thinking that taking off the bracers and torc to wear
the 10% reduction from the war wizards set is the thing to do.

EH and such keep the giant pile of guards and firewall/afk to
    victory.

Can probably use the fancy DC cloak from the new challenges
and switch out the goggles for random loot +8 int. People who
can actually pull a litany would have that option freed up again
    without conflict.

    So basically 3 gearsets:

1 - High DC: All int items and sp reduction. Guards can go away
because getting hit on EE is unpleasant. Torcing doesn't work to
    well either.

2 - EH and lower: Pre MotU heavy guard and torc setup.

3 - Occasional tanking: Put back on the shadow/abbot robe
and make sure to have an alternate resistance item.

I've recently returned to DDO and want to get back to playing my PM. She's a level 16 human. I could really use some advice on which spells to use and enhancements to take. I -could- do a feat swap but that would take time and plat.

This isn't the order I acquired the feats. It's been so long since I played the character, I couldn't remember.

Every character gets a free LR now, once per character, not life. Meaning if you TR you don't get another free LR like you do with the free feat respec with Fred.

Your feats don't look bad to me, though it'd be a bummer if you took Mental Toughness as a wizard bonus feat since that's what typically gets exchanged for spell pen, which can't be taken as a wizard bonus feat.

I believe the standard human PM feat package is:

    Heighten
    Quicken
    Extend
    Maximize
    Empower

    Toughness
    Insightful Reflexes

    Spell Pen
    Greater Spell Pen
    Epic Spell Pen

    Necro Focus
    Greater Necro Focus
Epic Necro Focus or Great Ability: Int

    Enchant Focus
Greater Enchant Focus or Past Life: Wizard

The normal progression is to swap out mental toughness for spell pen as soon as you get lich form since you no longer need it for wraith form.

So what are some current PM builds looking like? Feat wise my Drow went with this...

    Toughness
Epic Toughness (requires +5 tome and Legend build)

    Spell Penetration
    Greater Spell Penetration
    Epic Spell Penetration

    SF Necromancy
    Greater SF Necromancy
    Epic SF Necromancy

    Maximize
    Extend
    Mental Toughness
    Heighten
    Augment Summons

    PL Wizard
    Insightful Reflexes
