    Default Iconic Tank ???

I was wanting to start an Iconic Tank...Pally of course lol. I have messed around with a few different builds in game and cant realy find a decent feat breakdown and what not. I am interested in a 18/2 split.....either pally/fighter or pally/rogue whichever is better. Thanks in advance for any advice =)

I wouldn't recommend it. Bladeforged have even worse hamp than regular warforged. Typically tanks need very good hamp to make fights where they're needed easier on the healers. Yes you could try to get a sorc or wiz to heal you instead but that would almost require getting a static group for the raids that do need them. The best role for a bladeforged is probably dps which typically need less healing and and with the repairs that bladeforged get will work just fine. If you really want an iconic tank I would wait for pdk to be released as with their cha to hit and damage mods mean you could build a tank with really high saves and intim.

Actually the build itself is not too dissimilar to many exiting 18/2 builds - I recommend Fighter myself as I found the extra feats more helpful than evasion (however your mileage may vary)

    Now your challenges...

Traditional Raid healing comes from the Divine classes and the Bladeforge already start off with a handy cap in the healing that these provide.

#1 rule of a Tank is to cost less than it would take to heal everyone else...

    This is accomplished by
    1. Reducing incoming damage - High Avoidance (AC/Dodge/PRR/Saves)
    2. Reduce external Healing resource usage - High amplification is a big way to accomplish this - You don't necessarily need a cure light wounds to be able to heal you from 10% to Full, but as a Bladeforge you will need to dedicate more gear to healing amplification which will mean less gear for Hate Generation.
    3. Self Healing - In my opinion the best Tanks can heal themselves effectively - better than most other party members. This allows them to continue to fill their role while the party is being put back together.

Of course the big issue to overcome is the Repair vs Cure healing. Many Sorcerers, Wizards and Artificers do not see themselves as Tank Support classes and worry about the Slippery Slop of becoming seen as only being capable of this role. This is why many of these builds are built around Self-Healing.

Now, when the abilities that are not yet available for a Bladeforge exist it may well make it even more self-healing meaning less need for a Tank Healer.

Good luck and I hope you have fun with your build. I would suggest BSwords and DAxes to work with the WF natural THF abilities and for those times when putting the Shield away will make more sense.

I was thinking pal 18 / ftr 1 / wiz 1; the wiz splash gets you a free meta magic and Repair I enh to boost those RCW you can now cast. Presuming I'm right, of course; haven't really checked out BF yet.

WF make terrible tanks. The healing penalty kills them.

But imagine for a moment if a paradigm shift occurred and Sorcerers, Wizards and Artificers started to Tank Heal...

Raids traditionally run with 2 to 3 healers could be run with 1 to 2 Healers - Resurrection works just as well scrolled as it does from SP.
Divines would have to hunt out groups willing to take them on

Stormreach would once again be inundated with the WF...

Builder hasn't been updated for BF yet, so I had to fake it a bit, hence the +2 CHA tome at lvl 1. Like I said, wiz splash adds extra metafeat (Quicken) and Repair I enh for a bit more oomph. Once BF get Reconstruct SLA in U19 like they're supposed to, plan is to swap out Maximize for something else. Bumped up INT so I could max Intim, UMD, and Concentration and maybe add CE later; otherwise I probably would've dumped INT for more CON. On the fence about the last couple of feats. If I go more tank-y, I'd probably take Shield Mastery, ISM, and either CE or b.sword; otherwise go for the THF chain, I guess. I'm really just making this up as I go along...

Will never happen, you play an arcane to play the game not to nanny others. Will I toss a recon if I notice another wf is tripped and about to die, sure, will I play healer on an arcane? The universe will grow cold and die first.
