Alright folks ... a while back I unlocked FVS and have been working a few up seeing how the different kinds play. The WF version I knew I'd like and those are doing just fine.
I've been paying attention to different build theories that come up and are discussed in terms of spell DCs, but I wanted to have a kind of pure-discussion here ... not critique particular builds. Basic question / discussion:
With the most damaging save-based spells (not implosion; there's no damage and no save) evoker FVS max wis, toss on heighten and both SF feats. The save on the big ones of these are all reflex based, thus evadable. I see plenty of comments about people dropping WIS at higher levels, etc.
Now I have no doubt a pure evoker is fun; I'd like to know though how many evasion-based mobs still save on the blade barriers and cometfalls? Is it still avoided a general chunk of the time? the people who dump WIS and ignore those 3 feats do so because I assume they feel that investment doesn't buy them much more performance.
I've run multiple clerics including a max-wis casting clonk; but on each of those I had wisdom, etc.
End game ... does that investment truly pay off for you or not? Do you dump Wis or not?
Love to hear folk's thoughts.
