The primary purpose of this build is to give low-level rangers some defense, while boosting the higher-level damage. I haven't posted too many builds, but I'm thinking about playing this one. I think it looks promising (from my never-had-a-character-above-level-7 viewpoint). This is a pretty specific build, as it is an elven arcane archer PrE, which locks in the race.

I have vet status, so I'll start at level 4. By this point, I'll have a bunch of skills from the rogue level, bow strength, two-weapon fighting, and rapid shot from the ranger level and heavy armor proficiency and oversized two weapon fighting from the fighter level, as well as Point blank shot and wf: ranged, covering two out of three AA prerequisites. Then Ranger levels until hitting level 8 (ranger level 6), when I take my second rogue level at level 9. At this point, I top of Disable Device and bring UMD up to a valid range. This also means that I get evasion at the same level that a pure ranger would. The other fighter level would go at level 10 (or one more rogue level, so I could get one more tier of sneak attack damage with 12/7/1 at the end). Then ranger levels until a total of 12 ranger levels, and top off with Rogue levels. This would bring most of the major rogue skills, including UMD, up to Rogue-like levels by cap.

Primary weapons would be Bows and scimitars, capitalizing on elf bonuses. All level ups into strength, as Rangers don't need dex for their twf chain and it seems that AAs will do more damage total with higher strength than higher dex, due to the twf meleeing that they're bound to do.
